Fabrics and Wallpaper Lulu de Kwiatkowski is the founder and designer of Lulu DK Fabrics and Wallpaper. After graduating from Parsons School of Design, Lulu lived in Paris, studying tromp l’oeil painting. She received her first commissions there, painting large-scale, free-hand murals onto the walls of some of the most fashionable homes in Europe. Lulu took her whimsical wall painting and launched her first collection of Lulu DK fabrics in 1998. It was largely inspired by her travels that took her to locales as far as Kenya, India, Morocco, Europe, Southeast Asia and South America. Henceforth, the brand’s mission has always been to blend old-world artistry and hand-craftsmanship with the joie de vivre of Lulu’s youthful spirit. Lulu’s background in fine art is evident in the painterly, hand-drawn quality of her fabric and wallpaper lines. Her signature style — bold, generous use of color and whimsical designs — has made her creations some of the most sought after and original in the industry. All of Lulu’s designs are hand-painted; they are produced using traditional methods such as handprinting on the finest grounds from France, Italy, Belgium and America. Since the company’s inception, Lulu and her designs have received glowing reviews for her inspiring sense of colors, originality and freshness. She has published an autobiographical art journal of her life, launched a bedding line for Matouk including adult bedding, baby bedding, decorative pillows and table-top, a carpet line for Elson & Company, and furniture collection for Elite Leather Furniture. Lulu has since gathered a strong and fast-growing following throughout the world.
