Lovejoy Community, Happy New Year, Leopards! We were thrilled to welcome our students back to school on Wednesday morning. I have enjoyed hearing about all of the exciting things you did over the holiday. Almost all of the students I asked about their favorite part of the break told me it was spending time with family. That was my favorite part of the break as well. My family and I spent some time in New Mexico on the ski slopes and then we had some precious time with my parents.
On Tuesday morning, we had a high energy, '80s themed mid-year staff convocation. Convocation is a time for us to come together as a team and set the tone for the semester ahead. I can tell you that we are ready to ROCK this semester and that 2023 better look out for Lovejoy ISD. I am still laughing about the staff lip sync battle. It may not have looked like it from the pictures on social media, but we also did some serious work at convocation. Our focus was on the science and power of hope. I deeply believe that as educators we hold the hope of each of our students in our hands.
There is only ONE LOVEJOY and we are ALL LEOPARDS!
Kordel SuperintendentLovejoy kicked off the new year with campus specific professional development and time travel: Back to the '80s!
This hilariously fun event was also an interactive, powerful source of inspiration focusing on the science of hope in education.
Lovejoy's 2nd Annual Midyear Lip Sync contest was a "smashing" success. Several imaginary and inflatable air guitars were sacrificed in the name of 80's rock.
While every campus gave rockin' performances, Sloan Creek dominated with incredible choreography and a passionate performance (even when the wrong music mash-up was played). The bar is set! Way to go Sloan Creek!
January is School Board Appreciation Month and we are proud to celebrate the individuals that serve on our Lovejoy ISD Board of Trustees! Barrett Owens, Amy Smith, Anne Smith, Julie McLaughlin, Jeff Wood, Marvin Bobo, and Jason Jaynes dedicate their personal time and expertise to support our district in continuing to provide an exceptional education to our Lovejoy Leopards! Please join us in thanking them for their service!

Mr. Doty is well known in Lovejoy ISD for being a wonderful math teacher and excellent musician, but he is also known for being incredibly FUN! At midyear convocation Mr. Doty dressed as, "The artist formerly known as Prince," and claimed victory to the "Best '80s Dressed" award! The competition was fierce, but he came dressed AND in character! Congrats Mr. Doty!
Thank you to all our teachers and staff who dressed up and made this convocation one to remember!
As a Board, we are committed to strong and proactive communication with our community. Part of this commitment is sending an email invitation to our community prior to Board Meetings with a sincere desire for you to be involved and fully aware, so we can come together as a community for our children.

There have been a few minor changes in regards to our boardroom setup.
Previously, all attendees entered through the main, south door of the boardroom. Due to a recent change in safety and security procedures, all Lovejoy ISD Board Meeting and/or Board Workshop attendees must enter through the main entry door of the Lovejoy Child Development Center (LCDC), which is located just west of the previous entry. Upon entrance, attendees will enter the boardroom from the LCDC lobby area. Only those seeking public comment will be required to sign in, as according to board policy.
Note: Attendees should follow the directional signage that will be posted for upcoming meetings.
In addition, the Lovejoy ISD Board Closed Session room has changed to room C113 in the Carrie L. Child Development Center. These changes will be reflected in the Board Meeting and Workshop agendas moving forward. These safety and security procedures will only enhance the quality of the Lovejoy ISD Board Meetings.
