Finally...
We've made it! Official high schoolers as of August 20, 2001. Yeah, it's been difficult and scary, but at least we 're finally here. Our first year of high school of course is the best. Going out to lunch when we know we 're not supposed to, having a say in the classes we take, and getting a set of wheels.
Meeting new people is what our sophomore year is all about. Now all we have is two highschool crazed years left. Its great to know we 're off to a good start.

Yes, we are the youngest ones again. As if we need any more torture than we already get! I guess it's not as bad as it seems; yeah, every once in a while an upperclassman will tease & harass us , but it's a great feeling to know that you only have two more years of high school after this. At first I rememer thinking "I actually made it to high school, and1'm doing okay." But now it's a bree z e.
Not saying that recess was a bad thing because it wasn't; we loved it. There are probably a couple of turning points in everyone's life and we should consider this one of the biggest turns.
The fact that we have cars and can go almost anywhere we want, we are given more responsibilities, we have homework galore , we can skip classes and leave for lunch, makes high school so much more fun!

MiUer,
MEMORIH! RE MBER THE TIME WHEN ...
.. we would count how many years until we would be here? And then, try to figure out how old someone el would be? Ah, the memories. Elementary and middle school were the best. R cess, sand boxes, jungle gyms, nap time, snacks, movies and.field trips. Yeah, th se are just some of the great things we'll remember. But now things are changin more than ever. What are the more drastic changes that we've faced as we transi ion into high school? I asked one student, Amanda Davis, what the biggest change or her was. She replied, "The biggest change for me was how I do in school and 'how it affects me in the long run. " She also said, how grades decide what dire tion you go in and what you do for the rest of your life. And we thought high sc ool was so far away!

The Lincoln High Aqualinks synchronized swimming teams have been a part of LHS for many years, dating bac k to the 1980's
They have come a long way since then from different techniques and formations, to of course, new suit styles and new types of music to put to their dances in water .
• 11Are there any guys on the teams?" is a question often heard, and senior Megan Yavoich informed us of one, Chad Davis, on the Varsity team of the Aqualinks. This is Chad's first year as a synchronized swimmer, and from what we
understand, he does very much so enjoy it, so to all those guys out there who know how to swim and would love to show off, come join the Lincoln High Aqualinks!
before, but sometimes there are a few who slip in at the beginning l the season. It's probably a good idea to know how to swim , and beli / ( me, these girls, and guys, work very hard at what they do.
After talking with Megan, I was shocked to hear some of the things she h. to say about her team Some practice everyday during 3rd period, and some pra tice only twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
For our Aqua Iinks however, they practice year-round the s~me techniques to perfection and give on · performance in May that lasts 3 nights. Who knows, maybe some c
synchronized swimming will be recognized as a sport at LHS, they Aqualinks consist of tryouts usually during the year definitely deserve it!
Also, it was a shock to find out t h,. synchronized swimming is considered as p t at Lincoln East High School, and others, an has been for many years, but not at Line al High . For -example, at East, they go to sta ~ and national tournaments.

Before you can become a Lincoln High Bowler you go through some intense sessions of tryouts This year there were 28 students that came to tryouts, and out of those 28 there were only nine girls. This made it harder to decide which to pick, because only six could be on the team, and the same number of boys
Lincoln High's Boys and Girls
Varsity Bowling team has been very tJusy this season since the 14th of November After tryouts they started out with the inner - city competition on Mondays and Wednesdays against other Lincoln area high schools including Pius X. They finished off the week with two hour practices every Friday afternoon Along with this they went away to tournaments every other weekend through
the end of December Then it was almost every weekend till the end of February when the season finished up with the State Tournament in Grand Island Both teams qualified to compete in the state tournament, and the boys team took second place
The girls varsity team has a good sense of team work, they bn something to the game. For example Junior Macalla Gillies was lead off a1 a very solid pacesetter, and freshmen Steph McGinnis was a very stro anchor bowler. Sophomore Angie Hoggatt ai freshman Sarah Hart were set - ups. Sem Jennifer Gwelo and sophomore Sarah Anth t were an excellent match alternating in these ond position.
The boys varsity team had a good sen ~ of team work also They worked hard throu c the season to keep the team on pace . Seni ( Chris Amory is on track to make the 1st teJ on the All State team and senior Bri ,:
Crawford is currently on the 2nd All Sta i team. Brian Crawford also used to compe ~ with one.shot throwing, the biggest hook w sible. Crawford ,has added two to three oth e shots to his repertoire.
This year's coaches were Les Amor (boys) and Patty Meyer (girls) Both coaches have been here with the Linea High bowling team for eight years Mr Amory has been involved with boVv ing for 38 years, and Ms Meyer for 28 years. This year's team was , about working together And their hard work pa id off.
