Client Profile: Geddes Steakhouse and Distillery is designed for Nashville area residents and tourists aged 21 and over who seek a lively yet luxurious dining and distillery experience to enjoy with friends or family.
Problem Statement: This project transforms the historic James Geddes Engine Co. Firehouse in Nashville, Tennessee, into a vibrant steakhouse and whiskey distillery. Drawing inspiration from Geddes’ Scottish heritage and the cultural history of Nashville, the design will blend luxury with energy to create a uniquely immersive dining experience.

Concept Statement: Inside Geddes Steakhouse and Distillery, the rich history of the firehouse will be honored while also highlighting Geddes’ Scottish heritage. In Scotland, Celtic knots symbolize faith, loyalty, friendship, and interconnection. This symbolism will be embodied in the design of the space, reflected through material choices and the sense of movement throughout the environment.

“The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt whiskey which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whiskey cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask.”

This mood board captures the essence of Scottish heritage through layered textures, rich materials, and historic imagery. It evokes tradition, craftsmanship, and cultural depth by blending scale, form, and tactile elements.

Client Profile: The Cottonwood Care Facility serves older adults aged 65 and up who are seeking a more convenient and supportive lifestyle. The goal is to offer integrated housing, healthcare, and daily services that promote comfort, independence, and community.
Problem Statement: This project aims to repurpose an abandoned mall into a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) that meets the evolving needs of older adults. The design must prioritize openness, diversity, and safety while fostering a sense of belonging and ease.
Concept Statement: The design emphasizes an elegant, clean aesthetic that evokes warmth and reassurance. Thoughtful spatial planning and material choices will create an inviting environment that supports both physical comfort and emotional well-being.
