How can I create a platform that assists and instills confidence in the population to register and access the COVID-19 vaccine?

Context:
February 2020:
First case of COVID-19 in Costa Rica
June 2021: 03
July 2021:
First announcement of the arrival of the COVID-19 vacines in Costa Rica
Partnership between GBM and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica to oversee the vaccination process through a digital platform designed to assist with user registration
- Government unprepared
- Lack of logistics and infrastructure to handle the pandemic and vaccination efforts
- Time constraint was a critical issue when the project was announced, as the vaccines were expected to arrive in less than 3 weeks, requiring the platform to be operational by that date
- Mistrust among the population regarding the vaccines
Objective
To create a platform where users can register and verify their eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Platform requisites
- Manage the entire vaccination process from registration to vaccine administration for users.
- Act as the initial filter to determine if users are eligible for vaccination.
- Organize the logistics of vaccination.
- Provide a user-friendly vaccination experience for users.
- Offer an accessible platform for all users.
- Provide security and instill confidence in users to promote nationwide vaccination.

My Role
Platform Design/Prototype
- Interface Flow Design.
- User Interaction.
- Screen Creation.
Research and Ideation
In collaboration with the rest of the team, including UX Researcher Jorge Carballo and UX Lead Bryan Artavia, we planned the information architecture of the platform, the user experience flow, and conducted market research and gathered references.
Process/ Methodology: Design Thinking + Sprint
The UX design stage lasted for a total of 2 weeks. 01
Understand (Research)
1. Market study (Benchmarking) of 8 COVID-19 vaccination appointment scheduling platforms from countries such as Germany, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, and Mexico. The aim was to understand the navigation flow and sections of the platform.

Finding: Walmart's platform had the most accessible flow due to its clear segmentation of stages.
2. Interviews with project stakeholders (Representatives from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica)with the objective of understanding project requirements, specifications, and constraints.
Finding: It was revealed that due to logistical issues, reservations would not be made by hour or location.

Ideate (Planning)
After understanding the references at the level of similar platforms and grasping the project's requirements and constraints, a Customer Journey Map was created to comprehend the entire user experience, encompassing both the use of the digital platform and the vaccination logistics at vaccination centers.
Based on this Customer Journey Map, the flow of the digital platform was understood, along with the different sections and their respective information architecture.
Insight: Along with the stakeholders, it was decided to have the registration process provide users with "time slots" of 24 hours through a QR code. This allowed users to visit any vaccination center during their assigned "time slot" to receive their dose.

Prototype (MVP)
A platform was developed to allow users to register for vaccination and determine their eligibility for the vaccine.
Sections
The prototype included screens for the sections of:

- Landing Page
- Menu
- Login / Create Account
- Eligibility Verification
- Personal Data Form
- Successful Registration
- My Vaccine (Before applying doses)
- My Vaccine (After applying doses)
- Generate New QR Code
- Dependent Registry
- Dependents Form
- Dependents Vaccine
- FAQs
- Preventive Information
- Vaccination Centers
- News Blog
- Contact
- Error Screens

Prototype (MVP)
Conclusion:
The UX design of the tablet-responsive platform was successfully completed, and the product entered the development stage. However, due to a contractual issue between the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica and the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, the arrival of the vaccines was canceled, and as a result, the product was never launched.

How can I create a dashboard that allows us to visualize all the biometric verification data in a simple and easy-to-understand way?

Contexto
At the end of 2021, the company GBM solidified a partnership with the Spanish biometric verification company FacePhi. The purpose of this agreement was for GBM and FacePhi to join forces in the technology sector to create a new user identity verification service through digital onboarding and biometric authentication processes. Some time before the partnership was made public, GBM began working on the prototype of the administrative dashboard for the digital onboarding application
Problem / Challenge
- Create a visually appealing dashboard that includes all relevant and informative statistics generated by the digital onboarding application.
- Provide the option to view data for various time periods.
- Maintain a simple and clean design for the user.
Objetivo
Create an internal administrative dashboard that displays the total number of onboardings and authentications (successful and failed) during specific time periods, both in total quantities and through visualization using charts. In addition, create a reporting platform and data history system for the processed data, offering various options to filter the data by process type, time period, status, and channel.
My Role
Dashboard/Prototype Design
Under the guidance of the UX Leader (Bryan Artavia), several iterations of the product were made in accordance with stakeholder requirements. This included designing the interface flow, user interactions, and creating screens.
Research and Ideation
We conducted benchmarking studies to understand how similar platforms from competitors operated. Additionally, in collaboration with the UX Leader (Bryan Artavia), we defined the information architecture of the prototype.
Process / Methodology: Design Thinking + Sprint
The UX design stage took approximately 1 and a half months. Including improvements, the entire product took 2 months to complete (the product was being developed simultaneously with other projects). 01
Understand (Research)
1. Market study (Benchmarking) out of the 12 biometric recognition applications, the 4 most relevant ones for the project were studied based on their use cases, product range, value added compared to the competition, and how the tool operated.
Finding: By analyzing how the competition's services and apps operated, we were able to gain a better understanding of the user flow.

2. Meetings with project stakeholders were held with the objective of understanding the content of the dashboard. There was a lot of dialogue to define the project's focus.
Finding: Through the meetings, we were able to define the elements we wanted to include in the dashboard and how we wanted to present them visually.

Ideate (Planning)
After the interviews with the stakeholders, we were able to define the elements that we wanted to incorporate and display within the dashboard. We then proceeded to create an information architecture.

Challenge: The main challenge was how to make the large amount of information, elements, and data visible in a clean and organized manner.
Four versions of the prototype were created, and in each version, feedback was gathered from the stakeholders in order to synthesize and find the best way to visually represent the elements within the dashboard.

Prototype (Wireframes)
An informative dashboard that incorporated all the requested elements was successfully created, making it easy for users to understand at a glance without overwhelming them.

Sections
The wireframe included screens for the sections of: - Login
- Onboarding Dashboard
- Authentication Dashboard
- Total Data
- Data by Period

- Channel Breakdown
- Reports
- Report Filters
- Create Automated Reports
- Account Settings

Prototype (Wireframes)

Project Status:
After completing the dashboard design and delivering it to the main Product Owner, development continued pending the definition of the alliance between GBM and the biometric authentication company. Although the alliance was announced in 2022 and the technology is expected to be adopted, it's unclear if the product has been launched.

How can I create a platform to help newly arrived young foreigners integrate socially in Costa Rica?

Context
There is currently a large number of young foreigners arriving in the country (Costa Rica) for extended stays, whether for cultural exchange, study, or even work.
Specifically, the lack of knowledge about where to stay, not having a close social circle, and being completely new to the country can generate a lot of doubts and fears for them. They often require support to adapt to a new culture, but finding such support is not easy.
Problem / Challenge
The main challenge of this project was that personally, it was the first digital product I had created. Before this project, I had no experience in designing digital experiences, interaction design, or interface design.
At the project level, the main challenge was to create a platform with complex information architecture because the product had many different flows and focuses.
Objetivo
The goal was to create a digital platform to help young foreigners integrate into the country. The platform offers accommodation, social experiences, tours, and cultural immersion to make the foreigners' experience as smooth as possible and help them feel at home.
Process / Methodology: Design Thinking
The project was part of the User Experience course, which had a workload of 30 hours.
