EXHIBITOR UPDATE

29 Sept – 1 Oct 2015 · NEC, Birmingham “The complete production line event”

PPMA Show goes from strength to strength

Preparations for the PPMA Show 2015 (29 Sept–1 Oct 2015, NEC, Birmingham) are well underway – and if last year’s success is anything to go by, it’s set to be an unmissable event! The UK’s premier free-to-attend complete production line event is going from strength to strength since coming back under the sole ownership and management of the PPMA Group of Associations. The 2014 exhibition was declared a resounding success, attracting over 320 exhibitors and 8,190 visitors. And with Lord Digby Jones now confirmed to open the 2015 event, expectations for this year are even higher.

Plans for this year’s event are already well underway, with added investment for features such as the PPMA Show TV, which proved popular with exhibitors, visitors and speakers alike,” adds Grant.

“Featuring a wide range of innovation, new product launches, live machinery demonstrations and strong seminar content, with insights from industry leaders – including Coca-Cola Enterprises, M&S, Tesco and the Groceries Code Adjudicator, Christine Tacon – the 2014 event has set high expectations for the 2015 exhibition,” reveals Grant Collier, Head of Marketing and Publishing for the PPMA Group. “The 2014 show, sponsored by Lloyds Bank, wrapped up a record year for the PPMA, with membership soaring to over 420 members – an increase of 81 new companies.

Now in its 28th year, the PPMA Show 2015 will once again bring together buyers and sellers in a forum in which to meet existing and new customers, liaise with the industry, develop relationships, discuss the latest pressing trends and carry out business. Our PPMA Show website (www.ppmashow.co.uk) is now live, enabling visitors and exhibitors to explore new features and plan for a busier, more action-packed show than ever before. But with almost three times the expected level of exhibitors rebooking stand space for the 2015 edition immediately after last year’s show, you’ll need to be quick if you want to make the most of the opportunities on offer. “Stand sales have been well above levels expected; with seven months still to go over 80% of the stand space is already reserved,” reports David Harrison, Group Exhibition Manager. “It’s pleasing to see bookings from across the industry, with some very large stands such as SMC at over 200m2.”

“We have been blown away by the interest in our products and came away with some great quality leads. We intend to continue to exhibit at the PPMA Show in future years.”

“The show’s set up this year has been fantastic. It has an excellent reputation throughout the industry and for that reason we will be returning to exhibit in 2015.”

Lord Digby Jones set to open the show

Who visits?

The PPMA Show is attended by thousands of end-users and buyers from a wide range of sectors each year. Take a look at our typical visitor profile.

We are delighted to announce that Lord Digby Jones will officially open the PPMA Show 2015 at 10am on 29 September. Former Director General of the CBI and Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Lord Jones is a passionate advocate of British business. “Lord Jones has always been a stalwart supporter of British industry and with the continued upward trend in UK manufacturing, we thought it befitting for him to deliver the keynote address and visit stand holders across the 2015 exhibition,” says Grant Jamieson, Chairman of the PPMA Show.

What our visitors say “In a digital age some people would say that trade shows are less relevant but I like to talk to people and physically see machines in action, which is what the PPMA Show provides.”

Make yours a ‘destination’ stand! Make sure that your stand is one that every visitor wants to see by raising awareness of your activities well in advance of the show. Press, end-users and buyers alike will be looking to maximise their time at the show by creating a ‘hit list’ of those stands that are already creating a buzz before the doors have even opened. To ensure that your company’s stand is at the top of our visitors’ wish list, send details of any planned product launches, innovations, company announcements, demonstrations and stand activities to: ppma@stormcom.co.uk

Chris Hutchison, Process Engineer, Holmesterne

“Good for learning about new machinery and discovering new business opportunities – you don’t realise how advanced some of the systems are that are on offer.” Will Anderson, BST Detectable Products

“It’s important for Tesco to attend exhibitions such as the PPMA Show as we want to be able to access technologies that excite consumers. It also provides us with wider access to manufacturers and a route to contact with them.” Paul Earnshaw, Packaging Manager, Tesco PLC

Jaguar Land Rover confirmed for seminar programme Following the success of last year’s PPMA Show seminar programme, which featured a presentation from the Groceries Code Adjudicator Christine Tacon, we are pleased to confirm that this year’s seminar sessions will include a presentation from Jaguar Land Rover. “Jaguar Land Rover’s speaker will demonstrate how industrial vision systems integrate to form the perfect partnership with robot applications in the assembly of quality vehicles,” outlines Grant Collier, PPMA Head of Marketing and Publishing.

Want to feature in Machinery Update?

The seminar programme will also feature sessions on many of the key issues affecting the industry, such as the national skills shortage, late payments from large customers to suppliers, apprenticeships and the opportunities they create, and the latest on the changing relationships between multiple retailers and suppliers. “We are also planning sessions covering a young person’s perspective on the food sector, automation, and presentations from some of the UK’s major supermarkets,” adds Grant. “Watch this space as more leading names are announced.”

Sent to 9,000+ individually named processing and packaging machinery buyers – and read by thousands more – Machinery Update is the only journal dedicated to equipment machinery. For a chance to feature in the publication’s PPMA Show Preview, make sure to send your press releases and photos to publishing@ppma.co.uk by the deadline of 10 August 2015.

Putting our BEST foot forward A key theme of the PPMA Show 2015 will be exploring issues impacting the supply chain; in particular the well-documented skills shortage within the manufacturing industry. In fact, as a result of the success of the 2014 exhibition, some of the revenue from the show will now be donated to PPMA’s new Business Education Skills and Training (PPMA BEST) programme – a charitable wing of the PPMA set up specifically to address the skills shortage and other training issues. The new division, officially launched in 2015, will highlight and promote the benefits of apprenticeships throughout the industry, reinforcing how the skills shortage can be resolved through improved engagement between the industry and academia.

By Sutton Winson Raise your company’s profile by taking advantage of one of our competitive PPMA Group Industry Awards sponsorship packages.

In an effort to encourage young engineers into the sector, the PPMA Show will also continue to recognise the contributions of processing and packaging professionals under the age of 35 through our Ones to Watch Award and Apprentice of the Year Award, helping to highlight the very best of new talent working in the industry.
