HISTORY& BACKGROUND

We have been breeding quality Purebred Charolais range cattle in the Cascade Mountains Since our first private treaty Charolais bulls sold in 1974! Over the years, we have used Top AI and walking herd sires with genetics that work for our environment. We select for big powerful hindquarters, big scrotals, calving ease and structural soundness. In 2014 we started our Red Charolais program with the purchase of JWX RED CRYSTAL 3B! Our Charolais females are hardy and uphold a sound body structure while sustaining maternal performance. The cows and herd bulls run on mountain pasture from May 1st to mid November on steep rugged Forest Service grazing allotments in the Cascade mountains. Cow calf pairs travel in elevation ranges from 2000-6500 feet sustaining on native grasses through the grazing season. All of our calves conceived on the range are DNA Parentage tested through Igenity to confirm their sires.

Bid from your phone, or home computer at your convenience! bidding on the lots will open March 14th and close March 16th at 6:30 PM Pacific standard time. Our yearling bull offering is an exciting set of calving ease bulls including 6 Red factor bulls averaging 76lbs at birth!

All our bulls are raised in rugged mountain country! They are MOUNTAIN RAISED, sound and athletic, not over-conditioned. The yearling bulls are gathered from the high-mountain country by horseback in lateJuly to early August, weaned and backgrounded to prep for the feedlot. As weanlings and yearlings our 2 year old bulls are developed slowly on free choice hay and protein blocks in the winter, and run on rugged mountain rangeland and some pasture through spring and summer. Our bulls are free moving and correct and we believe they will excel in any type of terrain or climate. The average daily gains were calculated over a 120 day period at Beus Feedlot in Pasco, WA.

Feel free to call any one of us to discuss our Bulls . Our Bulls are available to view at Beus Feedlot at 503 E. Vineyard Lane in Pasco, WA, 99301 at any time up to Sunday 3/16/2025 at 6:30 pm! What is a Red Charolais?

Red Charolais are Pure Charolais genetics, they are not crossed with other breeds of cattle. Typical Charolais cattle are almost all homozygous for a dilution gene causing there hair color to dilute to white. Red Charolais cattle result when rare individuals do not have the dilute color gene allowing their color to be expressed as cream or tan with darker pigments. A number of years ago, Canadian breeders took notice of these individuals and began selectively mating “off-white” or tan animals to develop a strain of purebred “Red Factor” cattle within the Charolais breed. Red Charolais color can range from buckskin to dark Cherry red. Often, the dark red Charolais are non diluters ( Lacking the dilute color gene). Red Charolais can produce red and black hided cattle when bred to darker colored breeds and may reduce the occurrence of “grey curly” or “rat tail” calves.

Red Charolais continue to gain popularity among commercial producers. The ability to create red and black hided calves, while retaining the hybrid vigor and growth of the Charolais breed is appealing. We started incorporating Top Red Charolais Genetics in our white Charolais herd in 2014. We continue to grow our red Charolais cow herd built from our hardy mountain raised Charolais females. We also use our dark Red Charolais bulls on our commercial cattle with great success!
