Internally, we are aligning our Mission to our Hospital Partners by “Making it Personal” and striving to…

Dear Trusted Partner,

For more than forty years, Lori’s has provided value to our Hospital Partners through a curated assortment of gifts, fashion, and consumable products.

Working through the pandemic, we have realized that where we can best serve our hospital partners is… …as a trusted place for joy and support when others need it most.

We are first and foremost about people… the people we serve, the people we employ, and more importantly, the people we help take care of. Today, thanks to the passion and dedication of our team members across the country, we stand committed to fulfilling that vision in 2024 and beyond!

…provide empathy through personal connections, while offering convenient products and services to nurture, inspire, and comfort.

Combined, we will use these two tenants to guide us forward and further evolve our role in supporting the thousands of health care workers, patients, and visitors we see every week in our stores.

Over the next thirty days, our field leadership team will be reaching out to all of our Hospital Partners to schedule year-end reviews so that we can hear directly from you on what we are doing well and also what you feel that we can do better to deliver against our mission.

Please help us achieve our mission by sharing your feedback and insight.

OUR LORI’ S 2023 ‘ MAKE YO U R M ARK ’ AWARD WINNERS

At the 2023 “Make Your Mark” Leadership Summit in February, Lori’s executives and team leaders met to review, plan, discuss best practices, and construct new initiatives aimed at “Making the Magic Happen” for Lori’s Guests, Partners, and Team Members. The Make Your Mark Award was one of the initiatives unveiled at the conference, and has been received with overwhelming enthusiasm.

The award is given each month to a deserving Lori’s employee for going above and beyond to take care of Guests. Team Members receive recognition in the newsletter and on social

media, they receive the personalized Glass Heart Award statue, plus 2 extra PTO days, a local hotel stay, dinner, movie tickets and more. Winners have been surprised with a visit from Lori’s leaders, who have personally delivered the awards and prizes.

“Our winners exemplify who we want to be as a company, in their ability to leave lasting impressions on everyone they meet.”

She is the ideal employee to have at a hospital gift shop. She is organized, dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate.”

Linda’s peers and District Manager have so many good things to say, such as: “Linda naturally interacts with the children and their parents, putting everyone at ease. They can forget their troubles while in her store.”

THE ‘ LORI’ S LOVE’ P RO G R A M : TOUCHING HEARTS AND LIVES

An exciting initiative that was unveiled during the annual Leadership Summit is “Lori’s Love.” Our team members care so much about their guests, it wasn’t uncommon to hear about them reaching into their own pockets when the opportunity to help someone in need arose. Making those personal connections is at the heart of Lori’s, but in order to ensure employees don’t spend their own money, we created a new monthly process to enable our store teams to help those in need through Lori’s Love. Lori’s Love is the process of performing small acts of kindness with the intention of making the hospitals we serve a better place! To date, we have donated more than $20,000. A small selection of excerpts from those stories can be found below.

EXCERPTS

“A caseworker told us of a terminally ill patient whose last wish was to marry his fiancé’ at the hospital. Our Store Manager quickly made bouquets in the bride’s colors, and cut roses for boutonnieres for the groomsmen. The couple was united. When the caseworker returned to pay, she learned that Lori’s Love had covered the cost. She thanked us for our generosity and compassion, and the couple was grateful their wish came true so beautifully.”

Store 649, Savannah, GA

“A team member doggedly tracked down a discontinued doll for an autistic child, creating a special gift basket for her. She used Lori’s Love to take care of the purchase entirely. Mother and daughter were so overwhelmed with joy that everyone was emotional. This act of kindness made a lifelong impres-sion on the family. Thanks for being a world class retailer that puts the Love of others above profits!”

LORI’S LOVE STORIES

“A visitor confided that he and his wife had just lost a loved one. Our team member helped him find an inspirational gift and put together a beautiful flower bouquet. We took care of the transaction with Lori’s Love. He was over-come with emotion and thanked us. As he was leaving, he put his hands over his heart, thanking us again.”

Store 432, Wichita,

“When a selfless guest chose a gift for her friend over a snack for herself, Lori’s covered both purchases. There were hugs and many thank yous! For less than $10, we were able to make the day of 2 women! And for that I am grateful that I work with a company that allows us these amazing moments!” Store

READ STORIES OF LORI’S LOVE IN ACTION

“A regular visitor received sad news about loved one’s prognosis, and came to the shop in shock. She processed the news as she shopped, finally ready to return to the hospital room. We purchased roses for her to cheer him up. She visited each day the next week for what she called a lift in her spirits.”

Store 371, Sugarland, TX Houston Methodist Sugarland

“Our hospital Chaplain works hard to keep spirits up with notes and gifts for workers. I told him about Lori’s Love and his sentiment was the same as mine – how lucky we are to work for a company with this amazing program! That day we gifted him a $50 Lori’s Gift Card to continue his mission of recognizing our hospital heroes.”

“A gentleman came in whose wife who was in an induced coma. He didn’t know if she could hear him or feel his hand, so he found a plush hippo to keep her company while he had to work. Unfortunately, his credit card would not go through. As he was sorting through his wallet. I told him to put away his money because Loris Gifts would like to do something special since he is going through such a hard time. He had tears in his eyes and asked if I was sure. As he walked out, he thanked me again.”

Store 485, Maywood, IL

Loyola U. Medical Center

“A patient who had been Careflighted in was alone in the hospital without family or friends. Her nurses bought her flowers, puzzle books, snacks and hygiene products. Seeing their generosity and care, I convinced them to let us contribute as well, and used our Lori’s Love to buy her some going home clothes!”

Store 535,

Store 15, Fort Worth, TX Medical City Fort Worth

“A mother rushed her daughter to the hospital, and spent the night with her. When she discovered her phone died, and she lost contact with loved ones, she came into the gift shop to buy a phone charger. It was then she realized she didn’t have her wallet. Our Store Manager gave her a phone charger and told her she was the recipient of Lori’s Love. The Mother was so thankful for Tina’s kindness she gave her a hug. Later she came to report her daughter was doing well, and gave thanks and hugs again.”

Store 495, Norfolk, VA

Sentara Leigh Hospital

“A patient we love underwent chemo and radiation. She remained positive, often entering the shop sporting a new wig (she has 30!). We would pretend she was a new sister from the same family to make her laugh. She finally got to ring the bell at the end of her treatment, so we used Lori’s Love to present her with a Celebration Gift.”

HOSPITAL PARTNERSHIPS THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE

Neonatal Ambulance

Lori’s Gifts partnered with the Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary to raise funds for a new neonatal transport ambulance. Lori’s “Round Up at at the Register” program was deployed at Store 397, and helped raise nearly $1500 in change in just a few months. All funds raised will support the Auxiliary’s efforts

to earn the $125,000 to purchase the Miracle 2 neonatal ambulance.

Auxiliary Recognition

Lori’s Gifts was honored Sept. 21 at the 69th Annual Auxiliary dinner at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Lori’s team members received gratitude for their support of the Auxiliary, for the gift shop’s excellence, and for making every guest feel warmly welcomed.

Lori’s team members provided fun gift bags for guests filled with a variety of useful items and tasty treats from the gift shop. Volunteer Services Senior Manager Eileen Hansen thanked Lori’s team leaders. Lori’s will also be partnering with the Auxiliary on a new volunteer program that provides real-world, paid job experience to people with disabilities. The hospital will cover workers’ salaries, and Lori’s Gifts will provide training in stocking, pricing, and greeting and assisting guests.

Fashion Show Fundraiser

The Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary hosted its Looking Forward Fashion Show on June 5. In addition to being an event sponsor, Lori’s was represented by several team members from area gift shops who attended the fundraiser. Over $25,000 was raised in support of the Looking Forward Program, which directly funds services that help cancer patients cope with the many issues related to their treatment.

Lori’s is Ready to Partner With You

PARTNERING TO ADVANCE THE FIGHT FOR LIFE

We Proudly Support Susan G. Komen

Every year, through our strategic BCA campaign, Lori’s raises awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer. In 2022, Lori’s donated over $40,000 to Susan G. Komen. We set out to surpass that amount in 2023 with a new goal of $50,000. Did we make it? Read on to find out. First, we prepared our retail game plan:

2022

On Saturday 10/21, staff from our home office and their families were proud to be a part of the Susan G. Komen North Texas More Than Pink Walk, a remarkable event that brings together communities, survivors, and advocates in the fight against breast cancer. The Walk funds education efforts, continued research, and support programs that offer tangible assistance to those affected by breast cancer.

2023

In every Lori’s Gift Shop, we featured beautiful pink displays spotlighting high-quality BCA products guests could purchase to show their support for the cause in style, or gift to friends, co-workers and relatives. In addition, Lori’s donated 20% of the sales of all Breast Cancer Awareness products to Susan G. Komen, the Dallas-based charity that directs funds towards breast cancer research, screening, treatment, and education. Next, we deployed our second fundraising plan:

We at Lori’s Gifts are proud to announce that thanks to the tremendous efforts of our team members, and the generosity of our guests, partners and donors, our Breast Cancer Awareness contribution nearly doubled that of last year. Between product sale profit sharing and donations, we raised over $76,000 in the fight against breast cancer.
