Volume 27 - 2 September, 2014 Dear Parents and Students “There is something like a line of gold thread running through a man’s words when he talks of his daughter; And, gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick it up in your hands and weave into a cloth that is love itself.” John Gregory Brown
We extend to all Fathers our prayers and thanks for all you do to provide for, guide, support, protect and nurture us your children with love, faith and ever-hopeful hearts. We give thanks for your presence in our lives and for both the strength and the gentleness you show. Happy Father’s Day to all our Dads for Sunday. We look forward to many Loreto Dads joining their daughters for the annual P&F Father’s Day Breakfast which will be held by the Pool on Friday, commencing at 7.00am. (www.trybooking.com/didf). There is a “Gold Coin” donation with all proceeds going to Mary Ward International, an organisation supporting Loreto Missions around the world. SPRING LUNCHEON – ALL INVITED Ticket sales for the annual Loreto Spring Luncheon close this Friday. With the promise of such a wonderful guest speaker in Helen McCabe, we’ve outgrown our normal room at the Convention Centre and have moved to another, to accommodate all our guests. This event is a wonderful way to meet and get to know a wide variety of people from our community; current and past parents and their daughters, our ibvm Sisters, Past Pupils and Staff. Be sure not to miss out. www.trybooking.com/dbmc QCS – QUEENSLAND CORE SKILLS TEST Today and tomorrow our Year 12’s will be sitting for the Queensland Core Skills test. I am pleased to say that the seniors have prepared very well and they have committed to themselves and to each other that they will sit these exams with positive and purposeful energy. We wish them every success. May they be calm, confident and persistent in their application and effort. Being positive is the key; as in the words of Henry Ford “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” I offer my special thanks to Ms Diamond, Mr Elsworthy and the teachers who have supported and guided the girls in preparation for today.
