On Monday night, we shared very difficult information about the 2024-2025 budget development process. My letter to staff and parents can be accessed here and the February 26th Board Budget Workshop presentation can be accessed at the following link. Making changesduetofundinglimitationsispainfuland challenging because of the impact on our students and staff. Although these decisions are not easy, they are necessary to develop a viable budgetandsupportthefutureofLovejoyISD.
Wewillcontinuetofaceourchallengesheadonwitharelentlessfocusonstudent experience. We are unwavering in our commitment to maintaining excellent academic and extracurricular experiences that Lovejoy ISD students need and deserve. All three groups received 1's (Superior) ratings from all judges on their stage performance and sightreading.

The College Board's Advanced Placement Program provides students with the opportunitytotakerigorouscollege-levelcourseswhilestillinhighschool,andto earncollegecredit,advancedplacement,orbothforsuccessfulperformanceonthe APExams.ThereareseverallevelsofrecognitiongivenbytheCollegeBoard.

Lockerbie is about a mother and father from New Jersey roaming the hills of Lockerbie,Scotlandsearchingfortheremainsoftheirsonthatwerelostinthe crashofPanAmflight103.TheymeetthewomenofLockerbiewhoarefighting the US government to obtain the clothing of the victim's found in the plane's wreckage.Thewomenaredeterminedtoconverttheactofhatredintoanactof love.Theywanttowashtheclothesofthedeadandreturnthemtothevictim's family. This play is inspired by a true story and a winner of the Onassis International Playwriting Competition and The Kennedy Center Fund for New AmericanPlaywrights.

Lovejoy track, volleyball, and fishing students recently spent their morning greeting students and reading in classrooms at Puster Elementary. Reading withtheLeopardsisafavoriteLovejoytraditionforbothbigandlittleLeopards!
Strong school attendance is correlated with higher academic performance. Additionally,averageDailyAttendance(ADA)isametricthattheStateofTexas usestodeterminefundingforpublicschools.Eachweek,thisattendancedata willbeupdatedsoourcommunityisawareofourmostrecentADA.
The Lovejoy Council of PTOs will be recognizing two special individuals from EACHofoursevenPTOorganizationswhohavegivenoutstandingservicetoour children this year. This recognition is one of the highest honors which can be bestoweduponanindividualbyourPTO.Theonlyrequirementforreceivingthis honoristhattherecipienthaspromotedstudents’well-beinganddemonstrated careforchildren.

Worlds Bound: 1082R, Robot Go Vroom Vroom, continued to exert tournament dominance and won the Tournament Championship! This is a historic accomplishment and has never been done in school history. 1082E, Carbonated Potato,hadaverystrongperformancealldayandendedasTournamentFinaliststo secure their bid to the World Championship. 1082J, Jumbo Shrimp, ended as Quarterfinalists and won the Build Award, which qualified them to the World Championship. Lastly, 1082S ended as Quarterfinalists and won the award that is one of the highest honors, the Design Award! We are #LovejoyProud of all of these teamsaccomplishmentsandcan'twaittoseewhattheydoatVEXWorldsinApril!
Strong Performers: Robotics teams go through a grueling season filled with highs and lows, and the students are all deserving of recognition. At the Regional Championship, we had very strong performances from 1082M, 1082X and 1082F, bothneartheedgeofqualifyingforVEXWorlds.1082X,Glitch,wontheJudgesAward forbeinganexemplaryteam,whichisatruecharacteristicoftheseamazingyoung adultsandatestamenttotheiroverallquality.Theyfinished10thoveralland15thin Skillsrank.1082Mended12thoveralland10thinSkillsrank.1082FendedasSemiFinalistsandfoughthardalldayfortheirsuccess.
Puttinginequaleffortandhavingastrongperformancewasalso1082G,1082H,and 1082T. These 3 teams along with 1082F are all young robotics teams but held their own and did an incredible job! In qualification rank 1082T was ranked 15th, 1082G was ranked 18th, 1082F was ranked 23rd and 1082H ended the day with a win and endedranked38th.
Volunteer Award: Additionally, we made history again as our very own, beloved Head Referee and Lovejoy Robotics parent, Mr. Schnurr, received the Volunteer of the Year Award! This has never been awarded to a Lovejoy volunteer at a nonLovejoytournamentandwearesothrilledforthishonor.Mr.Schnurristhebestin allaspectsofsupportingstudentsandourroboticsprogram.Hewillalsobereferring forthesecondyearinarowattheVEXRoboticsWorldChampionship!

The month of February has been busy for the Lovejoy Child Development Center! Muffins with Mom was also a huge hit! Moms and kids enjoyed a breakfast filled with love, laughter and muffins. We are thankful to celebrate thespecialwomeninthelivesofourpreschoolstudents.
February is National Dental Health Month and a pediatric dentist and LISD parent discussed healthy dental habits with our preschool students. We enjoyed Sprout Dentistry for Kids of McKinney and Dr. SageYoo visiting our schooltoteachourpreschoolershealthydentalhabits.

Students in Mrs. Erin McClintick’s sixth grade GT RLAclasseshavebeenworkingonPassionProjects. Passion Projects are research-based projects on a topic of student interest. Students may want to learn more about a specific country, science phenomenon, profession, or a time-period in history.Asyoucanimagine,studentswanttolearn aboutmanythings!
Students crafted research questions, conducted their research, and created presentations which included included a slideshow. Some, students even shared props or artifacts! The projectguidelinesanddifferentiatedgradingrubric,allowsstudentstoexercise voiceandchoicewhilestillmasteringtheTEKSfortheunit.
