Welcome to our Spring Programme INSIDE 2014 promises to be an exciting year for Ludlow Assembly Rooms. Firstly, our Box Office is to relocate to the market square side of the building, amalgamating with the Visitor Information Centre - this will allow both facilities to continue to thrive in these straitened times. A positive outcome from this arrangement will be that our Box Office will once again be open from 10am until 8pm, so booking your seats for top-quality events at the Assembly Rooms will now be easier!

Lucy Worsley A Very British Murder

Since the start of the nineteenth century, the British have been obsessed with the act of killing in cold blood, and with the detection and punishment of those committing this most heinous of crimes.

In this talk, tying in with her recent book and BBC TV series, Lucy explores this phenomenon in forensic detail, examining not only the crimes themselves but also how murder became a form of middle-class entertainment through novels, plays, paintings, and the press.

Dr Lucy Worsley is a historian and Chief Curator at the charity Historic Royal Palaces looking after sites including the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palaces. She has presented numerous television programmes for BBC2 and BBC4.

The Brodsky Quartet A wonderful chance to see the worldclass quartet on stage here in Ludlow; the Brodsky Quartet has performed over 3000 concerts on the major stages of the world and has released more than 60 recordings.

the Adagio to the fiery virtuosity of the Fugue. Schubert’s A Minor is delicate and transparent with its sublime theme from Rosamunde a favourite of the repertoire.

Zemlinsky: String Quartet No. 2

Zemlinsky is perhaps the least-known of the great Viennese composers but his work is no less important. The 2nd String Quartet is a tour-de-force, 40 minutes played without a break, containing crazed and passionate emotion as well as great poignancy. A rare chance to hear this amazing but sadly neglected work in live performance.
