How to Properly Install a Smoke Detector Typically, smoke detectors should always be installed on every level of your home. This includes placing one inside each bedroom and even in the basement. Prior to taking on this type of task, however, it’s important to know exactly how to install a smoke detector, especially if you will be doing this for the first time.
