Being in clubs must be tiring!
Spencer Is explained a project in Science Olympiad.
By Logan Spackman & Jacob Lyman
Fun, friends, and good times; that's what clubs are all about. A time to hang out with old friends and meet some new ones too. They also help us to set our morales and values high, and think outside the box. They do th ese things all while having a good time and doing what they enjoy. If science is your .thing then Science Olympiad might float your boat. Or maybe you are all about strategy in one-on-one mental combat, then Chess Club might be your game.
For some kids it's a morning routine, and for others it's to escape the time after a school day. Whatever it means to you, clubs are a great way for teens to be involved today. That's why no matter who you are, clubs are fun everyone. Hmmm Where to make my move?
The National Guard assists the chorus in their first patrotic concert of the year.
Chorus students chill out and relax, but It's not all fun and gam e. Students work hard all year learning about music and preparing f concerts - and of course, always have fun while singing!
These were kids who participated in chorus 1st semester but did not in 2nd semester.
Over 120 students p arti c ipated in the two 7th grade bands. These groups combined t o p erform for the 7th grade team Each band had three separate eve ning concerts. Many students from these bands participated i n the Lincoln Public Schools Solo and En semble and performed fo r the Band's Soup Supper.
Over 100 students participated in the"."lst ancl2nd period 8th and 9th grade bands . T he 2 nd period 8th and 9th grade band audl· tlonecl and was Hlected as o ne of only 4 bands In the state chosen to perform for the Neb raska State Band masters Convention. Many lludentl from theH bands participated In the Lincoln Public School's Solo and Ensemb l e, performed for the Band's Soup Supper and participated In va ri ou s Honor Banda.
The lrd period Jazz Band pe rformed seve r al concerts for the student body, they performed In the Lincoln Public Schools Jazz Ban d Contest and In 5 even in g c o ncerts. Most of the students in this c:teu partlcpated In the Li ncoln Public Schoo ls So l o and Ensemble.

As students, we each look at our teachers from different perspect ives. Some of us think of them as fun and nice but others only see them as boring or difficult. Teachers are a huge part of our school lives and help lead us into the future. Every day they transport new information into our world of learning but some of us seem to not appreciate it as much as we should. Wheather you are sitt in g in math class learning slopes and properties or in sc ience d iscovering new cells, faculty is everywhere helpin g you. We all have goals for our future and aspirations for who we want to be. So next time you ·are being lectured about some random subject, just remember how much th is one person will effect your life in the future.

To all Scott Stars,
Looking back at your past can be rewarding. Usually you remember pleasant things that increase your personal sense of feeling good. On the other hand, there may be a few things in the past thal make you feel uncomfortable. If you analyze these memories it is more than likely you have learned to make better decisions as a result of the experiences.
Looking back on the brief time you have been Scott Stars will bring to mind many good things. No matter what your individual past at Scott Middle School may be, try to remember this do not make the mistake of letting yesterday use up too much of the present and future.
You are capable of doing many great things. Give some thought to what these things could be. Help yourself, your family, your community, your country, and your world whenever you have the opportunity. Do not entirely forget your past. Remember the words of George Santayana, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Mrs. Annie Scott Principal

Th is year's Publications staff for The Memory Remains have been gre at workers. We strive for quality and excellence. We have put ma ny hours into this book and we think it has turned out great. Be ing on the yearbook staff is an opportunity to make The Galaxy, our yearbook, and create The Orbit, our school newspaper. While we have been in good old room 200, we have made history here at Scot t, working on all the pages beginning to end.
