Developing associated, content-rich projects in collaboration with leading partners from the business world is a key goal for us. As Main Sponsors, these companies enter into a long-term partnership with the Festival in order to support the development and implementation of individual artistic concepts.

Credit Suisse makes the annual orchestral residency of the Vienna Philharmonic possible. In addition, the Credit Suisse Foundation is dedicated to supporting emerging artists through two awards devoted to the next generation. These are granted annually on an alternating basis: the “Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes” and the “Credit Suisse Young Artist Award.” The focus of the cooperation with the Kühne Foundation is on supporting the internationally recognized Lucerne Festival Orchestra and other selected projects.
Roche is a committed partner of the Lucerne Festival Academy and grants composition commissions in alternating years as part of the Roche Commissions and the Roche Young Commissions. The resulting new works are given their premieres during the Summer Festival. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, both of these Roche Commissions series are taking place simultaneously in 2021.

During the summer, our Festival traditionally follows a basic guiding theme. The 2021 Summer Festival will focus on the theme “crazy,” the German word for which has a double sense (“ver-rückt,” underscored by the hyphen): on one level, it marks something out as going beyond what is regarded as normal, whether that involves crazy characters, delusion, or eccentricity. But it also refers here to composers, works, and performers or to aesthetic processes and historical events that have upended paradigms, broken rules, and opened up new possibilities. The Clariant Foundation supports Lucerne Festival as its Theme Sponsor.
