POLICE, VERDES & FC BELIZE VIE FOR PLB PLAYOFFS Belize City, November 27, 2016 The undefeated Belmopan Bandits and Belize Defence Force have secured their slots in the Premier League of Belize opening season playoffs, but several teams are vying for the 2 remaining spots with FC Belize at No. 3, Police at No.4, Verdes at No.5 and Assassins with an outside chance at No.6; each with one game remaining to play on Sunday. The Bandits are top dog with 39 pts. from 12 wins and 3 draws, after they bombed Verdes 4-0 at the new Santa Elena stadium with goals by Jerome James, Elroy Smith, and 2 from Jairo Rochez. At the MCC on Sunday, the BDF bombed FC Belize: 2-zip with goals by Trimayne Harris in the 10th minute and Orlando Trapp scored the BDF’s 2nd goal. At the Victor Sanchez Union Stadium in Punta Gorda on Sunday, the Paradise Freedom Fighters blew away Wagiya 3-zip with a goal by Alexander Peters in the 20th minute and 2 more from Jarren Lambey in the 26th and 71st minutes. At the Louisiana field in Orange Walk Town on Sunday, Police United remained in the hunt for the playoffs with a 9-0 win vs. Orange Walk United. The Makin brothers, Andres and Devon, and Dedron Baptist scored 2 goals apiece, while Carlton “Fubu” Thomas and Lennox “Criminal” Castillo scored a goal apiece.

Punta Gorda, November 23, 2016 The Belize Defence Force secured their slot in the Premier League of Belize opening season playoffs and moved up to the No.2 spot in the PLB standing with their 2-1 win vs. the Placencia Assassins at the MCC Garden on Wednesday night. Darrel Lambey scored BDF’s first goal in the 43rd minute, but Assassins’ Ashley Torres headed in the equalizer in the 65th minute. Vallan Symns scored BDF’s 2nd winning goal on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute. The Belmopan Bandits are still No.1 in the PLB, despite a 3-3 draw with the Paradise Freedom Fighters at the Victor Sanchez Union Stadium in Punta Gorda last Wednesday night. Paradise’s Jarren Lambey scored 2 goals in the 19th and 49th minutes and Kyle Flowers scored a 3rd goal in the
70th minute. Bandits’ Elroy Smith equalized 1-1 in the 29th minute and PLB’s top goal scorer Jairo Rochez scored a 2nd goal in the 33rd minute. Ajani Banner scored Bandits’ 3rd goal for the 3-3 draw. In Orange Walk Town Wednesday night, Verdes FC of Benque Viejo walked all over Orange Walk United in a 6-0 pounding at the Louisiana field. Jarret Davis scored Verdes’ 1st goal in the 9th minute, Jamil Cano added a 2nd goal in the 28th minute and Carlos Vasquez scored the 3rd goal in the 30th minute. Orlando “Leechy” Jimenez scored 2 more goals in the 51st and 64th minutes, and Nahjib Guerra scored a 6th goal in the 88th minute. Out west at the Norman Broaster Stadium, Dedron Baptist’s sole tally in the 34th minute was enough to give Police United a chance at the playoffs by a 1-0 win vs. FC Belize.
Trinidad FC & Progresso United Win in OW 1st Division Football Orange Walk Town, November 27, 2016 Progresso FC, Progresso United, Trinidad FC, Chan Pine Ridge and Desert Storm each posted big wins in Week 6 of the Orange Walk Football Association’s amateur league tournament at the People’s Stadium on Sunday. In Game 1, 2 goals by Eliazar “Toto” Itza gave Progresso FC a 2-0 win against Sinbad FC. In Game 2, Chan Pine Ridge won 2-1 vs. Crystal FC with goals by Adiel Carillo in the 24th minute and Juan Rodney in the 89th minutes. Crystal’s Alberto Cassanova scored in the 56th minute. In Game 3, Desert Storm edged San Felipe 3-2 with goals by Arnold Henriquez in the 7th minute, Jason Batun in the 17th minute, and Adler Santos in the 28th minute.
