Unlike most firms that separate architecture and interior design, CAI provides both services at the same time. This unified process keeps every element aligned, improves efficiency, and delivers stronger results. By integrating our work, we achieve seamless design coordination, typically saving about 20% compared to hiring separate teams.
To complete your space, we offer tailored furnishings and décor services. We collaborate with you on budgets, timelines, and installation to ensure every piece complements the overall design and enhances the finished environment.
Each project has its own goals, site conditions, and design requirements. We offer flexible service options based on your needs, typically integrating architecture, interior design, decorating, and procurement. Our process adapts to the scope of your project to deliver an efficient and cohesive outcome.
Our mission is to inspire and elevate the appreciation of thoughtful, high-quality design. We combine responsive architecture with intentional interiors to create cohesive spaces that meet each client’s unique needs.
Great design begins with deep understanding. We study site topography, light, climate, even surrounding structures to ensure every element—from interiors to building systems—is integrated into its environment. The result is architecture feeling naturally seamless.
SIMPLICITY
We believe simplicity reveals sophistication. Thoughtful forms and natural materials should speak for themselves, without excess or noise. Our designs respect the complexity of nature by responding with subtlety and clarity.
Design should endure. We don’t chase trends—instead, we focus on proportion, material integrity, and environmental harmony. The result is work that remains beautiful and relevant for generations.
True elegance is felt, not forced. It’s found in the quiet strength of well-resolved details, balanced compositions, and forms that invite pause. Every design is a pursuit of that quiet clarity which separates good architecture from great architecture.
COLLABORATION
We surround ourselves with passionate, like-minded collaborators. Whether internal or external, our teams are aligned by a shared commitment to quality, craft, and context-driven design.

DESIGN EXCELLENCE
We treat every project as an opportunity for design innovation. Through collaboration and iteration, we push beyond the expected to create meaningful, lasting architecture.
CLIENT ENGAGEMENT
The best designs come from understanding people. We invest in strong client relationships to design spaces that reflect how they live, work, and connect.
UNLOCKING VALUE
Design should endure. We don’t chase trends—instead, we focus on proportion, material integrity, and environmental harmony. The result is work that remains beautiful and relevant for generations.
SMART USE OF TECHNOLOGY
We blend analog creativity with digital precision. From early concepts to final documentation, technology helps us move faster, think clearer, and communicate better.
ITERATIVE PROCESS
Design is rarely linear. We explore multiple options, test ideas, and refine solutions to arrive at the strongest possible outcome—built on collective insight.
COLLABORATIVE TEAMS
We work as an integrated team of architects, interior designers, and specialized consultants. This seamless collaboration leads to smarter, more cohesive results.

We offer comprehensive design services—architecture, interior design, décor, and procurement. These services can be provided together for a fully integrated approach; offered individually to suit your project’s needs. From concept to completion, we deliver cohesive, customized solutions, with every detail carefully considered and executed.

Two wings were added on opposite ends: a private wing for the president and their family, and an event space. The private wing features a family room, a master bedroom suite, and two additional bedroom suites upstairs. The event space is a large, glass-roofed venue that connects to the existing pavilion on site.

Location: Birmingham, AL
Completion: 2021 Size: 54,000 sf
Category: Luxury Mixed-Use
Project Description
Armour & Co. is a historic building that previously served as a meat-packing facility located in downtown Birmingham. Now, Armour & Co. is a mixed-use structure that includes 20 luxury loft apartments with community spaces and a shared rooftop all above the 20,000 square foot ground floor of commercial and restaurant space. The building is rehabilitated with an atrium in the center of the structure flooding the interior with natural light. Located in a fast-growing neighborhood in Downtown Birmingham, this luxury building is minutes away from numerous restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

Project Description Project: Christopher Architecture & Interiors
Client Name: Blue Tongue Development
Location: Birmingham, AL
Completion: November 2024
Size: 2,300 sf
Category: Hospitality Entertainment
Pogo is a bar open to the public that is thoughtfully supported by a fully integrated back-of-house program, including dedicated storage, staging space, and a clear separation between public and private functions from the rest of the building. The goal was to create an environment that feels sophisticated, intimate, and warmly inviting—distinct from anything Birmingham currently offers. To achieve this, a variety of experiences were layered within a single space, including traditional bar seating, open soft-seating groupings, and cozy, private stone booths. The project presented several challenges, most notably working within a historic structure while accommodating modern requirements for access and means of egress, as well as mitigating sound transfer from the active restaurant located above.

Project: Caliber
Client Name: Robbie Pike
Location: Homewood, AL
Completion: 2019 Size: 4,200 sf
Category: Upscale Sporting Goods
Project Description
CAI was engaged by both the developer and City of Homewood to re-imagine the 19th Century Depot. CAI’s commercial approach reflects the aesthetic of their residential work in utilizing natural materials, while elevating simplistic but sophisticated design. The interior was designed to mimic a hunting lodge through warm knotty oak floors and ceilings, custom iron light fixtures, and a central double sided fireplace. The fireplace offers focal interest and a sense of comfort. The displays are uniform throughout as they are each custom mill-work pieces that integrate lighting to showcase Caliber’s luxury sporting goods. The success of this award-winning project is attributed to imaginative approach that not only addresses the building, but embraces client parking against city traffic challenges.

Christopher Architecture & Interiors
Client Name:
Christopher Architecture & Interiors
Location: Highland Park, AL
Completion: 2019 Size: 11,635 sf Category: Luxury Office Space
Project Description
Previously a municipal health care facility, this mid-century building was completely renovated. By changing small, dark, enclosed spaces into open work areas filled with natural light, adding both outdoor casual work and leisure zones, the building has been completely transformed into a new luxury office space. The amphitheater was created by excavating existing terrain to the retaining wall then replacing it with an expansive glass wall with large custom pivot doors. This new area floods the lower level with natural light and provides access from the lower level to a unique private area for employees and their pets. The building interior was gutted and redesigned to include large open areas that maximize natural light which contributes to the studio environment for primary use as an architecture firm.

Situated in Irondale off Crestwood Boulevard and 20th Street South, the design prioritizes both operational efficiency and employee comfort. Expansive windows bring natural light into open work areas, while private offices and meeting rooms support focused technical work. The building’s exterior and interior finishes balance industrial robustness with modern sophistication, creating a professional environment tailored to the specialized needs of engineering and construction leaders.

Project Description Project: TA Services
Client Name: TA Services
Location: Leeds, AL
Completion: 2025 Size: 15,000 sf

Located off 9th Street NE and Railroad Avenue NE in Leeds, Alabama, the 15,000-square-foot building is constructed of mass timber, masonry, and wood—materials chosen for their warmth, durability, and sustainability. A portion of the structure fronting 9th Street NE was carefully rebuilt to match the original historic façade, utilizing reclaimed brick from the site preserving its architectural integrity. Inside, open work areas, collaborative meeting spaces, and private offices were designed to support the company’s dynamic freight brokerage, warehousing, and transportation operations. The result is a workplace that respects the past providing a highly functional and forward-thinking environment for this logistics industry leader.
