Vibes Alive & Centaur Minions win in O.Walk U-12 football Orange Walk Town, October 4, 2015 Centaur Minions and Vibes Alive each posted wins in the Orange Walk Town Sports Committee’s under-12 8-a-side football tournament at the Orange Walk Technical High School (O.W.T.H.S.) field over the weekend. In Game 1, Vibes Alive shocked Juventus: 5-0. Alex Jose Eco opened the scoreboard when he beat the Juventus’ goalie to the ball on a forward pass and booted it into the net: 1-0. Vibes Alive next won a free kick and Sugar City’s football female phenom Katie Jones stepped up to execute with textbook precision for the 2-0 lead early in the 2nd half. Katie scored a 3rd goal when she stripped a Juventus
defender of the ball and her shot found the back of the net. Katie Jones completed her hat trick with another long distance volley that proved too much for the Juventus keeper: 4-0. Katie Jones next set table for Mark Bainton to blast in a 5th goal for the 5-0 win. In Game 2, Centaur Minions outgunned the Belize team 2-0 in a penalty shootout after a nil-zip draw in regulation. Centaur’s goalkeeper Justin Lopez beat his opposite number for the Minions 1st penalty and Aiden Leiva converted his penalty for the 2-0 win as Lopez shut out the Belize kickers. In Game 3, Young School schooled Blackwater 1-zip with a goal by Chris Garcia. The tournament continues at the O.W.T.H.S. field on Saturday, October 10.
SCA & Nazarene girls win 2 each in CSSSA volleyball

Belize City, October 3, 2015 Defending national champs St Catherine’s Academy and the Nazarene High School girls are leading the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association’s volleyball tournament with 2 wins apiece at Bird’s Isle last week. On Monday, September 28, the SCA girls dominated the Anglican Cathedral College girls: 25-9, 25-3 with Mya Musa, Kevanna Sebastian, Zhazie Mckenzie, Juel Lewis and Alexis Burns spiking home points on balls set by Karen Quan. On Tuesday, the Belize High School girls similarly schooled the Ladyville Technical High School girls: 25-9, 25-11; as Lian Herrera, Mia Miles, Morgan Miles, Ashanti Carr and Ashonti Carr scored points
on balls set by Keila Ouyela. On Wednesday, the Nazarene High girls had to go to 3 sets to win over the Wesley College girls as Princella Samuels, Lederi Betson and Gillian Gonzalez spiked home points on balls set by Kendra Beltran, Maria Zabaleta and Catrin Flowers to win the 2nd and 3rd sets: 25-8 and 15-11 after the Wesley girls had won the 1st set: 29-27. On Thursday, the ACC girls posted their 1st win: 25-13, 25-19 over the Ladyville Tech girls. On Friday, the SCA girls handled the BHS girls 2510, 25-19 for a 2nd win. On Saturday morning, the Ladyville Tech girls took the Nazarene girls to 3 sets as the Ladyville girls remained in the hunt for their first win. The Nazarene girls won 25-22, 25-27 and 1512.

Verdes draws 0-0 with Police in PLB football San Ignacio, October 4, 2015 Week Five of the Premier League of Belize football competition continued at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town on Sunday, where undefeated Police FC held the defending champs Verdes FC of Benque Viejo to a scoreless draw. Deon Macaulay, Jarret Davis and Alcides “Paco” Thomas led the Verdes’ attacks but came up empty the Police defense led by Byron Usher, Frank Lopez, Devon Makin and Darren Myers. Police goalie Jamie Brooks did his job with such fervor that the referee ticketed him with a yellow card Down at the other end, Lennox “Criminal” Castillo, Carlton “Fubu” Thomas and Harrison “Kafu” Roches tried to put the “Law” on the scoreboard, but could not get past the Verdes’ defense of Shamir Pacheco, Jahron Myvett, William Nascimento and Chris Gilharry. Verdes’ goalie Benito Moriera also got ticketed with a yellow card for jumping up for a ball with his cleats exposed. At the end of 90 minutes of regulation and stoppage time, the score remained nil-zip. On Saturday night, the Placencia Assassins drilled Wagiya 5-2 at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence, led by Alex Peters who

Police’s Criminal Castillo scored the Assaassins’s First goal in the nineteenth minute. Kareem Haylock scored a second goal in the thirty-fifth minute, an Ashley Torres scored a third goal in the forty-first minutes to lead three to zero at the half. In the second half, Delone Torres scored the Assassins’ second goal in the fifty sixth minute, before Wagiya’s Eugene Martinez impressed the scoreboard for the first time in the 64th minute. Ashton Torres scored the Assassins fifth goal in the 71st minute and the visitors did not get a second goal until Donnel Arzu scored in the 80th minute. In Belize City, the Belmopan Bandits’ scheduled match with the Belize Defense Force did not play, due to repairs being done to the field.
