THE CREATIVE HUB PARK individual project

The design aims to revive an empty and lifeless park in the middle of the city with a strategic site that is surrounded by roads and can be seen from each sides, by creating spaces for various activities, such as commercial activities (with restaurants and snacks), creative activities, sports activities, playgrounds, resting, and picnics. The program is divided into 3 parts following the contour of the park, a commercial center in the front, a creative hub at the center, and a playground and resting space at the end of the park with a stage in the middle. The whole space is then connected through a bridge that spans throughout the park to highlight the connectivity and journey across the spaces.

I HOUSE individual project

A home for a family of six, located at a 150 m2 hook site. The design highlights the pathway in the house, and how the walk to every space for every activity can be felt as a journey with the play of open and closed space, as well as the play of different elevations. Through the play of openings and void pockets, nature is included in every space, making sure the house receives an opening to nature and natural airflow. The programs are separated by using the first floor as the public space (living room, kitchen, dining room, and backyard), then the second and third floors as the family's private space. For the interiority, wood is used as material for the elements and furniture to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere and harmony with the vegetation around the house.

Final

Senegal has been suffering with a school shortage, which has resulted in overcrowded classrooms. Furthermore, education in Senegal is frequently hampered by the hygiene issue of a lack of clean water supply, which leads students to leave school to travel to a distant river. To address these challenges, we propose a transforming school with the flexibility and adaptability to transform into needed functions and an integrated water system to improve hygiene conditions as well as the learning process of the students. These ideas are created using expandable boundaries and a water harvesting system. The expandable boundary system allows the spaces to be divided or combined to accommodate diverse needs for space for different functions. On the other hand, the water harvesting system is created by making several water bodies to receive water from rainwater harvesting (through the slanted roof) or from manual water collecting from the community. We design the program to enhance the connectivity and adaptability of the space to transform. The laboratory in the middle acts as the main transformative space as well as the connection towards all programs.

Oasis of Justice is a response to the issue of violence and abuse against women, in the form of sanctuaty for domestic violence victims and a space for discussions to raise awareness about gender equality. The built environment itself, consisting of residential, workshops, and green areas. This project started with analysis of current selected issue (which is gender equality and domestic violence), continued by typology studies of precedents to find the spatial qualities as basic reference (the spatial qualities found: a) layered/ branching circulation, b) visual connectivity to green are and supervisor, c) limited visual connectivity based on program, d) clustered space based on privacy and fuction, e) void pocket, f) bright communal space), then the design is developed by undergoing exploration using scripting method with Grasshopper.

for Las Vegas Affordable Housing Challenge

Las Vegas is known as “The Entertainment City” of the world. But under it, inside the flood tunnels, hides the sufferings of people that live without a home.

Homelessness is one of the biggest issue in Las Vegas, with a 2022 count of 5.645 homeless people. Using flood tunnels as their shelters, homeless people around Las Vegas create their own living space, with limited materials and supplies; no sufficient access to hygiene, lights, and water; and danger from flood attacks lurking every day.

This design aims to address not only the housing crisis in Las Vegas but also its social challenges by creating a new typology of housing in tunnels. We see the idea of living in tunnels as a potential that is brought by the citizen with their survival instinct and try to develop it further into a strategic solution. We use existing abandoned tunnels-above-the ground that are spread throughout Las Vegas as our site which also becomes the main envelope structure of the community housing. Having the tunnel as our main envelope and structure, we focus on creating a system for the citizens to be able to create their own homes based on their needs and wants inside it, using a self-made construction system and affordable materials. The citizens could build their own houses using the given manuals with endless possibilities and varieties. They are also able to modify and move their houses because of the modular and light structure, guaranteeing the adaptability of the housing to time, space, or needs. The flexibility and adaptability that we offer, could further be developed and applied to different sites, such as an abandoned open-plan building, etc.

“Living In Tunnel” pursues a community living inside the tunnel by increasing interactions of the citizen between units by using dynamic partitions and as a whole by having lots of communal space in left-over spaces and green spaces under the openings.

The residentials are made from base modules of 1 x 1 m. The modules are joined and stacked with each other to create the desired units, in which the dimension is based on the activities, the needs, and the users themselves.

To maximize private living space inside the tunnel, the service areas are located in front of the tunnel using the available contour, whereas communal are spread throughout the tunnels and the surroundings. Vegetations and murals are some of the features inserted to highlight this housing and create a more welcoming, warm, and comfortable experience for the users and neighbors.

A piece of land is also added in front of the tunnel, to create a communal space from the front and an open space under it that could be used for commercial, communal, educational space, and other, based on the needs of the citizen.

THE PIXEL OF TUNNEL project for design studio 5

an individual development of Las Vegas Affordable Housing Challenge

Las Vegas is known as the entertainment city of the world. As if the city never sleeps, the lights can be seen from every part of the city. But under it, hides the suffering of people who don’t even have their own homes. In the storm tunnels of Las Vegas, thousands of homeless people live with unfit living conditions and the danger of floods haunting them. To respond to this condition, the design moves the housing into tunnels above the ground.

The Pixel of Tunnels aims to see tunnels as a potential for a living space that could prosper with a good design using community-based design and self-made construction as its core. To do that, The Pixel of Tunnels depicts a house, the primary need of a human being, as something that are constructed from a smaller part of our lives and activities. Those parts are what I define as “pixels” that create a living space for the users.

BWP (Blurred Worlds in Play) academic individual project

An explorative conceptual project challenges the preconceived understanding of what architecture is and what architecture might look like in the future. This project started with a data mining process to create an anti-typology idea of what architecture might evolve to, which was then realized by creating parameters and developing the concept itself. BWP connects reality with the digital world, using interfaces as elements to create various spatial experiences. Therefore, it blurs the boundaries between reality and the digital world. This is a conceptualized future of the evolution of interaction in the virtual game as a new experience that completely unites the two worlds in the form of interface configurations and space design.
