As the owner and leader, Management by Chaos is extremely destructive, it takes us and our team members off point and chaos, is generally addressed on the run which only masks the problem and in itself ends up creating more chaos which is now connected to consistent changes in your organisation.

Chaos is created by lack of systems, procedures and processes. The lack of structure not only erodes a company’s culture and profit, it also attributes to high levels of stress and staff turnover. If you are Managing

Do you know if what you offer is even competitive, when was the last time you mystery shopped your 3 major competitors to see what they offer, see what they say and see what they say about you? DO YOU PHONE YOUR LOST MANAGEMENTS / LISTINGS TO SEE WHY THEY ARE NOT CHOOSING YOU? You should mystery shop your competitors at least twice a year, as well as ask those competing (your team) for the business what they need on the field. Having this approach and providing your people a distinct advantage and working on their skills, not only will win you and your team more business, it will see you obtain better fees.

WHAT ARE YOUR WORKING ON?

ARE YOU FOR EVER LOOKING OUTWARD, WHAT ABOUT INWARD? WHAT AREAS ARE YOU WORKING ON WITHIN YOURSELF? For ever looking outward, what about inward? What areas are you working on within yourself? You see, you and your people are exactly where you are because of what you know and who you are consistently being. It’s impossible for things to change until you start working on you. A review of the most successful leaders in the world as to what they consistently work on are: They have a thirst for knowledge, they read at least one book per month to improve themselves.

1. They are able to decide with speed and conviction, they have specific goals, therefor have specific actions pre-determined daily, weekly, monthly.

2. They engage for impact, this means they have key strategies designed around bringing their people together and aligning their people to be focused on achieving company’s goals.

3. Adapting/Pro-actively. THE TOP CEOS SPEND AT LEAST 50% OF THEIR TIME FOCUSED ON THE LONG TERM VISION, which forms the bases on how they make their daily decisions and more importantly, adjust their adaptive thinking and decision making, which always tied to the long term vision.

The question we need to ask ourselves, is the tech we are using creating leverage, does it make our team members job easier, and does it give our team members the ability to get better results consistently with less stress, whilst delivering on the clients expectations?

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT?

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT IS THE ADMINISTRATION OF BUSINESS PRACTICES TO CREATE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF EFFICIENCY POSSIBLE. Sounds good in theory, but where do you start? In each department, what is the work flow, what is the outcome, and how many points of contact/actions is there in the chain. Ideally there should be 1 to 2 points/actions, now this is not practical, however, what we often do is over complicate what we do, where true genius is the ability to keep things simple.

The key areas of operational management are: QUALITY, SPEED, DEPENDABILITY, FLEXIBILITY AND COST. These 5 areas need to be considered when creating practices around how your services are delivered.

IN YOUR BUSINESS?

THE SHORT ANSWER IS EVERYONE. WHY? WHAT GETS MEASURED GETS DONE. IF YOUR PEOPLE ARE NOT REPORTING AT THE END OF THEIR DAY, ESSENTIALLY THEY ARE BEING LEFT TO THEIR OWN DEVICES. We all work more effectively when we are either working towards an outcome, deadline and/or being assessed on what we are doing. It also provides your team members the ability to experience job satisfaction, and for you to recognise them and give recognition accordingly. Also, at the same time IDENTIFY PROBLEMS IN REAL TIME.
