STUDY ABROAD: COPENHAGEN

WINTER BATHERS HOUSE
Copenhagen is quite a cold city during the winter, yet that doesn’t stop the locals from getting a quick dip into a nearby body of water. The term is ice plunging, and the people usually do them at bath houses as they provide amentities such as warmth, showers, and overall a place to relax and warm up/cool off. We were tasked to design our own winter bath house in relation to the site, the locale, and their needs.
STREET MEKKA
In the United States, you probably have heard of a recreational center like the YMCA. In Denmark, they have GAME which is what they call a street mekka, instead of a recreational center. These mekkas are like urban gyms; they house basketball courts, parkour courses, rockwalls climbing, and more. Street mekkas are usually built in retrofitted warehouses that are interactive during the 4 seasons. We were tasked with desiging our own street mekka at the located site with the locale in mind
