A stately and historic landmark in Midtown Manhattan, Lotte New York Palace has long reigned as New York City’s most iconic and instantly recognizable hotel.
Over a century ago in 1882, Henry Villard, one of the nation’s prominent financiers, commissioned McKim, Mead & White, the outstanding architectural firm to create a residence of singular style. Keeping with the times of the era, The Villard Mansion was conceived in neo-Italian Renaissance tradition, after the Palazzo della Cancellaria in Rome.
In the mid-Seventies, the Archdiocese of New York, owners of the land, cleared the way for hotel development. This enabled the famous residence to be accessible once again to lovers of art and architecture. To bridge the architectural gap between the landmark and the new hotel that would be joined to it, Emery Roth & Sons, P.C. was able to design a modern tower that integrated with its environment, as it mirrors the surrounding cityscape. When the hotel opened in 1980 as The Helmsley Palace, The Villard Mansion had been restored in preparation to be hotel public space.
In 1992 the hotel was purchased by the Sultan of Brunei and underwent a multi-million dollar restoration and refurbishment. Lotte Hotels & Resorts acquired the hotel in 2015 as the flagship property for their growing collection of hotels and resorts globally. Lotte New York Palace is an icon of style and sophistication which today ranks as the largest luxury hotel and one of the most highly rated in New York City.

A large Italian marble foyer welcomes you to the three-bedroom Imperial Suite perched on the 45th floor, high above Manhattan. The massive, residential-style suite reflects the grandeur of classic French period decor. Its Rococo rooms feature elegant furniture, small sculptures, and ornamental mirrors. The grand master bedroom is uniquely appointed with his and hers dressing rooms. Hers features an oversized soaking tub offset by silk drapes and Grecian columns; his has an antique barber chair perfect for a gentleman’s shave.
