Belize City, December 10, 2016 The undefeated Coast Guard is leading the Conscious Youth Development Program (CYDP) football playoffs with 6pts, and will be the No.1 seed going into semi-finals at the MCC Garden on Saturday, December 17. The Coast Guard clinched their berth in the semi-finals with a 4-0 win over Hattieville United in Game 2 of their quarterfinals series at the MCC last Saturday, December 10, with a goal apiece from Allen Armstrong, Orvin Wade, Steven Coleman and Addier Duran, who had no trouble scoring on Hattieville’s 7-man team which called it off at the half time break. Coast Guard will face No.4 seed Tut Bay, who won their semi-final spot by a 3-0 win over Joseph Mohamedali vs Yabra FC, with 2 goals scored by Brian Martinez Carlos Lino and a 3rd goal from Kevin Rowland. Tut Bay has 3pts advancing to the next round. Kelly Street won the No.3 seed spot with 4pts from a win and a draw and a 1 goal differential. They take on the No. 2 seed Survivors FC, who also have 4pts and a 3 goal differential. After a 1-1 draw with Ladyville FC in Game 1, Kelly Street won Game 2 of their series: 2-1 with goals from Tyrique “Pippin” Muschamp and Kadeem Myers, after Tyrone Parchue had scored first for Kelly St., 2-1 Ladyville FC Ladyville.
Police United Leads PLB playoffs scored their 1st goal in the 22nd minute, Daniel Jimenez added a 2nd goal in the 38th minute, and Byron “Barrow” Usher delivered a 3rd goal in the 49th minute to lead 3-zip; until Shane “Chucky” Flores scored the BDF’s only consolation goal in the 91st minute. In Belize City, FC Belize’s Mexican import Hector Martinez headed the ball away from Bandits’ goalie Shane Moody Orio and into the net in the 35th minute to lead 1-zip at the half. Jerome “Jaro” James equalized for the Bandits, also with a header, in the 74th minute. In game 2 of the playoff series, the Bandits host FC Belize at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium on Saturday night, while Police United visits the BDF at the MCC on Sunday.
