Louis MECHAIN,

I'm Design Manager International Student in Master Degree at ESDL, Mont de Marsan, France.

Convinced that we must change our habits and adjust our way of life very quickly, designer are essentials for this transition. With 3 years in eco-conception, recycling and valorization of materials by combining design, I want to raise awareness and share my vision to better design.

Since I was a little boy, Ocean is omnipresent in my life. It is source of personal development and I evolve everyday in this environment thanks to my passion : surfing In touch with it for the beginning, I realized relatively soon of environment stakes of tomorrow.

But also the seriousness of the situation, that's why eco conception is the heart of my methodology for all my developments.

After studying a bird, his lifestyle, habits, mating, food, what he likes and what he doesn't like,...

The purpose of the project was to rethink his nest so that he could appropriate it and live there.

RESEARCH In the long list of bird species, I chose the Hawfinch. Uncommon, fierce and with an extraordinary ability to adapt by his physical alteration: he was the perfect subject.

Progressively on my sketchs, ned shape has become more simple, 4 rings like a structure have emerged. Idea of create a frame therewith he can appropriate it was born.

INSPIRATIONS In keeping with my values, Biomimicry and Biomorphism are truly inspirationnal. Take it for this subject was logic. Luigi Colani, figure in this movement, was the first and ineluctable choice too.

Essentials for our eco-system, bee are really interesting subjects, their way of life has been studied a lot of time. Inclined to disappear, it's our duty to keep them alive.

Reminder to hive and beehive shape : hexagon form was obvious and first line of my drawing. Thereafter, goal was to recreate a network.
