ENANIGANS

Everybody 's favorite week of the school year: Spir it Week. Each da y represents something different and it on ly comes around once a year A lot of people participated each day by dress in g up. Which day was your favorite?

You might be wondering how teachers decide on what days to put into Spirit Week. According to Ms. Dieh l, "Student Council makes the choices . They brainstorm ideas, then consol idate them. After that , there 's a value vote. Each student gets to vote for three days. Then they narrow the choices down to the five days of that week.

Lastly, they ask Mr. Schulenberg for approval and move forward. "

1: Black Out Day i one of the most popular Spirit Week events. Mrs. Jurgens' vocal music class had one of the biggest turnouts in the school, with almost 50 tudents in her clas.5 dres.5ing up. 2: th grade teachers making their best student impersonations. 3: Mr. Thatcher' class dressed up as a "throwback" to past movies and events. 4: Alaa I. taking full advantage of Lazy Day. 5: Renee G. looking very teacher professional. 6: Watching her friends make funny faces, Alexis H. hows off her Pink Out Day spirit. Pink Out Day is the most participated day of pirit Week. 7: Going all out are

me of Mr. Van Bibrer' tudents. Thi year, tudent Cbtmcil decided Lazy Day h uld be on the irit Week calendar. "Monday is perfect for Lazy Day. Everyone' tired anyways."

It alwa ys seems lik e students ' persona liti es and att itu des change when Spirit W ee k comes around. Ms Diehl said, ' I think the energ y changes People are e xc ited. My favor it e part is watching ever y one pour out from the buses and see ing all the ways the ki ds dressed up. Overa ll the school has good vibes throughout the w eek " School spirit is strongest dur in g Spirit Week. Students, teachers, even janitors and secretar ies participate. There are a lot of ways to prepare for any test. Some people say that you should get a good night's sleep or eat a good breakfast. But , how do YOU prepare for a big test? Each studen t has their own personal strategy .

"I usually just wing it. If we are having a test that week , th en I study every night like homework. " sa ys Tyl er T. "If it is a vocab test then when I am done with it, I look over and see if I missed any. When I study for math t es ts, I make problems up in my head if I get stuc k. Then I try solving it with different numbers then do the actual problems."

"I study the night before and again when the teacher gives us tim e at the beginning of class so I can be fully prepared. " Alison L. explains So next time you have a test, maybe· try one of these different ways to study or review so you are ready for your test!

Teachers here at Schoo Middle School have lots of jobs. One job that many teachers here like to do is coach , like Ms Diehl. Ms. Diehl has been an assistant coach for 8th grade volleyball for the past three years. She said that this year the girls had more fun because it seemed as if they were put in "friendship circles " for their teams. She also stated that the girls got better at working as a team. In general , all the teams got better at moving their feet and communicating with each other.

ALL 2016

This year 's Fall Publications class started out with a little bit of a struggle without Mr. Witte for almost the first half of the semester, due to his little incident that set us back a little. But, after arriving back to school with lots of help from him , we learned how to make layouts and take better pictures than we had before. The fall semester of publications was hard but the student were able to work through and get a lot done with little time they had.

Blake M.

''My favorite thing was getting to interview somebcx:ly because out of the people I was assigned I chose someone that most people don't know their story and most people wouldn't know their story."

Wilson J

' The hardest thing was having to get intervie from people and trying to get enough words out of them to make a good article or to put onto your page."

Carter P.

"My favorite part would have to be how we get our own time to work on our projects and things because it's more open but knowing there was a deadline at the end of thing ."

Kylie N.

'The hardest thing about publications would be having to do all of the work and making everything perfect for Mr. Witte's liking. "

Another year gone by at Schoo. ere may be other middle schools in Lincoln , but not a single one of them is like us. Many of us couldn't imagine fit ting in with a better group of friends. We couldn't im ag in e walking the halls and having better , tions in between classes. We couldn 't imagi relationships we 've formed with classmates and teachers. Or great opportun iti es in the clubs and other activities we hav e ava ilable to us. Or more fun with those around us.
