CPI & PPI Data The Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) are key economic indicators published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and used to measure inflation in the United States. While both indexes measure price-change trends month by month, each serves a distinct purpose. The CPI tracks goods and services—including imports—purchased by urban U.S. households. At a more granular level, it measures price changes in food, housing, medical care, and personal goods and services. The PPI, on the other hand, tracks the entire marketed output of U.S. producers—including manufacturing, agriculture, natural gas and electricity. National Sangria Day Little is known about National Sangria Day, including when it originated or why the summery drink-themed holiday is celebrated in December.
