Volume 23 - 7 August, 2012 Dear Parents and Students It is with a certain sense of accomplishment we “launch” Loreto’s new Teaching and Learning Framework. In developing this framework we desired that it be one that was life‐giving, enriching, challenging and transforming for both teachers and students alike. Our inten on thus, has been to develop a framework to promote a culture of educa onal excellence being mindful that we do so in the context of a school defined by the impera ves and of the Gospel and the Loreto Mission Statement for Schools. The Loreto Framework © thus contains four key aspects:
Habits of Mind (Art Costa)
Disposi ons of the Heart ( Loreto Mission Statement)
Learner and Teacher A ributes (Loreto Vision Statement)
Enduring Pursuits (Gospel impera ves)
It can perhaps be best understood using a pyramid net. This “pyramid” represents the framework that will guide and assist us in our teaching and learning, planning, programing, pedagogical choices, assessment and delivery.
© Loreto Coorparoo 2012 The three key dimensions that form the important founda on of our teaching and learning framework are The Habits of Mind, our Disposi ons of the Heart and Teacher and Learner A ributes. Both the Habits of Mind and our Disposi ons of the Heart are cri cal means by which we seek to develop, nurture and encourage in each other our desired Learner and Teacher A ributes. This three‐fold founda on enables us to educate for greater wisdom through an emphasis across the en re curriculum on the life‐long importance of the Gospel impera ves we have ar culated as the Enduring Pursuits.
