SOPHOMOREYEAR
WELCOMETO MYsophomore year
This year I called 2419 Rio Grande Street my home. I was so fortunate to have been able to live in this house with 55 other girls. My year started off with moving to the Delta Gamma house for sorority recruitment. During recruitment I met my current little, Kendell, a fellow out of stater from Nashville and one of my closest friends. I also grew so incredibly close to my best friends Anna, Haley, Emma and my roommate Addie. If you had told me in high school that I would be so incredibly lucky to have them by my side, I would not have believed you. This girls have become my ride or die since August. In fact, in March we took a trip to California to visit Emma and Addie’s home in Southern California.
In California, I took my first trip to my friends home. We started off in Newport Beach, where Emma is from, before Addie and I separated from our friends and ventured to Carlsbad, California where she is from. There I got be see her hometown, which I am forever jealous from coming from a land locked individual and meet her hometown friends who were also on spring break.
The spring break trip was a highlight of the year, but really every small moment throughout this year has been eternally special. As I get older, I have begun to fear when I will mourn the days where my friends were a few doors away and every night we ate dinner together at the DG house. Where I find friends by the pool in the hours between classes on sunny days. Even just small conversations as I fold my laundry mean so much. This place has given me such a strong and important community that I have really began to be so grateful for as I hit the halfway mark on my college career. Nothing is as valuable as what I have gained from this people in the past two years.
As I close this school year, I am looking at my next two and how to make the most of them. I am living in the sorority house gain and can’t wait for the meal gossip sessions and the sunsets on the roofs. I can’t wait to continue to try and eat at every restaurant in Austin. I can’t wait to continue to explore and try new things and make new friends while I still can. It’s sad its halfway over, but I cannot wait for the next half to begin in August.
