Transportation
The Canton City Schools Transportation Department is made up of 130 employees who provide service to 34 buildings. We drive over 2,800 miles and transport over 7,800 students per day. Our office is open from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and during the Afterschool Program, we stay out even later until 8:00 p.m! Did you know that a bus driver must perform a 100-point inspection of their school bus every morning before they can leave the parking lot to pick up students? Bus Drivers are required to check all eight mirrors before pulling away from every bus stop and one single bus driver will transport over 300 students in a day! Transporting children is a very serious and important job. We love our job and our students! Now that school is open, please watch for stopped school buses. Several vehicles pass through our stop signs daily. Our drivers are extra careful about where, when and how we pick up and drop off our precious cargo. Please make sure you slow down and stop for buses when you see the lights flashing, and never ever go around a stopped school bus with its stop sign out.
