WHAT REQUIRES A VFD? WHAT IS A VFD?
A VFD is a written (nonverbal) statement issued by a licensed veterinarian in the course of the veterinarian’s professional practice that authorizes the use of a VFD drug or combination VFD drug in or on an animal feed.
VFD’s are required for antibiotics of medical importance in both humans and livestock. Customers must have a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR VFD’s must be submitted to Lowe’s Pellets & Grain before a product can be picked up.) VFD’s are active for 6 months or until the prescription described in the VFD is filled.
