n the world of automotive enthusiasts, there's a certain charm associated with vintage vehicles that transcends the boundaries of time. Among these classics, the Vintage Ford Bronco stands out as a symbol of rugged elegance and off-road prowess. Over the years, the vintage Bronco has evolved from a utilitarian workhorse to a coveted collector's item, with a fan base that continues to grow.

The Ford Bronco was first introduced in 1965 as a compact SUV designed to compete with the Jeep CJ-5 and the Inter-

national Harvester Scout. Its sturdy construction, removable top, and powerful performance quickly made it a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts and off-road adventurers. The Bronco's popularity soared, and it became an iconic vehicle associated with exploration and adventure. The First Generation (1966-1977): The early Broncos, often referred to as first-generation models, are highly sought after by collectors. These classic vehicles are characterized by their boxy design, removable hardtops, and a range of engine options. The simplicity of their design and off-road capabilities make them particularly appealing to those who appreciate the raw and unadulterated essence of off-roading. In the fast-paced world of business and automobiles, Chau Nguyen emerges as a luminary, seamlessly fusing the charm of first-generation classic Ford Broncos with contemporary technology and luxury. The founder and CEO of Vintage Broncos, Nguyen has carved a niche for himself, making Vintage Broncos one of the most coveted cars nationwide.

18

"You can't fake passion," declares Chau Nguyen, a serial entrepreneur and car enthusiast, embodying determination and genuine fervency. Nguyen's journey from selling lemonade in grade school to heading a multimillion-dollar enterprise showcases a relentless pursuit of excellence, but it's his love for automobiles that truly sets him apart. In less than five years, Nguyen's brainchild, Vintage Broncos, has taken the automotive world by storm. The brand impeccably melds the enchanting design of classic Ford Broncos with modern-day technology, luxury, and reliability. With prices starting north of $200,000, Vintage Broncos has become a symbol of prestige and style. The allure of Vintage Broncos extends beyond car aficionados to celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Wahlberg, and Chase Stokes. The brand boasts a yearlong waitlist, a testament to its cult following. Owning a Vintage Bronco is not just about transportation; it's an experience worth every cent.

Vintage Broncos taps into the American enthusiasm for retro designs, offering a perfect blend of nostalgia and reliability. The allure of cruising in a Vintage Bronco, reminiscent of an era gone by, is irresistibly coupled with the peace of mind that comes with modern technology. In the world of Vintage Broncos, Chau Nguyen has not only revitalized classic cars but has also created an experience that transcends time. With an unwavering commitment to passion and excellence, Nguyen's Vintage Broncos continue to redefine the intersection of classic aesthetics and modern luxury in the automotive industry. www.vintagebroncos.co

Redefines Equestrian Style

n Wellington, Florida, David and Judy Sloan have created Roseview Farms, a testament to creativity and reinvention. The farm and its many tailgating vehicles represent a captivating blend of tradition and innovation. With a background that spans military service and international uranium trade, David Sloan’s unique approach transforms discarded industrial

remnants into functional and aesthetically pleasing elements, painting a narrative in perfect harmony with the spirit of equestrian living.

24

While we typically see articles focused on horses in sport – polo, dressage, jumping, driving, and much more – we were intrigued by David Sloan’s approach to watching horses in action and the ambiance of that experience exemplified in his numerous Field Bars that have become well recognized at many a horse sporting event. Sloan’s vision is guided by the notion that the outdoors can and should be framed as a room – a space where you want to sit down, have a cocktail, and be entertained by the power and grace of horses in motion.

25

26

THE ART OF TRANSFORMATION Sloan has a knack for repurposing that turns the unwanted into showcased masterpieces. Leveraging his experience in recycling Cold War nuclear materials, Sloan injects life into forgotten military and industrial relics dating back to 1948. The Field Bars, transformed from ex-military trailers, become the heart of pop-up dinner parties and polo team tents, hunt breakfasts and tailgates extraordinaire. One such ex-military turned bar trailer, the “Shooting Brake Bar” Trailer, a former 1968 Swiss Army trailer, stores all accouterments for a pop-up dinner party anywhere in the “field.” The red trailer, a former 1968 US Army trailer, serves as the “Field Bar,” while the green trailer, a 1967 US Marine Corp trailer repurposed as a hound trailer, now stands as the “Party Wagon.” Laden with tents, oriental rugs, and campaign furniture, these trailers embody the ultimate al fresco space, blending vintage charm with modern functionality. The Shooting Brake bar, a stroke of genius, seamlessly integrates the thrill of the hunt with the conviviality of the polo field. It’s a mobile haven for enthusiasts, where the finest whiskeys and cigars mingle with the crisp air and the echoes of galloping hooves. In the hands of David Sloan, the tradition of “Elevensies,” polo tailgating

and shooting lunches has not only endured but has been exquisitely redefined, ensuring that the spirit of camaraderie and luxury lives on in each meticulously designed detail. In the annals of history, the tradition of polo tailgating and shooting lunches in the field emerges as a vibrant tapestry of sporting elegance and camaraderie. Originating in the British Isles during the late 19th century, this aristocratic pastime found its roots on the sprawling polo grounds where horsemen showcased their prowess in the fast-paced sport of kings. Tailgating soon became synonymous with polo events, providing a convivial setting for spectators to revel in the exhilarating matches. As the sport gained popularity, so did the custom of shooting lunches, where enthusiasts would partake in the hunt’s pleasures amidst the idyllic field’s backdrop. The creation of these exquisite affairs required a meticulous blend of opulence and rustic charm. Elaborate picnic setups with fine linens, silverware, and delectable treats were laid out alongside the equestrian stage. The air resonated with the clinking of champagne flutes and the jovial laughter of those who reveled in the fusion of athleticism and leisure. This unique blend of sport, style, and sociability created an enduring legacy that transcends time, weaving tales of bygone eras and celebrating the timeless spirit of the polo tailgating and shooting lunch tradition.

27

A HOLISTIC COMMITMENT The couple’s immersion in the equestrian community goes beyond design. He and his wife, Judy, actively contribute to the governance of equestrian sports. Judy serves as the secretary and treasurer of the United States Equestrian Federation, while David holds the position of president at Hobe Sound Polo.

28

Roseview Farms, under the visionary guidance of David Sloan, emerges as more than a farm – it’s a testament to timeless innovation and a celebration of the equestrian lifestyle of both yesterday and today. Next Up: Join us in LUX W’s next Wellington issue for a tour of the barns at Roseview Farms - where form meets function.

Jewelry Architect Carson Gray: Crafting Timeless Elegance with Global Flair REDEFINED LUXURY, UNVEILING RARE GEMS, AND EMBRACING PERSONAL EMPOWERMENT IN EVERY CARSON GRAY JEWEL. Written by Madison Bailey

W

ith over two decades of expertise cultivated in renowned establishments such as Tiffany, Cartier, and Rolls-Royce, Carson Gray is a luminary in jewelry architecture. Drawing inspiration from

her global travels and experiences spanning New York to London, the Middle East, and Africa, Gray has developed a profound understanding of the luxury consumer and a keen insight into women's diverse relationships with jewelry. Carson Gray's journey began in an era where jewelry was often demure, challenging the conventional norms associated with adornment. Her career trajectory has been a testament to her unwavering dedication to pushing boundaries and transcending limits. The foundation of Carson Gray Jewels reflects her distinctive vision as a "jewelry architect" rather than a conventional designer. Each piece in her collection encapsulates a delicate balance – bold yet sophisticated, modern yet timeless, and strongly proportioned without sacrificing equilibrium. As a native New Yorker with an unmatched flair for crafting one-ofa-kind jewelry, Gray's work experience at prestigious establishments has significantly shaped her perspective on the craft. Having worked with iconic brands and traversed the globe, her journey has uniquely positioned her to comprehend the multifaceted significance of jewelry in the lives of wearers. Established in Florida in April 2023, Carson Gray Jewels has quickly emerged as a distinctive force in the industry. The brand's ethos centers on offering exceptional one-of-a-kind pieces featuring rare gems meticulously sourced by Gray herself from Africa. These flawless stones, surpassing four carats each, spotlight the intrinsic value of each gem, providing a unique investment opportunity that challenges traditional notions.

This exceptional 11.28-carat baguette cut fancy lilac tanzanite, accentuated by .21 of virtually flawless diamonds and set in 18-karat white gold, is an undisputed showstopper. The mine where this stone was found closed in 1988, making it a true rarity. Size, color, and clarity make this fancy tanzanite one of the most unique stones in the world. Incredibly hard to find, this pink-purple hue is very seldom seen and even more difficult to get. One of the best-kept secrets in the gemstone trade, this cousin to the traditional blue tanzanite is highly desirable amongst collectors and investors alike. Sure to increase in value over the coming years due to the lack of availability, this piece is an exceptional addition to any vault… or finger.

This virtually perfect blue 9.23-carat pear-cut tanzanite, with .23-carat flawless diamond accents, is an exceptional example of the treasures that lie beneath the earth. Rarer than diamonds by 1,000 times, tanzanite was created millions of years ago in a very small area of the world – in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Introduced in the 1960s by Tiffany & Co., the famous house proclaimed tanzanite to be the most beautiful stone uncovered in the last 2,000 years. Whilst already a sought-after gemstone for its deep blue color, size, and clarity, the value of tanzanite is expected to exponentially increase in the coming years as mines and supplies dry up. Besides its beauty, why is this a must-have? Because there is only one generation left of this sensational gemstone.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST FALL IN LOVE WITH FOOD / WHERE DOES YOUR FOOD STORY BEGIN? I really fell in love with food during my family’s travel from Florida to California to find my mother’s biological mother - as she was adopted. What we found was more than an amazing human being. She was an immigrant from Italy who barely spoke English and one of the most talented cooks I've ever eaten from. One of the first times we met at her home, we were greeted by the incredible aroma of fresh tomatoes, herbs, and all sorts of vegetables. Her garlic clove stuffed beef roast was exceptional and will never leave my memory.

WHEN WAS THE FIRST TIME YOU FELT AN EMOTIONAL REACTION TO FOOD? When I first arrived in Los Angeles, I was able to land a position at the world-renowned L'Orangerie off of La Cienega Blvd. As a young chef, I really had no idea how the interview process went, so I literally walked up to the back door of the kitchen and knocked on it until Christophe Eme opened the door, saw me in my uniform, and said, “When do you want to work?” I said, “I would love to come in as soon as tomorrow.” He then said, “I want to cook for you and your friend this evening in the dining room. Make sure you look nice”. The meal we received that night was one that will never be forgotten, as it was my first Michelin Star experience. I had never seen service done at this level or food that tasted this outstanding. I wanted to cry; I was so happy.

WHAT IS A FAVORITE FOOD OR INGREDIENT YOU LOVE TO WORK WITH FOR THE WINTER SEASON IN FLORIDA? Well, very different from the rest of the country, the winter season in Florida is an absolute treat. This is when all of our local farms are in peak season and are able to produce some of the most beautiful vegetables I've ever seen- such as baby turnips, heirloom carrots, beautiful onions, tomatillos, and some of the sweetest tomatoes ever!

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR CULINARY VALUES? We always stay true to supporting small local farms and treating each other with respect, and one of the most important things is treating our product with love and care from the moment it comes in the back door until the second someone takes their first bite.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR DISH THAT CAME OUT OF INSTITUTING YOUR CULINARY VALUES? Our glazed mushrooms are sourced from a local farm, and the sauce was made from a collaboration between our cooks and chefs.

WHAT DOES YOUR TABLE LOOK LIKE AT HOME? Well, with three daughters, the table is pretty much a disaster 50% of the time, but we do put up some really delicious and beautiful food in between the mess!

Architectural Alchemy KEN GOLEN DESIGNS' MODERN MARVELS TRANSFORMING SOUTH FLORIDA'S TRADITIONAL LANDSCAPE INTO CONTEMPORARY MASTERPIECES Written by Madison Bailey Photography by Callie Jones

A

midst the vibrance of South Florida's architectural identity, where Mediterranean-style homes and Ranch Architecture reign supreme, Ken Golen Designs emerges as a beacon of contemporary

brilliance. While the state's coastal allure is often synonymous with luxurious living, Ken's dedication carves a unique niche in the luxury design industry, bringing a touch of modern sophistication to each of his projects. With a career spanning over 25 years, Golen, a Miami native, has curated an exceptional portfolio of projects, showcasing his prowess in reinventing spaces and redefining contemporary aesthetics. From meticulously crafted living rooms to avant-garde kitchens, Golen's work reflects not only his technical expertise but also a keen understanding of the evolving tastes of the elite clientele in the Sunshine State. This project’s transformation extended to intricate details like paper-mache style art and hand-made Ecuadorian furniture. As we delve into his unique perspective, Golen sheds light on the delicate balance between aesthetics and functionality, offering a glimpse into the intriguing collaboration that unfolded during a contemporary makeover of a client’s residence.

LUX: Lighting also plays a crucial role in your designs. Can you elaborate on how unique lighting fixtures contributed to the overall aesthetic of this project? KG: The client expressed a desire for lighting that goes beyond the ordinary. We went to showrooms and explored unconventional options, ultimately choosing fixtures that I had previously used in a grand ballroom project. The result was magnificent. LUX: Your projects often feature unique handmade furniture and custom-designed pieces. Can you share the story behind the furniture? KG: I sourced all the furniture from Ecuador for this particular project. They specialize in crafting exceptional handmade furniture. The pieces are made of high-quality materials and luxurious leathers, which create a sophisticated and unique feel.

79

LUX: What do you think sets Ken Golen Designs apart from other firms in Florida? KG: A lot of design firms tend to be generic, creating homes that, when you step inside, look identical. My philosophy has always been to avoid replicating designs, and I want to make the design process fun. I try to get to know my clients and make the journey enjoyable and not overwhelming with seriousness. I want them to feel a connection to their living space, and that involves understanding them and creating something truly different. LUX: And finally, what do you wake up looking forward to? KG: If I have to give you a goal, my goal is not to stress through my life.

estled just a stone's throw away from the iconic Newport, Rhode Island's latest boutique

hotel gem, The Pell, stands as a testament to affordable luxury and coastal charisma in Middletown. A member of the Hyatt Joie de Vivre hotel collection, The Pell goes beyond being a place to stay; it crafts an immersive experience that captures the essence of the city’s spirit. A recent conversation with Graham Jones of GRJ LLC, the owner and developer of The Pell, and Erik Berlied, its dedicated General Manager, offered a glimpse into the hotel's unique charm and atmosphere.

DISTINCTIVE FEATURES AND ENCHANTING DESIGN "The Pell aims to serve as a unique stay and a place that can stand the test of time,” says Jones. “Our concept was always premised on affordable luxury." The property boasts 127 rooms and a beautiful backyard, soon to be complemented by an outdoor pool and a full-service restaurant. A guest favorite room? The carefully curated library space, with its coastal chic design and cozy touch, reflects the essence of Newport and Aquidneck Island. Initially built in 1989, The Pell underwent a transformative renovation. The result is a modern bohemian design that harmonizes with the coastal surroundings. With calming, neutral palettes, natural elements, and chic interiors, the atmosphere exudes light-hearted energy and an inviting spirit.

110

CULINARY DELIGHTS AT THE HELMWAY The heart of The Pell lies in its signature restaurant, The Helmway. Under the culinary guidance of Executive Chef Will Wallbank, the restaurant serves breakfast and dinner with a commitment to locally sourced, sustainably produced, high-quality ingredients. The ever-evolving menu and seasonal cocktail list ensure a delightful culinary journey for guests and visitors alike. "The menu reflects my passion for local, sustainably sourced high-quality ingredients," explains Executive Chef Will Wallbank in a PR statement introducing the hotel. "We work with local farms and fishermen to deliver fresh options for guests and visitors of Aquidneck Island."

AFFORDABLE LUXURY Beyond accommodation, The Pell provides 1,250 square feet of customizable meeting and event space, making it an ideal choice for intimate wedding receptions, pre-and post-wedding events, or small business meetings for up to 40 guests. The hotel also features a business center, exercise facility, and complimentary parking. Jones envisions The Pell as a place where guests can revel in the charm of Aquidneck Island without the steep costs associated with downtown Newport. He emphasizes, "We're more than just a hotel; we're a lifestyle brand, offering a unique stay that reflects the character of Newport but at a fraction of the cost." Looking ahead, The Pell has exciting plans on the horizon. With the impending completion of the outdoor pool and a commitment to hosting events that captivate both guests and locals, Jones envisions a bright future for the hotel: "We're continually refining our design and direction, ensuring that The Pell remains a standout destination in Middletown."

or more than 130 years, the Aprea brothers’ vessels have ruled the seas with a blend of power and elegance—the embodiment of Sorrento’s seafaring legacy. The latest creation, a collaboration with the esteemed family and

Michael Sinacola, is the 2023 Lancia Aprea line and its initial 52-foot model. The craft took center stage at three prominent boating expos in September, the Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa Boat Show, and Monaco Yacht Show, clinching a coveted nomination for the “2024 European Powerboat Award” in the 20-meter class. “This is a prestigious nomination for any boat, let alone for one in the year of a new brand,” Fratelli Aprea USA President Michael Sinacola says. “This design is a new evolution. It features a blending of the timelessness of a historical model with the artisanal characteristics and innovation we’re known for.”

114

115

The source of inspiration referenced by Sinacola is the Lancia Sorrentina, a vessel that served as a carrier for port-bound lemons from Capri and Sorrento and a means of transportation for celebrities and seasoned jetsetters. Drawing from this iconic boat, Sinacola explains that the team undertook a meticulous two-year process, infusing it with contemporary elements while preserving its soul and giving careful consideration to every detail. “This was a distinct opportunity for us,” Sinacola says. “Some modern designs are harsh, lifeless, and almost sterile. Being able to infuse modern design with old world passion for this deeply-rooted Italian art was a really wonderful opportunity—to produce something that people will appreciate from all perspectives.”

116

The debut of the Lancia Aprea 52 marks the initiation of a comprehensive series, spanning from 32 to 72 feet, meticulously crafted to cater to the discerning preferences of yachting enthusiasts. Capable of achieving speeds ranging from 34 to 50 knots, contingent upon the chosen engine package, this model presents a walkaround style characterized by sleek, robust lines, emphasizing both cruising capability and comfort. There are multiple layouts and options for the Lancia 52. Variations in propulsion type, deck layout, and interior design allow endless choices to optimize the owner’s experience onboard. The Lancia Aprea 52 boasts up to three cabins and two bathrooms and is adaptable for use with MANi6 800 shaft inline diesel engines, Volvo Penta Pods IPS800, or four Mercury Verado 600 V12 outboards. “Our Mediterranean market tends to favor light woods and colors, while our U.S. clientele leans more towards high-gloss mahogany finishes and cabinetry,” Sinacola says. “The boat features three Garman GPS touch screens, full JL Audio sound system, plus joystick controls and a Sea Keeper.”

fashion show by Veronica Beard will help support the cause, which is an integral facet of the brand–the couture clothier supports charities on a quarterly basis and has raised over $3.5 million dollars so far. You can catch a glimpse of their clothing line while dining at a luncheon provided by the National Polo Center’s chefs led by restaurateur Tim Gannon, Chairman Polo Club at NPC. The fashionable event is sure to draw a crowd to support these businesses and individuals in an effort to raise funds for The Kevin Babington Foundation. Established in 2019 after showjumper Kevin

Lora Drasner, author of Sunsets, gave the book to Kevin and Dianna Babington. Lora will participate in a book signing at NPC in April.

Babington suffered a complete spinal injury after a fall during the Hamptons Classic Horse Show, and the foundation was created to make available funding for grants to assist show-jumping athletes who have been severely injured in order to provide access to necessary medical care. Hard-working and diligent, Jolicoeur’s well-deserved reputation has earned her a loyal clientele, many of whom have become personal friends, while also making her one of the area’s top agents. “I have been fortunate to be able to turn my passion for horses and the sport into a career that I love,” explained Jolicoeur, whose hallmarks are honesty and integrity. “While it can be a difficult job at times – just like riding a horse, you have your ups and your downs and your wins and your losses – but for me, real estate is a passion. People ask me if I miss riding and sometimes, I do, but for me there is nothing more exciting than the moment a contract is accepted! It’s kind of like waiting to see if your time in the jump-off was fast enough to win.” Jolicoeur is closely tied to the equestrian community in Wellington and is a long-time sponsor of the world-renowned Winter Equestrian Festival, which runs for 13 consecutive weeks throughout the winter season at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. “The one thing most people in Wellington have in common is that
