Music for Future The Generation of Tomorrow
Through the “Music for Future” program, Lucerne Festival is setting the course for what is to come. This heading refers to all of our activities that either serve to promote young talent or that are aimed at young audiences. And we are expanding our commitment to the next generation even further. That’s why, going forward, every Summer Festival will begin with performances by international youth orchestras. In 2021, for example, two Swiss ensembles will encounter an African brass formation and the Russian National Youth Orchestra. Through their eager dedication, about 400 young musicians between the ages of 12 and 22 will show that classical music is hardly a thing of the past but remains fresh and alive. Top-class young professionals will be introduced in our debut concerts; some of them will also subsequently perform in schools. Through the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes, Credit Suisse Young Artist Award, and Fritz Gerber Award, we confer top-class prizes on young artists. And naturally we continue to present the popular family and children’s concerts, which offer a playful approach to music. Best of all: tickets for the “Music for Future” projects are carefully kept at a reasonable price, and some of them are even free.
