El sacerdote y otros ministros usan muchos objetos sagrados durante la misa. El sacerdote consagra el pan y el vino sobre una mesa especial llamada altar. El altar nos recuerda que la misa es tanto una comida como un sacrificio. El sacerdote usa un plato llamado patena y una copa llamada cáliz. Después de la misa el sacerdote deposita el Santísimo Sacramento en el sagrario o tabernáculo. Normalmente hay una vela especial en el santuario, colocada cerca del sagrario, que nos recuerda que Jesús está allí. Es la lámpara del sagrario. El sacerdote, durante la misa, viste unas ropas especiales llamadas vestiduras. La túnica blanca se llama alba. The priest and the other ministers at Mass use many sacred objects. The priest consecrates the bread and wine at a special table called the altar. The altar reminds us that the Mass is both a meal and a sacrifice. He uses a plate called a paten and a cup called a chalice. After Mass, he places the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle. A special sanctuary lamp is usually kept lit near the tabernacle to remind us Jesus is there. The priest wears special clothes called vestments during the Mass. His long white robe is called an alb. He wears a colored strip of fabric called a stole over his shoulders. Over his alb, the priest wears a colored, cape-like garment, called a chasuble. Have you noticed the colors the priest wears? The altar might have a cloth on it of the same color.
Green is the color for Ordinary Time. Violet is for the seasons of Lent and Advent. White is for special feast days. Red is for feasts of the Holy Spirit or saints who died for their faith. What color was the priest wearing last Saturday or Sunday?

Review the last lesson/Introduce the topic: Last week, we learned about the Bible. Can anyone tell me one thing they learned about the Bible? (Answers will vary.) Today we’re going to be learning about seven very important ways that we share in God’s life. We call them the seven sacraments. Enseñar sesiones bilingües
Teaching Bilingual Lessons
Al principio del programa pregunta a los niños de dónde, de que países provienen sus familias, etc. Esto le ayudará a usted a conocerlos mejor, a adaptar las sesiones si es necesario y también hará que los niños sean conscientes de la variedad que existe en el grupo. Practica los nombres y apellidos de los niños, para poder pronunciarlos correctamente. Diferentes culturas tienen sus propios conceptos del tiempo. Asegúrate de hablar con los niños y con sus padres acerca de lo importante que es empezar y terminar las sesiones a la hora indicada y que hay que participar en todas las sesiones y reuniones que se organicen. Explica a los niños, y a sus padres, que los textos en inglés y español de su libro son los mismos. Por tanto pueden usar el libro del estudiante en el(los) idioma(s) que prefieran.
Ten en cuenta que todas las culturas latinas no son iguales. No asumas que todos tienen las mismas tradiciones o que usan el mismo vocabulario. No asumas que todos saben los dos idiomas por igual. Si alguien hace una pregunta o comentario en el idioma en el que no se está dando la clase, repítala a todo el grupo en el idioma en el que se desarrolla la sesión. Se consciente de que aunque los niños entiendan el concepto de una palabra, quizás no sepan la traducción de la palabra en el otro idioma.
At the beginning of the program, ask the children to say where they are from and where their family comes from. This will help you get to know the children better, help you adapt the sessions as needed, and make the children aware of the variety that exists in the group. Practice pronouncing the children’s first and last names before saying them aloud. Different cultures have their own concepts about time. Be sure to speak with the children and their parents about the importance of beginning and ending the sessions on time. You should also point out the need to participate in all the sessions and meetings.
Explain to the children and their parents that the English and Spanish texts in their books are the same. For this reason, they can use the workbook in their language of preference. Keep in mind that all Latino cultures are not alike. Do not assume that all share the same traditions or use the same vocabulary.
