You may base how successful your school year was on the grades, classes, and extracurricular activities you took part in. You're best friend however, thinks that their friends, the fun and memories they made, determined it was a successful year. Just how the definition of a good year differs from others, so do the qualities of a "good" TV show. Whether the TV is set on music, history, reality, or the news, TV shows are just another one of the qualities setting you apart from everyone else. TV life may seem perfect, but just like your life, it isn't.

Juggling a high school job can be tough. Life demands money, parents demand good grades, and our bodies demand a good night's rest, yet, many students at Northeast have a job. The two work places that are heavily populated with Northeast students are Hy-Vee and The Legacy Terrace. A job is a great start into the real world when you still have the support of a parent.

One big word that that pumps up everyone to dance, cheer, and get dressed up, is homecoming! • • From getting your hair done, to buying a freshly pressed button up shirt, homecoming is the perfect way to end Spirit Week. Spirit Week is the week building up to homecoming night, where students are privileged to wear wacky clothes according to the themes chosen by our cheerleaders. Along with Spirit Week, we were also awarded the right to hold our first Pep Rally in over thirty years.

enior year approaches faster than som may think. As you walk the halls seein the faces of kids you've gone to school witfu for the past four years, you don't realize that this maybe the last time you' 11 get to see the the people you've became accustomed to seeing each day. Soon enough, we'll all be moving on from high school and starting our own lives, outside of the 'he said, she said' drama, worrying about if our hair looks good, and who's dating who. When graduation day finally arrives, you're sitting next to the friends that have got you through the past four years, you look up in the seats, and see your family and closest friends, you start to look back at the past four year and realized it passed in the blink of an eye. There is always going to be those things you wish you had done, things you wish you would have said. Don't walk off of the stage, tassel turned to the right with the 'coulda woulda shoulda's' running through your head. Walk off the stage with your head held high, and the memories of the firsts and lasts you experienced, the lasting friendships, the crushes, the awards and achievements, taking your team to state, and every inute in-between running through you head.

Although you're still not considered upperclassmen, you're not underclassmen either. You're in the middle. It may not be the highlight of high school, but you can still make it worthwhile.
Alyssa Jensen likes being a sophomore, because she doesn't have as much homework as she did freshman year. Th·s may be the same for other sophomores, t o.
Mattie Wenzl said, "I like being a sophomore, because I like being friends with the upperclassmen and being ab e o dri e."
There are advantages of being a sophomore than a freshman. You're no longer the annoying freshmen stereotype, you can go to candlelight, and you can finally drive. Also, you don't have to take the GOE if you already passed, meaning you get to sleep in later.
CJ Pickrel and Morgan Christle both agree that they are looking forward to going out for lunch next year, as many other sophomores would agree. You will also probably look fo ard to p rkin in the lot. Man are lookin forward to prom and finally being considered an u~ erclassman.

Freshmen, the youngest class oft e year, the newbies, the rookies, the fresh meat, the favorite target of all upper classmen; are hereby welcomed as the newest addition to the Rocket family and to our long and storied traditions. Every year Northeast welcomes more of these fresh young faces into its doors, and they ave possibly the greatest responsi bi Iity of all, maintaining school spirit and school excellence. As the Senior class leaves, it becomes the responsibility of the un ercla ssmen to kee the schoo l oin st rong, and the fresh men will have the lo gesf ime to do so, for their time here is j ust beginning. We at Northeast are proud of our accomplished freshmen, our incoming varsity, our future school leaders and club embers, those that will take up where o hers before them have left off. However, our school needs more, we need more of these school leaders, we need ore involved freshmen to lead Northeast to greater glory. To the freshmen, you've got four years, use them well, and make us all proud.

This is the story of fifty-seven football players, picked to play on the varsity team, work together and try to succeed to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real... The Real World LNE Varsity Football.
Doubted, head turning, fighters and ruthless is how the football team of 2009 described themselves. With many different elements against them they came through and made it to the first round of play-offs and ended the season with 4-6 record, the overall feeling was success, whether the stats showed it or not.
The feeling at the end of the 2009 school year was less than happy, but through the summer after rigorous practices and conditionings the players were all happy with how Coach Justin Smith had taken over " It was difficult being a senior after being on varsity for two years and having to reprove myself," says senior Jordan Leach.
With similar feelings junior Chase Drews states, "Not only did we handle the season well, but it was cool having a new coach. Having to change from playbook to playbook was the hardest part."
Another surprise of this year was having a girl on the team. Though junior, Claire Borer, was just the kicker the team looked at her as an equal. " The only difference between her and us was where she changed before and after practice," says Senior Jordan Hopwood.
When asked how he thought of the team this year senior Drew Broers' onl re I was, "Cham ions."

Volleyball was a sport to be given a new coach as well. Going through new drills, positions and formations, was no small feat for this year's team. "It was hard to adjust at first," says Junior Ciara Hegholz. "Coach Songster was really good about working with us and focusing on fundamentals," reported senior Charli Heath.
The general consensus of the season, though a re-building year, was much around being a large family, growing and learning together as a team, learning new thin s about voile ball and bein an athlete.

This year, our JV girls team has coached by Mike Boshart. They had a rough year, but the team enjoyed each others company. Many of the girls had similar personalities, which maked it easy for them to get along and understand each other.
Sophomore Lizzy Aylward said, "Having a good game or practice makes our team much closer."
Junior Kelsey Sanchez added, "I really enjoy being able to spend time with my friends. I don't always get to see them during school. Plus, they're like my second family."
With days worth of practice, they continued to become better and better each day. The players seemed to enjoy • what they did since most of them had been playing basketball since their freshmen year, if not longer. A few of these players are not sure if they are going to continue playing next year.
The team started out with a rough season, but as time went by, the JV team made progress and began to win games. Sanchez believed it was because they were so sure about winning, that they would loose their lead in the fourth quarter.

The girls attended the annual NCA summer cheer camp in Okoboji, Iowa with goals set high. One of the themes throughout camp was traditions. One of the traditions they upheld was the senior lake jump: the seniors on the last day of camp jump into the lake together. At the end of camp, the cheerleaders' goals were met: they received 4 trophies and had 5 girls recieved the All-American Award! Throughout life you're told numerous sayings about life, one being \\high school will be the best time of your life."
Believe it or not, listen to the cliche sayings you have been told all of your life, don't only explore the meanings, but live by them. Don't let high school be something you regret. Let it be just that, 'the best time of your life.' Because just like any other experience, you will never get it back. Live everyday as if it's yourr la5t. Stay -true to who you are and what you stand for, but never be too scared to try something out of your element. Failure is not the end of the road.
Never worry about the end hat is near, think about what the end has to off er.
