One hundred and eighty days a year, Sophomores , Juniors and Seniors file into Lincoln High School methodically, in order to take a handful of classes each semester which will better their future. The decision of which high school to attend is always a tough choice for many of Lincoln's students, but Lincoln High is very often chosen over the other schools. While many students live near the school, over 400 tudents throughout grades 10 - 12 are attending Linco n High from outside the district. This say tha L nc n High is thought of very highly within the Lincoln's city limits.
Lincoln High is about pride, tradition and academic excellence. These principles are constantly shown to the community by Lincoln High's students commitment to do good. Whether it be building a house for

Lincoln High is also the home to over 40 extracurricular clubs including, Campus Life, a variety of Cultural/Ethnic Caucuses. Langua e clubs, and many other s that meet once a month. Lincoln High is also home to the Leadership Develop has. program, which only Lincoln High

What is one best thing about being a junior? Many students agree that being a junior means only one more year left to go. This is the year that is stressed as an important year of high school, often making the school work and social life harder to bear. This is the year that you start taking more challenging classes than before in order to stay on track for graduation. You start to think about what you are going to do after graduation.
Another great thing about becoming a junior is being able to eat lunch outside of the cafeteria. Open lunch periods allow students the choice to go out and eat with their friends. There have beeh times where students will find themselves hurrying to beat the bell to get to class on time. ·
School is more than grades or learning how to make crystals in Chemistry class or learning the quadratic equation in Advanced Algebra. It's the satisfaction . of knowing how to prepare yourselves for the years that are still to come. When time comes around, you will begin to realize that most of the things that you learned in high school came from your junior year.
Right Students pass the time at Locker Checkout getting reacquainted with classmates and making new friends .

Everyone always wants to hurry through junior high so they can move on and ~ecome high school students. However, once they get here, they are at the bottom again. That's not always true though • because sophomores can make a difference at Lincoln High too. Just like juniors and seniors, soph~mores can get involved in clubs, sports,
and a lot of other great activities. Being a sophomore can also mean ma• king new friends for life. Most all good friends are made the sophomore year of high school because we have new classes and we meet new people. From all the seven classes taken, we can make more friends than we started with.

What does it take to be a teacher at Lincoln High? It takes dedication, determination, and desire. It also takes the ability to put up with some of the most obnoxious things that students do or say. There are times when teachers wish that they could just leave school and go home, and times when they realize that there's nothing else they'd rather do.
Teachers don't get much credit for ·some of the things they do for students. They take time away from their lives and families to give us the extra help that we need, like coming early in the morning and staying late so students have a chance to complete any work or tests they are missing.
Every year, there is that one teacher that students can't deal with. But there are also those teachers that everyone adores and wishes they had for all of their classes. Teachers do a lot more than just teach their classes. There are teachers who also coach and train Lincoln High students, as well as sponsor clubs.
•
As students come to school to gain know ledge from teachers, teachers in return are able to learn from their students. Far beyond teaching or advising students , staff members find ways to become positive role models that students can look up to. Students may come to school thinking that all teachers want to do is give them a bad time and pile tons of homework on them, when really they just want to give them the knowledge that they need to go out into the world and become successful.
Out of all the staff members that are here at Lincoln High, 35 are also LHS alumni. Because they liked Lincoln High so much, after they graduated, they returned to give something back to their alma mater.
At the bottom of these pages are the 35 LHS Alumni in chronological order by their graduation year. These are the ones who are keeping the Lincoln High Pride alive. Once a LINK always and forever a LINK!

Student Council started new traditions here at Lincoln High School this year. They put on a dance show at Switch Rally and during half time at basketball games. They creating the Snowflake Semi-formal dance in February letting sophomores attend another dance besides Homecoming.
Charitable events such as the Halloween Trick-or-Treat for Children with Disabilities, Canned Food Drive, May Day Celebration for kids with Disabilities, Make-a-Wish, Blood Drive, St. Judes donati-ons, and community se1-vice played a huge role in keeping Lincoln great.
The rotation of getting to decorate Homecoming was Student Council's Job this year. The gym and hallways were covered in stars and movie posters giving you that "Homecoming in Hollywood" feel.
Student Council gave Lincoln High and the community their commitment and time to make it a bette,~ place.

nAt Lincoln High School, English classes range from Literature to Drama giving each student a chance to find their niche in any English program. From taking pictures to writing essays, students are free to explore the possibilities that studying English opens up to them.
The Writing and Reading Graduation Demonstration exams have been a struggle for some students at LHS. Teachers worked consistently in order to achieve a higher number of students that pass the exam. One of the ways teachers have brought the numbers up, is with a special English class Writing Essentials; devoted to teaching students the requirements needed to pass the lengthy exam.
English at LHS is a door for all students .. Unlike math, which students often question the need of, English plays an obvious role in each student's daily life. Whether or not the student goes on to college, the knowledge acquired in English classes at LHS will always be with them.
Students need to take six semesters of English to graduate from Lincoln High. Many choices are available to students such as: Acting, American Literature, Newspaper, Composition, Photo Journal ism, Multicultural Literature and many more! By Jessica Taylor & Kylie Magnuson

In high school, math is a very important subject. Math is used not only for high school and in college classes but also is used in real life situations. For some students math is difficult and for others could be quite easy. That is why Lincoln High is such a great school because we have all sorts of learning styles and the teachers are good at teaching them.
Here at Lincoln High, teachers teach a variety of math. The main courses taken are transitional math, algebra, geometry, advanced algebra, precalculus, and calculus Their are many other math classes but those are the main ones. Their are also a variety of different teachers and their teaching styles. Some of the math teachers here at Lincoln High are John Catlett, Doug Martin, Don Olsen, Celia Sherman Nancy Beck, Russell Shafer, Cynthia Fuller, Lenny Gish, Micah Heibel, Janice Patterson, Michael Sterns and Shayla Bushhousen They all have their different teaching styles. Which is great for learning here at Lincoln High Lincoln High.

In Social Studies at Lincoln High you need a year of American Government, a semester of Global Studies, 20th Century U.S. History and Citizenship Issues for graduation.
Most students start out thinking Social Studies is 'boring.' Some say it depends on the teacher and the type of class. In reality it's just them prejudging on how the class will be. If they end up thinking it was still boring after taking the class "You allow it [social studies class] to be boring." says Social studies teacher J.P. Caruso. If your still thinking it was boring, it was you attitude.
"Social Studies is about people, life, and reality." said J.P. Caruso. According to the Board of Directors of the National Council for the Social Studies "It's primary purpose is to help young people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world."

The Student Child Learning Center (S/CLC) is a very b~ place. Some students are returning to the center and some are new faces . While us students go about our every day schedule of learning , lunch, and socializing, the sudents and staff in the S/CLC are too.
Maybe you have noticed the little tikes being wheeled around the school on their many walks th~ take , or you have heard them on their v~ own playground laughing and giggling with happiness, or serranading us with their tired cries in the south building.
Not just the students with chidren or the staff visit the center each day, many other students outside of Lincoln High, come to see what the S/CLC is all about. We have many voulenteers from W eslyan , and Bryan Student Nurses, who come through the center every month to do studies and practicums. So it's not just a "Daycare" it 's a learning environment.

ll1e 2 0 0 3 Vocal Music year was abundant with choices of classes for students to grnb for their individual interest. Due to the budget cuts this won't be so for next year. This year we had Concert Choir, Voices of Destiny, Vocal Jazz Choir, Soundsation, and Madrigals for choices.
Due to the cuts we will only have Varsity Women's Choir, Freshman/Sophomore Select Choir, Swing/ Jazz Choir, Concert Choir and Vocal Links for choices. Vocal Links, like Voices of Destiny, is the only choir with which there is no obligation to tryout.
Mr. Wes Hansmeyer was our new Choir Director this yea,~ wo, ~king along side Mrs. Melissa Moates. He was wel comed by the staff and students and we all hope that his talent will stick around for years to come.
We will miss Madrigals, Soundsation, and the Voices of Destiny, but will be happy to participate in the new Choi,~s. •

The Lincoln high vocal music department has been a foundation of this school for many years. 1l1is year, as in years past, stude nts had numerous musical groups to participate in and a wide variety of musical styles to choose from, all of which you must audition for, except for Voices of Destiny which is open to any student.
Wes Hansmeyer and Melissa Moates, who direct Concert Choir, Soundsation, Sophomore Select, Jazz Choir, Voices of Destiny and Madrigals worked with these various groups to hone their singing skills. To prepare Concert Choir for a number of performances throughout the year including Joy Nite and the Lincoln Public Schools Choir Invitational where Concert Choir received a superior , rating. 1l1e teachers really enjoy working with their students. 1l1ey are proud of their

J.V. and reserve volleyball did a fantastic job. Each won lots of great games. All of the members in both teams put a lot of hard work and dedication into winning and making the teams the best they can be.
Sophomore Chelsea Kennel from reserve ·thinks that the team worked hard together and that they all did their best. Abby Hendricksen form J.V. says that her team worked hard and played a lot of good games.
Volleyball players do a lot for the team. They practice each day and get ready for the games trying to secure a win. They bring us our good records for the volleyball players. We thank them for doing such a great job!

Ihe Lincoln High Varsity Softball team was very successful this year. The lady Links placed 7th in wild card points. The teams' success came from 1 1 return~ ing varsity players, 4 who were seniors. The team had 2 swing players to keep the Links strong.
The team had 24 wins and 19· losses with a team combined batting average of 21 4. The Links scored 129 runs as a team effort, by increasing the number of extra base hits. This years team stepped up and hit runs more efficiently than past years
The most memorable game for the girls was playing Norfolk. The game went into 10 innings of intense ball playing when the Links offense took charge. When a runner stole home, the team charged home plate and they al I fell down in excitement taking the win.
This years team captains, Erin Johnson and Glynna Ridge, did an awesome job of keeping the girls on track all the wa to state!

~ e JV and Reserve girls had a rough season, but they still walk around with their heads held high. lyonna Clay of the reserve basketball team said it well, "We work hard and work together, to get to where we want to go with it."
J.V. Coach Corona said, "This is the youngest team I've coached in my past years of coaching. We just needed to practice more and take our games and season more seriously."
This year's J.V. team had all new players except for two, so they faced a number of challenges. The season is done, and the girls will keep their heads up and hope that next season they will know the ropes and can have successful season. Good luck!

Ihis year I knew kind of what we were up against because we had a district that was so tough , and we had the def ending state champions, and three other teams who were rated in the top five in our district," replied Coach Jim Baker. He thoroughly believed in his Junior Varsity and Varsity teams True coaching is what lead to individual success in this sport this year.
1l1e guys had it tough this season, but it gave them the strength for next year. "In the past years you may have had two or three good kids in your bracket, but this year like with Danny Menyweather, there were seven guys who all had winning records who had a possibility for state out of seven so it was very tough," comments Coach Jim Baker on the tough season
Wrestlers are working on next years season all ready giving them a head start. Coach Jim Baker says, "... Their going to do a lot of stuff in the off season to get themselves in shape which is weight training everyone thinks that wrest li ng is a lot of weight lose , but a lot of it is training. they eat well in the off season."

Most J)flople would agree that this year has been one of change.
