For his first chamber music recital, LuganoMusica's Artist-in-residence Gautier Capuçon has chosen two composers who left their mark on the 19th century with their conception of lyricism. Most of Chopin's works that were not written for the piano were pieces dedicated to the cello, such as his youthful Introduction and Polonaise brillante or his Sonata op. 65, which the composer himself performed at his last public concert. César Franck's Violin Sonata became so widespread that cellist Jules Delsart decided to arrange it for his own instrument, in agreement with the composer.
