This year's Cross Country season went very well, according to Coach Jon Dawson. "Nearly all of our athletes either set or lowered their personal record times for this year," he said. Seeing all of the athletes make tremen d ous progress was a high point for Dawson and the team, including Paul Pape's 14th place medal at state, and Ama n da Costello's 21st place finish. Both Pape and Costello earned All Ci1y Ho n o r s ----------~
One of the biggest challenges this year was "getting more athletes to come out for our sport," Dawson said. The good news, though, is that the team will have many returning runners next year, including: Karis Parker, Am an da Costello, Emily Grafton, Storm Mellick for the girls team, and Paul Pape, Ryan Hammack, Cooper SotoThuong La, Connor Goodwin , Charlie Neibel , Alex Neukirch for th e boys.

LHS's
he Job
By Alex Zakharchenia
The process of producing a yearbook is fun, interesting, educational, and stressful at times. It is up to students to design everything. Walsworth A.Jblishing Company does the printing. The most important thing is to meet deadlines that Walsworth sets. At first students decide on pages, and pages get assigned. Then follows the designing and hard work of yearbook staff, witch consists of LHS students.
The designing doesn't just take a day or two. It could take up to a month to be completely done with the spread. The information and pictures weren't there for students to use. They have to go out and take pictures, do interviews, and use their computer skills to complete the task they were assigned. All this process gives them good skills in photography, journalism, and designing. On top of this there is always a deadline after deadline waiting. It is a stressful process. Junior Brittany Rice said, "If you sign up for yearbook don't expect it to be easy, expect stress every day."
At the end of the year things don't look as bad as they seem. Every person on yearbook staff is proud that they had part in schools yearbook. Senior Ronesha Hoagland said, 'The yearbook comes out as students want." This is one of the important things Students design pages, and not the teachers or other people. The yearbook is in students hands to design , and everyone does their best to get a good yearbook published
Two of the five freedoms that are granted for American people are freedoms of press and speech. They are exercised by Lincoln High in the form of a newspaper called Advocate. Students are the writers of it and have no limitation to write about what is important to them. The ideas come at brainstorming sessions They are held to create ideas and discuss latest news There were some interesting stories to discuss this year, like Chuck Hagefs visit and State Championship teams Advocate has been running for many years , and this 2007 - 2008 school year has seen a slight change. A new adviser appeared on stage, who is Chris Maly. He really enjoyed advising a student- created publication. It has been a very good year for Advocate. Genni Bachinski who worked three years on Advocate and is graduating this year said " Its been a great three years and rm really going to miss Advocate when I graduate " Other students had also many positive remarks about this year A second year Advocate staff member Emily Rejda said, " I have really enjoyed working on staff and we had a really fun and great year. "
Work on Advocate requires skills and dedication. The newspaper has a circulation of 2 ,000 papers. It is a significant product of our school because it promotes reading and thought. Advocate advisor Chris Maly said, "I find the newspaper to be an important tool for students; it allows thoughts to be worked out and prodded, rather than simply being 'instant'. There in a big difference between these processes." Natalia Ledford has worked on Advocate three years as editor in chief. Her work on Advocate inspired her to be a journalist, and this year she was chosen to represent Nebraska at national conference for aspiring journalists in Washington DC Hard work a/\Nays pays off, thanks to he newspaper staffs hard work Advocate is published

We asked teachers and staff members to bring in pictu1,,es of themselves as childr·en. It's pretty hard to imagine adults as little kids, but here's the p1,,oof that they were once adorable babies and toddle1"S, too.
We also asked them to sha,,,e a childhood memory either related to the photo 01" just something they l"ecalled from when they were growing up. They have taught us a lot and made "us" feel proud of our·selves to have to come this f al" and to believe in us to go as f a1" as we can in life.
For some students it is a big step to have to succeed in school and to just be i11 school.
So thanks to all the teacher·s and staff who have wo1"ked so har·d for us. You a1"e the faces that can never be forgotten.
And also thanks to all of the teache, ..s who tl"ied and who a1"e stilt trying so ha,,,d f 01" us and who keep on pushing us.
We appreciate it, even if we don't always show it or say it.

This school year saw a total of 14 new staff members here at Lincoln High.- Along with the veterans, they had to face a number of challenges in and out of the classroom throughout the year.
Construction projects made things difficult for staff and students this year, l>ut the forged ahead despite the obstacles. From construction detours and noise, colsed hallways, having to move out of riooms ori travel from room to room, teachers and staff have met the challenges with their usual stoicism.
And even though we hardly had a single week without some kind of inter.ruption - assembly , testing, fire alarm, student walkiOut, or adjusted schedule - we all managed to make it through.

sYou have made it through your freshman year, and now you are ready for the middle of your high school years. You've been through the drama, hard times, and through having to pass geometry. You know your way around school and know many teachers. This year is a year to remember your memories of being a sophomore. You 're not the newest kids in the building, but not quite top dogs, either. You've got a bit more freedom, and not yet too much responsibility. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Many of you have turned sixteen this year and now are driving to school and not having your older brother or sister or mom drive you to school because you can drive yourself. Others are passing the classes you thought would be impossible to pass. And of course many of you also have jobs you have to go to so you can get money for the mall or the movies.
Now it's also time to think about the future, what you want to be and how you will get there. This is the time to think about colleges and scholarships. You may think it's too early to worry about it, but the more you do now to prepare, the easier it will be when you get to be a junior or senior.
