MARVIN GROVE ART MUSEUM

Course: Material and Techtonics

Typology: Museum

Location: Lawrence, Kansas

The marvin Grove Art Museum Is an Art museum that also has a residency component to it. The project is located in Marvin Grove and embraces the site with tree like light cones that allow light to penatrate deep into the building. With a steep grade the design allows for people to enter up top at street level and work their way through and down the building as it opens up to the northwest.

The Marvin Grove is one of the lowest spots on campus and is densely populated with trees. The site has a dramatic typography that slopes from street level all the way down to the end of the site.

Lower Level

The Lower level walks out to a big porch that is a little bit above the grade. The lower level consits of the mian gallary space, public restrooms, HVAC, and Mech. rooms, service and loading area, and a small kitchen bar.

Levle one is at the street level and is where the main entrance into the museum is. There is a welcome lobby, administration, public restrooms, and art gallaries, and a balcony on the first level

Basement Level

The basement level is below grade entirely and host the residency prat of the museum. There is four apartments, art studios, and storage areas, along with a central courtyard.

HAVEN STUDIO

Location: Lawrence, Kansas

Haven Studio is a net Zero studio home that I helped to construct. The previous design build studio had just gotten the building permit and foundations put it before my studio began second semester. From the floor system to final interior touches I was part of the studio that helped build Haven Studio and create diagrams for the MEP and Solar equipment it utilizes.

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas

The Ozark Timber Lofts was residential mixed use project that was designed for a new booming Bentonville, Arkansas to help create more dense housing. One of the goals of this projects was to think about how the future of housing should be. One of the main focuses of this project was to create housing and room layouts for a wide range of people and be able to balance creating public and private spaces for the residens and to create a community
