The Southeast Weld County Junior Fair and Rodeo reflects an amazing community that has been supporting its kids and each other for over 100 years. The fair provides a great opportunity for our RE3J students to showcase their hard work on projects in 4-H and FFA and gives them an opportunity to market their livestock projects in the sale. In 2005, Fair Board members, Scott and Brenda Garcia, realized there were children and families in our community who were less fortunate and/or unable to take advantage of this specific opportunity. The Garcias brought to the Fair Board the idea of starting a fund to raise support and give a little help at Christmas time and throughout the year to families in our community who are less fortunate. With the Fair Board’s approval, the Garcias began organizing Santa’s Hard Luck Fund.
Santa’s Hard Luck Fund, as it was originally founded, began small but has grown each year. Since its inception, hundreds of children and their families have benefited from the generosity of this community.
At fair, the Hard Luck Fund as it is currently known, is supported by a silent auction along with the sale of a few larger items auctioned in the sale ring during the Junior Livestock Sale. Most of the fund is used to purchase gift cards at Christmas for RE3J families in need. These families are nominated by the schools. The Fair Board realizes hard times don’t just happen during the holidays, so it stands to support those in need throughout the year!
The Southeast Weld County Fair Board believes we are blessed to be a blessing. If you would like to donate to the Hard Luck Fund and serve those in our community, please stop by the High Plains Bank in Keenesburg and donate to the SEWCF Hard Luck Fund.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to our donors and buyers. We appreciate your continued support!
By Duane Neese Jr. Fair Board President
Please join us to celebrate our 103rd year! When I say ours, I genuinely mean it; it belongs to all of us. Everyone who donates, volunteers, participates and cheers these kids on is part of what makes this fair one of the year’s most meaningful events. It is a privilege to carry on this legacy. As a proud Fair Board member and current President, I cannot express enough what an honor it is to serve alongside such dedicated individuals, follow in the footsteps of those who came before us, and help guide this incredible tradition into the future.
As the only independently operated 100% communityfunded county fair in the state and perhaps the nation, the Southeast Weld County Fair is a unique testament to what a passionate, dedicated community can achieve. The fair thrives thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers, sponsors, businesses and families who believe deeply in supporting agriculture and youth involvement. With the theme “103 in the Land of the Free,” this event honors more than a century of rural tradition, youth development and unparalleled community support. Your contributions have made this possible; we could not be prouder of what we have achieved together.
Held annually, the fair is more than just a showcase of livestock and local talent, it is a testament to a vision planted over a century ago by forward-thinking founders who understood the importance of investing in youth and agriculture. What began as a small local gathering has evolved into a cornerstone event that continues to flourish thanks to the community’s support.
At its core, the Fair is about our youth and teaching them to leave excuses at the door and learn what it means to care for something beyond themselves. Participating in the fair allows for invaluable lessons in discipline, dedication and personal growth from livestock to general projects. Young exhibitors are encouraged to push themselves, take ownership, showcase their skills and be creative. Your support is crucial in shaping these young minds and fostering their growth.
One of the most anticipated events of the Fair is the annual Jr. Market Livestock Auction. It is not just a sale; it is a celebration of their dedication and a tangible reward for the months of early mornings and late nights and learning the ups and downs of agricultural life. Also, our general project add-on recognizes and supports our non-livestock exhibitors who have excelled in creativity in woodworking, sewing, cake decorating, mechanics, crops and many other projects.
Founded as the Keenesburg Fair Association, today’s Southeast Weld County Jr. Fair and Rodeo continues to be a gathering place for generations of families, where old friends reunite and new traditions and new friendships begin. So, please join us at the Southeast Weld County Fair as the fairgrounds always buzz with excitement and energy.
We look forward to seeing you this year. Whether it is the livestock shows that spark your interest, Junior Livestock Sale that brings out your generosity, or you are looking to support your favorite cake decorator, there is something for everyone. Watch the action-packed rodeo and events where our youth compete for that shiny new buckle or bring your appetite to enjoy the oh so delicious annual BBQ. We will also have outside food vendors to satisfy all your cravings. Maybe you are shopping for a new pair of jeans, a unique knick-knack, or that skid steer or tractor you have had your eye on. Or perhaps you want to spend quality time with family and friends, at the annual parade, the Southeast Weld County Fair has you covered.
Whatever brings you out, we invite you to stop by and say hi. We cannot wait to see you and share this wonderful experience. Your presence will make this event even more special. So, mark your calendars, invite your friends and family and let’s make the 103rd Southeast Weld County Fair a memorable one!
The SEWC Royalty are ambassadors of goodwill for the community and youth of the Southeast Weld area. Their purpose is to promote the Southeast Weld County Fair & Rodeo (SEWCF).

CONTESTANTS
Hello, my name is Audrey Koehn and I am your 2025 Southeast Weld County Fair and Rodeo Queen! I am 17 years old and am a junior at Weld Central High School. I’m from the Hudson area and I enjoy the many traditions that my small town offers. I have grown up going to this fair every year and have very fond memories of this place. I now participate in this fair, showing horses and making leather craft projects. I love to ride my horses, especially when I team rope in the heelers position. I’m an officer of FFA and on the horse judging team. This year I placed gold at state as well as my freshman year. I am secretary for Keene 4-H Boosters and I enjoy participating in fundraisers and community projects with my 4-H group. After graduating from Weld Central, I plan on going to college in Texas to become a nurse just like my mom. I want to rodeo professionally as well. I am so blessed to be your 2024-2025 royalty. I thank God everyday for the opportunities I get to be an ambassador for our lovely small town. Good luck to the 2025 Southeast Weld County Fair and Rodeo participants! God bless you.
Hi, my name is Anastyn Perez and I am honored to serve as the SEWC Fair and Rodeo Lady-in-Waiting! I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity to represent both my fair and the amazing community that surrounds it. I’m a student at Weld Central High School and just completed my sophomore year. Through 4-H, I show horses, goats, and pigs. I’m also involved in horse judging with Weld County. In addition, I’m deeply engaged in FFA, where I serve as an officer and actively compete in events. Outside of school and fair activities, I love barrel racing and spending quality time with my horses. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of representing our fair at the National Western Stock Show, Meet and Greets, and several parades as Lady-in-Waiting. I’ve met so many wonderful people and have gained incredible new experiences along the way. I’m beyond grateful for the unwavering support from my family—especially my mom, sister, and stepdad— as well as my friends and the community members. I’m so excited for my upcoming year as Queen and can’t wait for all the memories still to come!
Boyd and Helen Arnold have been named the Grand Marshals of the 2025 Southeast Weld County Fair and Rodeo—a recognition that celebrates not only their deep roots in the community but also a lifetime of dedication to agriculture, service and family tradition.
“We’re incredibly honored to be selected,” they shared. “We couldn’t ask for a better community to raise our children and now watch our grandchildren grow up in.”
Boyd Arnold is a proud Keenesburg native, following in the footsteps of two generations before him who farmed and ranched in the area. His father, Daryl Arnold, served on the Southeast Weld County Fair Board for many years—alongside several uncles and cousins—making it a true family affair.
Boyd recalls youthful summers spent working the fairgrounds with his brother Dwight while their father tended the farm. The reward? A coveted spot in the wild cow milking contest—a rite of passage for many local kids back then. At just 20 years old, after years of pitching in behind the scenes, Boyd found himself unexpectedly voted onto the Southeast Weld County Fair Board when Daryl decided to retire. And so began a 43year journey of service.
Fate stepped in at a fair dance at the Adams County Fairgrounds, where Boyd met Helen Frost. One of their early “dates” took place at the Southeast Weld County Fair rodeo. Boyd left Helen in the grandstands to work the chutes and push calves for roping events. When the night ended and Helen was still there—with a smile rather than a grumble—Boyd knew he’d found someone special. They’ve now been married 43 years.
Together, Boyd and Helen have dedicated their lives to the Fair, the land and each other. Helen stood beside Boyd for the 43 years he was on the Fair Board, bringing not only support
but hands-on help. Their children were raised with the fair in their blood—though not always enthusiastically. Boyd chuckles recalling the kids complaining that their friends were at the lake while they were spending time working at the fairgrounds.
In 2006, the fairgrounds relocated and Boyd and Helen were instrumental in the massive volunteer effort to make it happen. They donated their time, equipment and even employees from their business, Arnold’s Custom Seeding, to help with the transition. Many of the old fairground’s structures live on today: the roof of the pig, sheep and goat barn once covered the old main building; the cattle barn roof came from the old rodeo bleachers; and even the rabbit and chicken hutches made the move. Over three years, they and other dedicated Fair Board families hosted countless bingo nights to raise funds for the new panels in the pig, sheep and goat barn.
After marrying, Boyd and Helen began farming together, later expanding into reclamation work with Arnold’s Custom Seeding, a successful business they eventually sold to the Huwa family. Boyd also planted what some affectionately call a “forest” of trees around Keenesburg, donating many to the town of Keenesburg. In recognition of their environmental stewardship, the couple was named Conservationists of the Year in 2012.
For over 25 years, the Arnolds have also been active in the Wray, Colorado area—farming, ranching and staying closely involved with the Yuma County Cattlemen’s Association. Boyd and Helen are well-known for their willingness to lend a hand, whether it’s helping a neighbor or stepping in where extra work needs doing. They have long supported the Weld Central FFA Chapter and were also active in school and community groups, with Helen serving on the Keenesburg Elementary PTO for several years.
Even after their “retirement” from the Fair Board in 2023, Boyd and Helen remain fixtures behind the scenes, continuing to support the fair and rodeo they love so dearly. Their sons, Andy and Tim, now serve on the Fair Board, proudly continuing the Arnold family tradition.
Today, Boyd and Helen’s legacy lives on through their children and grandchildren, all of whom reside in the Keenesburg area and remain deeply involved in the community. Erin and Rowdy Bydalek, with their children Blaine and Brylee; Andy and Brecken Arnold, with children Peyton and Alec; and Tim and Michaela Arnold are all raising the next generation of 4-H participants and Southeast Weld County Fair exhibitors.
For the Arnolds, the Southeast Weld County Fair and Rodeo is more than an annual event—it’s a way of life. It’s where roots run deep, hard work is honored and neighbors become family.
