Creative Cabin
University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning, & Preservation Course: Arch 171: Design Thinking and Making in Architecture Project Duration: 1 Month Professor Alex Donahue Media: Vellum and hand-crafted media The purpose of this project was to design a cabin for Lindsay Stirling. Lindsay is a violinist, singer, songwriter, and dancer. She preselected a oneacre area on Lake Artemesia, College Park. Therefore, the project’s focus was to provide a space where she can relax, eat, sleep, and practice her craft. Since Lindsay enjoys the outdoors and spacious interior spaces, the proposed design provided an open concept that blurred the line between interior and exterior. The design is also derived from a violin, the client’s preferred instrument, and has a specific private and public area.
