A warm thank you to: our partners (see backflip), all artists, curators, our board members, event department Brussels, all the people working behind the scenes (coordinators, technicians, police, fire department, suppliers, security....), our amazing volunteers ... and you for enjoying the music with us.
The 7th edition of the Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend has a lot to offer for die hard jazz cats, adventurous music lovers, open minded Ketjes, wandering city trippers and all of you looking to have a great time. We present three days packed with jazz and akin great music to discover in the center of wonderful Brussels. Over 100 – mostly Belgian - artists are performing on our 3 outdoor main stages, 4 busker stages and in 32 bars. Access to all concerts is free to make sure that everybody can enjoy this amazing live music and be part of the wonderful festival vibe. The festival is curated by some of the most interesting and leading music halls in Brussels: Bozar, Flagey and Les Lundis d’Hortense were eager to help select some of the most interesting and leading artists in Contemporay Jazz for the Lotto Stage at the Grand Place. AB, Botanique and VK helped pick artists who boldly go Beyond Jazz at the OMER. Stage, at Place de la Bourse.
The next gen musicians, young talents that will define tomorrow’s jazz, can be found at the Citadines Stage, Place Saint-Cathérine. The Conservatoire Royale Bruxelles, Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and Brussels Jazz Alert joined our search for these talented gems.
The Busker Stages are four new, acoustic outdoor stages with a more informal setting, to experience the music and festival vibe up close and personal.
At night, the music goes on in 32 bars and amazing venues throughout the city. Discover all artists on our website or download the app to plan your visit and get plenty of cool extras and giveaways.
The three main outdoor stages – Lotto Stage, OMER. Stage and Citadines Stage - are all located on beautiful historical squares in the heart of Brussels, connecting Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend and today’s music with the history and soul of the city.
This stage revolves around Contemporary Jazz, a perfect match for program partners Bozar, Flagey and Les Lundis d’Hortense. Flagey selected some of the finest artists and leading voices in contemporary Belgian jazz for Friday: Vitja Pauwels, Gert Jan Dreessen Quartet, Lara Rosseel Orchestra – ARK and Dishwasher_. On Saturday Bozar makes a mark as an important and cutting-edge art center, spicing things up with MaDaBa, Manu Hermia – Orchestra della Luna, John Ghost, Next.Ape and Kolinga. The stage will be oozing with talent, combining beauty and raw emotion. On Sunday Les Lundis d’Hortense takes over the baton, presenting a very fine selection of pure uncut jazz by don Marsh V, Tom Bourgeois Rumeurs, Macondo Trio and Camille-Alban Spreng’s ODIL with Nina Kortekaas.
This stage boldly ventures beyond jazz, right up the alley of our three program partners: Le Botanique, AB and VK. They share the festival’s drive to be open-minded and curious, looking to discover new music and talented artists. The selection of Le Botanique reflects their deeply rooted curiosity, always looking for tomorrow’s music. Dushime fits that bill perfectly, as do Jean-Paul Groove , Kuna Maze and Don Kapot. The latter might even help us discover what a jazzy moshpit is. AB is an iconic concert venue with a tradition of supporting young musicians. On Saturday they invite Lefto’s Jazzcats: Moene x Soete x Bruno and Echofarmer, followed by AB-artist in residence Bombataz and The Heliocentrics, arguably the best backing band of the moment and a challenging benchmark for the Belgian bands. With a focus on music, society and their neighborhood, VK is a perfect match for the festival’s vision. With JAZMYN, Fred Gata x Joël Francis, Saudade Experiment and NNAVY they add soul, some hip-hop and pure emotions to the program.
Meet the next gen musicians! We invited our long-standing partners Conservatoire Royale Bruxelles and Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel and Brussels Jazz Alert to help pick young talented artists, ready to define tomorrow’s jazz. While we encouraged the conservatories to shamelessly invite and coach some of their top students, Brussels Jazz Alert added some very interesting projects, often raising a critical voice about our society, redefining both music and our human nature. On Sunday morning we start early with Banda Bruselas playing live for our first salsa matinee. Loosen up those hips and bring your dancing shoes. After all, there’s no better way to feel instantly happy and connect with others and the music than by dancing together in the streets.

OMER. STAGE – Place de la Bourse (VK)
Uncompromising music that you have to experience, because it is all about emotions. This is also what the term ‘saudade’ evokes. The ‘experiment’ refers to the collective, the interplay, and freedom. Everything is about experience: a concert is more than listening to music, it is breathing it in, moving into it, embracing the atmosphere, the concept, and merging into it.

In a world reigned by injustice and inequality, this band rises as a prophetic voice. Their powerful blend of jazz and electronic music creates a new sound, rooted in the tradition of the past while pushing forward –equally danceable and thoughtprovoking.
The heavy basslines, driving drums, and ethereal saxophone and trumpet invite the listener to come and dance to the music.
