This week, we celebrated our dedicated school marshals as part of School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. Our school marshals support and protect our students and staff with great love and care. We have six armed school marshals with one of the six, Casey Littlefield, serving as Head of Safety and Security. Our safety and security team implements a layered approach that includes physical security, emergency preparedness, and training. Case in point, I was at Lovejoy High School yesterday afternoon when our school marshals were hosting a Stop the Bleed training for our substitutes and new employees.
In Lovejoy ISD, we strategically apply a safety and security approach that prioritizes proactive mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. I see our school marshals’ commitment to proactive mitigation in the strong relationships they build with students, staff, and parents. If you would like to know more about our commitment to safety and security, please visit our District Safety and Security web-page.
I am in Cypress, Texas cheering on our wrestlers at state and will travel to Austin this afternoon to cheer on our swimmers and divers at their state meet. We are extremely proud of each of the athletes on these teams that have earned the opportunity to compete at this elite level.
Katie Kordel SuperintendentThere is only ONE LOVEJOY and we are ALL LEOPARDS!
Lovejoy ISD's School Marshal program is made possible by our communities generous contributions to the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools Safety and Security program, which directly funds a portion of their salaries. Donations can be made through the link below and designate "Safety and Security."
We are incredibly grateful for our communities commitment to safety on our campuses. Thank you!
Our Lovejoy campuses celebrated Valentine's day with HEART! We hope each Leopards' day was filled

Lovejoy ISD is proud to announce 7 students have been recognized as 2023 National Merit Finalists!
Over 1.3 million students took the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and met requirements to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program.
In the fall, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) identified the 50,000 highest scores nationwide, and recognized those students as either Semifinalists or Commended. This week 15,000 Semifinalists are notified that they have advanced to Finalist standing. These Finalists will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for about 7,500 Merit Scholarship® awards to be offered in 2023.
Congratulations, Lovejoy High School National Merit Finalists:

The men’s wrestling team won the regional championship last weekend! We had 8 Lovejoy athletes in the finals where 3 finished as runners-up and 5 won their individual regional title to contribute to the team win. They now travel to Cypress where they will compete to defend their State title this Friday and Saturday.
Also, Congratulations to Jackson Lambert for being named Most Outstanding Wrestler (106-145)!
Congratulations to the 5A Robotics State Championship Semifinalists 1082C [ Le Fishee ] and 1082R [ Robot Go Vroom Vroom ] who had an incredible day full of tough matches and a ton of work. They fought hard each and every match and worked in between their matches to fix issues as they popped up. On these teams we have some of our very best engineering students and we are so proud of all their hard work and accomplishments! These teams, along with other LHS robotics teams, will be at the Region 2 State Championship coming soon on March 4th in Southlake. We hope to see you there!

& 1082ROn Monday and Tuesday Advanced Placement (AP) Seminar student teams presented their research to an audience of parents, teachers, and peers.
In preparation of the presentation teams of students identify, investigate, and analyze an academic or real-world problem or issue of their choosing; design and/or consider options by evaluating alternatives and multiple perspectives; develop a multimedia presentation to present the argument for their proposed solution or resolution; and provide a defense to questions posed by the teacher.
This process is done in a supportive, trusting atmosphere where students are self-directed, peer reviewed, and nurtured by guidance of teachers.
Join us in congratulating our students on their powerful research and insightful proposals on these complex and important topics, including "Addressing Teacher Pay in Texas."

Every year in January the LHS Jazz Ensemble records music from the Duke Ellington Library and sends them off to be judged and to receive comments from members of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. It is a great time of year when we spend some time on the earlier days of Jazz and pay homage to the past.
The recordings turned out especially strong this year. Check em out!

On Monday, February 13th the Lovejoy Visual Arts (LJVA) department, hosted its 8th Annual LJVA Portrait Show in the LHS Gallery. The collection of work contained a broad investigation of the concepts of identity and self through the eyes and hands of students of all ages and stages of exploration in LJVA. Whether dealing with honest representation or the languages of abstraction and symbolism, the work chosen for this exhibition speaks to the ever-evolving idea of how our artists see themselves and the world around them. This carefully selected exhibition was a celebration of the diversity and personal experience found within our student body and Lovejoy community. Please join us in celebrating our students exceptional artistic talent, as well as our phenominal visual art teachers K-12!
