Our ultimate goal is improving investor confidence in York County, a truly remarkable place. Of course, we are proudly biased!

It is an honor to take over the helm at the York County Economic Alliance and to work with such a dedicated team of professionals and supportive volunteers.

It is my hope that these pages will help you to gain a better understanding of this organization. As York County’s chamber of commerce and economic development organization, we are a one-stop resource center to connect people, businesses, and opportunities.

MUNICIPAL OUTREACH ACTIVITIES:

» Provided fiscal sponsorship for several community projects including Creativity Unleashed, Friends of

Hanover State Theatre, and The Vault Theater Company » Provided fiscal sponsorship for Main Street Hanover activities not limited to Chalk It Up, Sip & Stroll, Beautification, Geocaching, Christmas Program, and Main Street Mini Golf REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF YORK (RACY): » Served as a funding conduit for a $1 million Industrial Site Reuse Program (ISRP) grant for West Campus project for environmental remediation » Worked with NorthPoint Development to complete the $30 million development project, Eden Road Logistics Center, and welcomed the new tenant, Post Cereal, in October 2016 » Working with the County Commissioners and the York County Planning Commission in the development of several municipal blight remediation tools including the possible creation of a York County Land Bank Authority and a Single Property Blight Committee YORK COUNTY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (YCIDA): » The York County Industrial Development Authority (YCIDA) announced on January 5, 2016, that it finalized the purchase of the historic Yorktowne Hotel, an iconic community asset and the only full-service hotel in downtown York. The purchase of the hotel was the first step in a strategic plan for the Yorktowne property. Over the next six months, the YCIDA developed a comprehensive plan to improve the property’s use that will enhance the overall visitor experience, with a targeted renovation budget of $20 million. Through a public charrette and other means, the YCIDA collected, and continues to collect, insights and opinions from the York County community

» Two candidate debates throughout the year » Combined debates of the 31st Senate District and 92nd District in the spring. 95th District debate in fall. Provided members with opportunity to learn more about candidates and their stances on issues Legislative Luncheons » Over 220 people heard from members of the York County delegation on important issues businesses are facing at the spring and fall luncheons COMMITTEE ACTIVITIES » YCEA provided a testimony at a hearing before the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission on maintaining the 717 area code for York County. The YCEA, based on membership feedback, successfully advocated for the decision of the hearing, which ruled in favor of the overlay option Surveys » In August, members were surveyed on their opinion on the future of the 717 area code and its exhaustion. The majority of our membership voted in favor (66.75% of the vote) for the overlay option, which keeps the 717 area code for all businesses that currently have it, and once 717 area codes are exhausted, the new area code, 223, will be appointed for new numbers » The year 2016 closed with an advocacy priorities survey distributed to membership, in order to develop the 2017 advocacy agenda. Membership expressed their views on legislation, regulatory issues, and doing business in York County POLICIES/RESOLUTIONS » Support Pennsylvania Fairness Act • Prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. best workers » Support Expanded Beer Sales • Modernized the sale of liquor and beer, which allowed grocery stores to also sell wine, direct shipment of wine to consumers, permit gas stations to sell six packs, hospitality industry to sell bottles of wine for takeout, and allow state stores to offer discounts » Support Clean Slate Legislation • To provide those with low-level, nonviolent criminal records a mechanism to have their record sealed from public view, this legislation applies to non-violent misdemeanor convictions and non-conviction records 10

MAIN STREET HANOVER » Main Street Hanover is a partnership of Hanover Borough, Hanover Chamber, and YCEA » Implemented a robust Façade Grant program, using Department of Community and Economic Development Grants as a Designated Keystone Community, leveraging over $106,000 in investment into properties in downtown Hanover » Main Street Hanover works with the four local service clubs to fundraise and facilitate the Christmas activities in downtown Hanover • Decorated the four Center Square quadrants with lights • Encouraged holiday shopping in Hanover’s core commercial business district • Held 3rd Annual Christmas Tree Wars — 31 unique Christmas trees • Santa’s Cabin hosted over 2,100 children coming to visit Santa » Main Street Hanover announced its new status as a 2016 Main Street America Accredited Program. The Main Street America program accreditation process evaluates Main Street programs according to 10 performance standards and provides national recognition to those that meet these standards The 10 Standards of Performance 1.
