ENGLAND

On 13th September we took the opportunity to attend the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ freedom of speech parade to share the gospel. While this was a very different outreach opportunity to how we are normally engage, it was a really encouraging time. We put together a tract for the occasion simply asking the question “What would it take to unite the Kingdom?” which presented Christ as the only basis upon which there can be true unity – and the ultimate reunification which we need with God.

London

We were thankful for the help of two other believers. Stationed around the end of the parade route (Westminster station, Big Ben and Parliament Square), we started giving out tracts at midday as the first marchers were beginning to arrive in the area. At this time, many were happy to stop and ask what the tract was about, before then accepting it. We were pleasantly surprised that most people acknowledged that they needed to really understand more about the message of the Bible. Some men stood and read the tract beside us. A few said that they weren’t Christians, but agreed with everything that they had read, and then pocketed the tracts for later. Very few tracts were noticeably discarded. As the march got busier, we didn’t have the chance to interact with people and Joe preached the gospel in the middle of the road among the marchers. Some encouraged him to keep going: “this is what we need to hear mate”.

We were surprised by the receptiveness of the crowd: there seemed to be a recognition by many that they needed to know more about the Bible and were just ‘cultural Christians’. As Joe was preaching, three people gave out over 1,000 tracts in less than two hours. We pray that there will be fruit from this effort and further contact with those who received the tracts containing our contact details.

On the streets we continue to find people willing to listen to the gospel. One new Bible study started on 19th September and the man involved has now also come along to the All-Age Service and Lord’s Supper. He then asked to come along to a ministry meeting that Joe was taking, as he wanted to hear more following his initial Bible study. Please do pray for this man, Kris, as he seems genuinely interested in the gospel and hungry to know more. May he know the Lord’s salvation.

UGANDA

John 5-6

I am very excited to say that God is working in the lives of the believers here in the Musoto assembly and in Uganda at large, as we continue to preach and teach the truth of the New Testament scripture. Despite the fact of all the challenges and hardships, the gospel continues to be preached in Uganda.

As you may know, the gospel in Uganda and Africa in general, has been damaged by the prosperity gospel so we have a lot to do here in preaching the gospel of truth, but we thank God for what He is doing. We appreciate so much the prayers and support you render to us and the church in Uganda.

We have a total of seven assemblies which I travel to, trying to help teach the truth of the New Testament church. We are so excited to say that God is changing many lives, and we are training young men so that they may go and preach in different areas.

‘And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news’ Romans 10:15.

SCOTLAND Edinburgh

Since our last report in May 2025, we have once again been amazed by the grace and support the Lord has provided through His people.

Recent activities

Summer started with three weeks of camps in July (Shetland and Tayside Christian Youth Camp Seniors and Juniors). What a joy it was to have 60–80 young people at each camp hearing God’s Word three or four times a day! We’ve been encouraged to hear of several young believers taking the step of baptism since the camps ended.

In August, we joined the assembly at Lossiemouth for a holiday children’s week. Around 25 boys and girls attended each morning, with a good number of parents and relatives coming along on the final morning for a special prize-giving. This was especially encouraging as the assembly there has not had a children’s work for some time. As a result of the week, they have been able to commence a weekly Bible Club.

After this, together with Stephen Grant, we organised the distribution of John 3:16 bags at the Edinburgh International Festival. We had a great team, mostly compromised of young believers, and as a result were able to distribute almost 30,000 bags with the scripture text and a copy of John’s Gospel.

Planned activities and points for prayer

Looking ahead, I am scheduled to visit the assembly in Bury St Edmunds in September for an outreach week on the theme ‘Life’s Big Questions’. We also continue with regular local works, including open-air preaching in Edinburgh city centre, door-to-door evangelism and Bible studies with contacts both in-person and online.

Please pray that the Lord would use these outreaches for His glory. We look to the Lord, trusting that He will bless the seed already sown and that our planned activities will result in further fruit in the Gospel, the upbuilding of the saints and glory to our Lord.

During July, brother Malcolm Radcliffe and I shared a gospel series in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. We had quite a bit of help with tract and invitation distribution, as well as open-air work, during the first week. A good number of local folks came as a result of receiving invitations or having met those involved in the street. The first Friday night we had 22 locals along and indeed several neighbours attended right until the conclusion of the meetings.

A number of believers from the area, whom we had never met before, attended every night and not only seemed to really enjoy hearing the gospel, but also encouraged others to come along. It was clear that some others who showed an interest were not saved.

I should mention that at the same time Nathan Agnew shared gospel meetings in Dungarvan with Craig MacKie, who had come over from Scotland to help. These meetings also saw a few locals present each night, including a man who had attended meetings in Fermoy the previous year. We just do not know the potential of this seed sown.

Last night Brother Stanley Davison and I returned for a further gospel meeting in the Clonmel venue and were pleased to have 15 local folks along again, including a few who had not attended the initial series, and others who had clearly been searching. During the day we had open-airs, when Stanley and Jonathan Redpath preached. At one of these open-airs, a young man, when handed a tract, told us he had attended the meetings in July and wanted to know how a person could know they were saved. As I talked with him it became clear that the man was not a believer, but very willingly listened as we opened the scriptures once more and showed him the way of Salvation. Pray for him, and indeed all those who heard or attended the meeting. There seems to be an ear for the gospel, but we look to the Lord for direction and wisdom as we consider returning as He would open the door.

During August, brother David McAlister and I had a gospel series in Father Mathew Street Gospel Hall, Cork City, and many helped to cover much of the city with invitations and literature. A number of local people attended every night, some very well, and we are glad of those who have since attended the regular Sunday Gospel meeting in Cork. Do pray for all the people of the city who have received literature.

As schools recommence, we have days planned for the Bible Exhibition over the coming months, both in Primary and Secondary schools. We are privileged to visit most of these schools annually/biannually. Pray that as the children are presented with the gospel it might be done wisely, that this door of opportunity would continue to be open to us, and that the seed sown would bear fruit for His glory.

We have been able to agree a contract for the display of scripture on bus shelter ends across Northern Ireland for the next year. Also, in the next few weeks we plan to put texts on the sides of buses across the North, and on the rears of buses in cities in the South of Ireland. We are encouraged that we continue to receive Bible requests from texts where the contract has expired by many months! God is able.

ANGOLA Camundambala

The Angolan Literature Fund (ALF) has been contributing greatly to the spread of the Gospel in Angola since 1998 and despite the challenging political and economic environment in Angola today the work goes on.

Literature that the fund has been able to purchase includes Bibles in various languages, Chokwe, Luvale and Umbundu, and primarily in the national language Portuguese. ALF is the main importer of bibles into Angola, and has been over several years, and it is amazing to see that the need for Portuguese bibles is consistently increasing. Angola has a very young population and there are tremendous opportunities to reach many souls with the Word of God.

Besides providing Bibles, the ALF has been providing 50,000 wall calendars each year, in 5 languages, Songo, Luvale, Umbundu, Chokwe and Portuguese. Together with thousands of tracts in the Portuguese language. Recently 10 new tracts have been produced in the Chokwe language, all colourful and relevant, and will be an additional useful resource for evangelism in Chokweland.

We are thankful for a keen young man from the local assembly at Camundambala, Claudio Mafefe, who is incredibly diligent in the translation work. Translating from Portuguese into his mother tongue, Chokwe. It is amazing that despite gospel work ongoing in Chokweland for many years, there has been a scarcity of material that can be used in evangelism in the Chokwe language. This year alone Claudio has translated five different Emmaus bible courses, twelve tracts, and two small books.

The Literature Fund also has been able to supply, due to the generosity of the Lord’s people, commentaries, study books and helpful booklets to aid believers in the study of their bibles, enabling them to read sound biblically based literature. Most of this literature comes from Brazil, as do the Portuguese Bibles. This creates an added expense as literature has to come from Brazil to the UK and then sent to Angola via container. This doubles the cost of transportation, but it has proved to be the only way. Previously,

Claudio Mafefe from Camundambala who translates Chokwe literature into Portuguese
Container being unloaded at Camundambala

part loads were sent direct from Brazil to Angola in an attempt to halve the transport costs, but it has proved to be difficult due to the confusion in the port of Luanda when a container arrives with a shared cargo, resulting in literature being stolen or damaged by rain in poor warehouses. Direct shipment to Angola from Brazil can only be achieved by purchasing sufficient bibles to fill a container.

One of the key aims of ALF is to provide literature at cost price for the people, thus creating a rotating fund enabling ALF to buy more bibles. Unfortunately, due to the high transportation costs this is proving to be difficult, and many bibles, Portuguese or Chokwe, are being sold at subsidised prices below the actual cost price because the average person just cannot afford it. The Literature Fund is thankful for the support of the Trinitarian Bible Society who grant freely many thousands of bibles and New Testaments, and these are welcomed by the many folks who literally do not have the money to buy a bible.

Another aspect of the work is printing. Saurimo has an established small print facility where Emmaus courses and other small items can be printed by using high speed copiers. Paper and ink for this work are supplied from the UK and the facility is run by a local Angolan brother, Jacob Alfredo who is very efficient and works closely with Brian Howden on a day-to-day basis. The Fund has recently completed the purchase of a new booklet maker and collator for the facility in Saurimo, and it is expected to be shipped during October this year.

The Literature Fund are thankful for Justin and Joanne Ramsey who receive and store literature (and much more) on their farm in Essex and then load the containers to send to Angola. This is a tremendous contribution to the Lord’s work, for which the trustees give thanks to the Lord.

Prayer would be appreciated for the various aspects of the work of the ALF, especially for the provision of bibles and logistics and customs clearance of containers in Angola.

ZAMBIA

In April it was good to be at a little celebration of our sister Marion Ronald’s 60 years in Zambia. She came to Loloma the year after independence in 1964 and God has kept her and blessed her service all these years. Even now she still goes up to the hospital regularly to speak to the patients about the Lord and has been producing gospel tracts in Lunda.

Chitokoloki

In July, Sakeji School celebrated its 100th anniversary after it was started in a remote corner of Zambia, initially to educate missionary’s children, then to include the local people. The school was a wonderful blessing to us over the years as all our boys went there and got a solid grounding in the scripture as well as a top-class education. Our brother Gordon Hanna was instrumental in ensuring the continuance of the school and its improvements over the past 20 years. We thank the Lord for his faithful care for Sakeji School and for the many missionaries who have served there over the years.

Our sister Rhoda Sakuwaha does wonderful personal work around the wards. Recently a man was transferred to us by ambulance, a journey of 4-5 hours, and had major emergency surgery at night. He was very ill for several days and Rhoda told him about the Lord and he professed salvation. This month another man came to us almost dead from diabetic ketoacidosis. Our sister Rebekah Heelham worked night and day to keep him alive. It took two weeks to get him back to normality and since then he too has trusted the Lord after Rhoda spoke with him.

The medical work continues unrelenting. In the first half of 2025 we have already carried out 1,004 surgical procedures, 327 major surgery and 677 minor.

Sometimes I describe very seriously ill patients who make an amazing recovery, thanks to the goodness of the Lord, as minor miracles. In the case of Justin, I would almost use the term major miracle. This young man came to us following an accident and had an emergency operation to remove his ruptured spleen. Two days later he suffered at least three episodes of cardiac arrest and he was kept alive by cardiopulmonary resuscitation. As his lungs were very damaged, he was put on a ventilator and required 24-hour care. Our missionary nurses provided this care night

Marion Ronald, 60 years in Zambia

and day. The days passed into weeks and Justin overcame one crisis after another. A major worry was when the power supply went down unexpectedly at night, and he had to be switched to cylinder oxygen in the dark and had to be ventilated by hand as the machine was off.

Eventually after three weeks we were able to allow him to breathe for himself. He is now doing well and can walk around. I mentioned this dear man for prayer at the Harvest Fields prayer meeting, and we thank God for answered prayer. The picture shows Justin (on the right) enjoying a game of checkers with Mallon. Mallon has sustained serious spinal injuries and has no movement in his legs. His special wheelchair has made life a little easier for him, but he is very incapacitated.

We have many things to thank God for. The gospel goes forth every Sunday morning at the assembly and is relayed to the hospital. Usually there is an open air in the village. Brother Shawn often has an English-speaking gospel meeting on Sunday evening. The hospital staff hear the gospel every Tuesday and Thursday morning. We have three hymns, a short message and a prayer before we start the day. Often, over 20 of the student nurses will meet with us and listen to the gospel. The gospel is shared over the hospital intercom and some of the male nurses preach on the wards. Dr Ros Jefferson has a little meeting for the children on the paediatric ward every Tuesday and the children love to listen and memorise the verses. Of course, the mothers also listen too. As we do the ward rounds it is usual to see patients reading from bibles and tracts.

We treat many eye patients, and one man who had his cataracts treated was delighted to show me how he could read the words of the Lord Jesus ‘I am the way the truth and the life’. Brother Joey Speichenger recently provided a lady with glaucoma, who has been blind for 30 years, with a little solar powered electronic bible and now she is able to listen to the word of God. She and her helper were very thrilled!

ZAMBIA Chitokoloki

The past year has been very difficult with all the disruption from the building work and also emotionally taxing with the homecall of my mother along with that of four workers here, who were also close friends. I spoke at all these funerals and I experienced what I think was an accumulation of stress related issues. Brother Boston died suddenly in December, and his funeral was rather traumatic as his family accused his wife of witchcraft and causing his death. The crowds besieged the church trapping his wife and children inside, along with Lorraine who was trying to comfort them. The police came and dispersed the crowd with tear gas, but both Lorraine and I got a good dose of it, and it was not pleasant.

When you add these events to the constant daily workload at the hospital, with frequent battles for patients’ lives and often many losses of life, we are thankful that God has given us the necessary strength, both physical and emotional, to continue to provide a reasonable medical service and allow our patients to hear the gospel.

We have a great need for a hospital administrator. Our brother Gordon Hanna has borne the brunt of the administrative work now for many years and in the past few years brother Boston had been a good help to him. With Boston’s death the load has again fallen on Gordon. Pray that the Lord might raise up someone with the abilities to fill this role. Even someone in retirement could be of great service.

New clinic

Our new clinic is proving a blessing to us and our patients, after about 20 years of seeing multitudes of patients in one small room with several doctors and nurses all at the same time! We hope very soon to open our new wards as we are still awaiting nurses to run them. In the meantime, we have many patients lying in the corridors. Most days we would have well over 100 inpatients to be attended to in the hospital wards before seeing to the outpatients or the operative cases in theatre.

Patients lying in the corridors

This is Paulo arriving at theatre in style by car for his major brain surgery last month. He had a big cyst full of fluid in his brain. Dr Jonathan Hannay, visiting from the UK, did the operation via a video link with a neurosurgical friend of Dr Ros in Oxford. He is doing well post op but would benefit from continued prayer.

On 3rd August there was an early start to the day with a baptism at 8:30am. Two young sisters were baptised and came into fellowship. Brother Chris Brundage preached the gospel in the hall and we were able to listen to the message on the hospital intercom as we did the ward round.

The goodness of God was manifest in many ways throughout a recent orthopaedic visit. The orthopaedic team saw 120 patients from Angola, DR Congo and all over Zambia. The picture shows Lorraine running the clinic which went on until 9:30pm. Lorraine also had an early start that day as she was needed at a 5am emergency section. We have had an epidemic of broken bones, and I saw little hope of getting even a fraction of the cases done. We also had almost no blood, then somehow the laboratory technician got five units of blood from somewhere the day before surgery started. Then it transpired that the plane could not come back for the surgeon until Sunday morning, which meant that he had two full days operating. The surgeon also brought a very experienced assistant which meant we were able to run two theatres non-stop both days. We finished about 9pm on the first day and then midnight on Saturday, operating on 26 patients. We thank God for all these developments! As many of the patients will have several weeks in bed, they will have many opportunities to hear the gospel day by day.

ITALY Naples

We do so thank the Lord for His amazing grace and steadfast love towards us as a family and gladly share with you some news for praise and prayer.

Over the summer we have all been involved in different camps. Joy went along to the adolescent camp where Stefano was preaching. Although she happily goes along to camps, and is very willing to help in practical ways, she still is yet to trust in the Lord for salvation. This is a picture of the 80 bookmarks she made by hand.

Joseph and his wife Adriana helped in the family camp that we organise together with another family. The camp went well, and I preached on the book of Philippians. We really do see increasingly the value of this camp as we are able to help many Christian families who struggle with the stress of modern life and how to raise a family in a post Christian world.

Josiah again preached at the young people’s camp on the book of Joshua. From all accounts, the Lord really worked in the hearts of many, with some of them coming to repentance and faith and others rededicating their lives to the Lord. Both for us as a family, and for the church, it’s such an encouragement to see how Josiah and Rossana are giving themselves to the work of the Lord in many ways.

Since the recent earthquakes, the Pozzuoli women’s prison has been evacuated. We are very sorry about that as the work was going really well, and many women were showing genuine interest in the gospel and bible study. Patrizia has since been given permission

Bookmarks
The prison in Secondigliano

to go into a much larger prison in a really rough part of Naples called Secondigliano. She has already gone in a few times and has now been given permission to start a craft course where she can share the gospel on a personal level. She has also met with some of the prisoners that were in the Pozzuoli prison. When she is better known in the prison, we hope to ask for permission to hold a weekly Bible study for those who are interested.

I have recently started a discipleship course with a young couple called Giovanni and Antonia. They are both school teachers so have a lot of free time to serve the Lord. They both already help run the adolescent group with Josiah and Rossana, and Giovanni is involved in the sports ministry. This couple has so much potential, so we would really appreciate your prayers for them that they might grow in Christlikeness and serve Him with joy and dedication.

The building project is well and truly underway. A perimeter wall has been built and the foundations have been dug. The ground that has been exposed after digging the foundations is not as solid as previously thought which may be due to having had to dig up the roots of the many orange trees that were previously there. This being the case, stronger foundations are required that will add unexpected costs. We were quite perturbed at this news at first, but turning our eyes upon our Lord, our hearts have been stilled.

As you can see, it is a really strong structure as we live in an earthquake zone

A few weeks ago, we got the wonderful news that Rossana is expecting! In the will of the Lord, she should give birth mid-March, so we should be grandparents for the first time. We are really looking forward to it and thank the Lord for His amazing grace!

Sunday 9th

SCOTLAND Fife

In May we had three weeks of gospel meetings with the New Stevenson assembly, preaching alongside brother Jack Hay and Joel Hawthorne. There was evidence of God working in the meetings, and only recently we heard the news that a young man who had been attending told his parents that he had trusted the Saviour at this time. All glory to God. The open-air meetings each night were also encouraging.

We were able to take part in the Lurgan readings and conferences in Rathmines (Dublin), and Prestwich (Manchester). There appears to be evidence that more saints are turning out for conferences than has been true in recent years. We trust this interest continues, is genuine, and it has a lasting impact upon the testimony.

A man called Biff told us when we were giving him a lift home in the car in May that he had got saved. He is consistently attending the gatherings at Glencraig and is supported well by the saints who also live in Kirkcaldy (where he is from) and who had shared the gospel with him for many months prior to his conversion.

We were with the saints in Bicester throughout June for gospel meetings in a tent, serving with brother Jonathan Black. It was such an encouragement to see 40-50 people from the locality coming to these meetings with ‘new’ people attending most nights. A number asked us for serious discussions and quite a few expressed the desire to be saved and so we pray that they will soon see further blessing. A lady called Fran professed faith in Christ. We pray that she will go on to live for God. She is attending the meetings in Bicester and is showing great joy. We have recently heard that a brother of a sister in the meeting, Peter, was also saved around the time of the tent meetings. Praise God. There has been quite a few saved in Bicester in these last couple of years; continue to pray for the assembly as they try to support these young believers. We were also able to participate in June in the Bristol conference.

In early July we were in Tampa, USA and I was able to take a short series of ministry meetings and take part in some gospel meetings. It was good to experience the warmth of the saints and see their interest in the Word. Also, to help with the Spanish meetings in the home of some Venezuelans, as well as the ‘trailer park’ work preaching from a lorry –this is like a drive-in gospel meeting with chairs outside and no cars! We received word when we returned that a Venezuelan older teenager had professed faith in the Lord Jesus when we spoke in one of their homes on Romans 10:9. To God be the glory.

Open-air gospel meeting in Tampa, USA

In the latter half of July, we were helping lead the bible readings in Bushmills on Genesis 1 to 5. The time at Bushmills was a real tonic to our souls. The interest night by night was quite overwhelming. The brethren’s contributions were helpful and practical. I came home absolutely drained, but thankful to God that so many have heard the Word of God as well as the gospel being preached in the open air in Portrush daily. We also enjoyed being with, and trying to help, the assemblies at Bushmills, Ballintoy, Ballymoney and Quilly during our time in Northern Ireland.

Back at home, we also seek to maintain a monthly gospel meeting in Kirkcaldy and Bannockburn. We have seen blessing in recent times and there are always new faces showing in these areas. We appreciate all the brethren and sisters who support these works. The drive-in gospel meetings in Glencraig continued each Sunday in the centre of Lochore Meadows Country Park from May to early August. I was able to preach on the last Sunday and was encouraged by the number of unsaved present. Large numbers of people who were in the park would have heard the word preached throughout the summer. Please pray for these outreach works.

Alasdair Baijal and I took gospel tent meetings in our garden in fellowship with the Glencraig assembly throughout August. Over 80 ‘locals’ attended, and many others came from further afield. So far, we know of one girl who has professed faith in Christ. Praise God. We pray that we will hear of further blessing in salvation. We also spoke at a wedding of a young couple at this time.

In September I was back in Kirkmuirhill, South Larnarkshire, for the conference and a week of ministry meetings with an encouraging interest. At the time of writing we have started in Port William and are preaching in a portable hall with Alasdair Baijal. This is in fellowship with the Glenluce and Newton Stewart assemblies. Over the years this has been a fertile place for souls to be saved, we trust the ground will yield again.

Tent metings this August in Glencraig with many of our neighbours attending

Monday 10th

BRAZIL Rio Grande Do Sul

We have just concluded a six-week series of gospel meetings in a rented garage in a small town called Braga, 28 miles from Três Passos.  Sr Elton, one of the national evangelists recently commended to full time service, joined me in this effort.  We are very grateful for his help and sacrifice, as he made the long journey from his home in Sombrio, Santa Catarina.  Together with Balduino, a beloved brother and respected overseer of the assembly, we distributed tracts and invitations in the town, as well as in two neighbouring towns.  The overall response was very limited, although we did have a neighbour and a few friends of the family who rented the garage, attend for a night or two.

One man, Sr Leandro who has been partially paralysed since childhood, listened well and told us that during these meetings he realised he is a sinner - after hearing the gospel for a year and a half!  Sadly, Dona Rosa has not yet understood this but is full of religious confusion.  Tiago and Dona Elisângela, who have also been listening to the gospel for some time, both expressed a desire to be saved during this series.  They listened attentively and showed real concern, but we are still waiting to hear them confess Christ as Saviour and Lord.  We deeply value the prayers of the saints as we continue to labour in the gospel in this area, trusting that in God’s time there will be a season of reaping.

Capivari assembly have an all-day conference on Saturday. We look forward to gathering with the Lord’s people there, praying that it will be a day of rich spiritual blessing, with a real sense of God’s presence and help in the Bible Reading, Ministry of the Word, and Gospel Meeting.

Tuesday 11th

ALBANIA Tirana

Our Saturday morning tracting continues to be very fruitful, and I’m so encouraged that two other brethren join me faithfully each week. Just to mention two cases: Please remember Altin in prayer. We first met him one Saturday, and when we saw him again the following week, he was deeply touched to hear that we had prayed for him just an hour earlier. We’ve also been in contact for some time with another young man, Fatos, whom we first met at the square. He has some knowledge of the Bible, but he is still uncertain about his standing before God. Both of these young men have said they would come to the Gospel meeting, and we trust that nothing will hinder them from hearing further the message of salvation.  “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).

We are thankful to the Lord for the progress being made in the publishing work. At present, three new books are at different stages of preparation.  Salvation by Ron Diprose is nearly ready for the layout phase, which is an exciting milestone. In addition, I am currently engaged in the proofreading of Biblical Eldership and continue with the translation of Bringing Us to Glory also by David Gooding. We look forward to seeing the first two books published before the National Bookfair in November. Both are strong in doctrinal teaching and underline precious biblical truths that are so greatly needed among Christians here in Albania. We give thanks to the Lord for opening the door for such projects and for sustaining us through the process.

We are greatly encouraged by the online discipleship program. We have just recommenced after the summer break and are delighted that the number of students has grown to twenty-five. This is particularly heartening when we remember that only a few years ago we started with just three believers from our own assembly. During the next three months, we will be focusing on the study of the Old Testament, while five newcomers will begin studying the Gospels. We meet with them in person once a month for a time of teaching, discussion, and answering questions, which has been a rich blessing for us all. Please continue to pray that the participants will grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our earnest desire is to see them strengthened in faith and equipped to serve Him faithfully in their own spheres of life and respective assemblies.

Wednesday 12th

VENEZUELA Los Altos

We are currently taking advantage of the school holidays to spend a few weeks in Cumaná, the capital of Sucre state, together with Mr & Mrs Noel McKeown. Historical records identify this city as the firstborn of the American continent, founded more than 500 years ago and currently with nearly 400,000 inhabitants, but where there is still no assembly. For several years, Mr James Walmsley, Mr Noel McKeown, Mr Samuel Rojas and others, have devoted their prayers, time, and effort to see a group of believers gathered in the name of the Lord, but it has not been easy.

By the grace of God, some have professed and have remained faithful. They usually gather at brother Valentín’s house twice a week, and on Sundays they hold the children´s Bible class and evening Gospel meeting. At present, we are preaching outdoors in front of Mr Agustín’s house, husband of sister Rosa, in a neighborhood called Tres Picos. This is the second time we have preached there, and the brethren are encouraged; seeing Mr Agustín, his mother, some of his sisters, and other unbelievers come closer to hear the preaching fills us with joy. We have been visiting and evangelising the area; it is large and we are few, but we trust in the Lord, who helps us. We feel that the meetings have warmed up, some are showing confidence and feeling free to comment and ask us questions about the preaching. For now, we will continue here, praying that the Lord will allow us to rejoice with some redeemed soul for His glory. It is a difficult field, and for this reason we ask for your prayers on behalf of the work here in Cumaná.

The country remains deeply affected by political problems, which in turn bear upon the economy, public services, and frequently generate social tension. Nevertheless, we give thanks to our God that, by His grace, there remains freedom to preach the Gospel and gather in His name. Thus, the more than two hundred assemblies that the Lord has established continue their exercise before Him, and the Gospel is proclaimed.

Once again, we ask for your prayers on behalf of the work in Venezuela and for the good hand of our Lord upon us.

MEXICO Cancun Qta. Roo

The assembly here in Cancun has been keeping active with the regular meetings and has been involved in the furtherance of the gospel, through the children’s work and the Sunday evening gospel meeting. It is an encouragement to see the believers strengthening themselves in the Lord, despite many of them going through various trials in their personal lives.

A year ago, we began having a Bible Reading each Tuesday evening. It has been a joy to see the interest and involvement of the believers, as well as the growth of the brethren in their weekly participation in the study. We are currently in the book of Philippians, which has been providing rich and uplifting teaching for each one of us.

We were very thankful to the Lord for our week of children’s meetings which took place mid-August. The believers were very involved in helping with the logistics of the classes. The children were divided up into four classes, depending on their age. On the last night, we had a total of 95 children and young people in attendance, and each one was given a bag with school supplies and treats. Each year these classes have been a great encouragement, as a number of parents also attend with their children.

Our coworkers, David and Saly Cadenas, spent six weeks in Venezuela this past summer and they really enjoyed being with their families and also their commending assembly, among other assemblies. They were actively involved in the work there during the time in the country.

There are some unsaved adults who attend the regular meetings: José, Antonio, René, Norma, Rebeca, José Alejandro, Gloria and Carmen. We ask for prayer for their spiritual awakening. A few weeks ago, an older lady named Marta, who started to attend in May, told us that she had got saved early in August. It was an answer to prayer.

We plan to spend two weeks in Cuautla, Morelos with Duncan and Anna Beckett at the beginning of October. Duncan is putting up a tent in the city and we will be helping with the gospel preaching, God willing. We would appreciate prayer for this effort.

Prayer Requests:

• For an upcoming series of Gospel meetings in the Gospel Hall at the end of October, DV

• For safety from violence and dangers in this city

• For the upcoming trip to Cuautla, Morelos

• For increased interest in the message of salvation among the people in Cancun

COSTA RICA

We are currently in the process of printing 15,000 calendars for distribution once again in both Costa Rica and Panama. This year we designed a customised calendar with photos of birds unique to the two countries. Brother Marcos Sequera from Panama wrote an excellent gospel message for the inside front page of the calendars. The calendars, provided through International Bible House, have been a tremendous blessing over the years and consistently draw in several new contacts to different assemblies in Costa Rica and Panama as a result of their distribution.

The bi-annual conference in the San Juan assembly, in the capital city of San Jose, continues to be a high point for many of the believers each year. With conferences on the first weekend of March and September each year, there is always the feeling that the next conference is right around the corner. Over the years, the believers have taken on most of the responsibilities of organising and planning the conference and we have continued to take more of a hands-off approach which has allowed others to grow and flourish.

The powerful and gifted teaching of the Word of God has no substitute when it comes to the growth of individual believers and the local assembly as a whole. We are thankful for those who have the spiritual gift of teaching that have been able to come and help in the conference over the years. This September, we were blessed to have back again brothers Tony Flett and Mark Bachert from Nicaragua to help with the three days of preaching. Brother Tony covered the interesting topic of “The Teachings of the Lord Jesus after His Resurrection” which tied in very well with brother Mark covering several of “The Servant Songs and Promises of Christ” in the book of Isaiah.

Conference-Sept2025

This year the conference weekend was especially busy with a wedding taking place on the Sunday evening. After having focused on Christ so much

in the two days of teaching, it was a fitting finale to witness the God-appointed display of Christ’s love for the church as seen in marriage.

Please pray for continued spiritual growth among the local churches in the country and for more local believers to be raised up as leaders and teachers among the Lord’s people.

ZAMBIA Chitokoloki

The plane was busy in July, with a number of flights for visitors along with a few extra flights for Sakeji Mission School’s hundred-year anniversary.  The celebration was over a weekend and was attended by former Sakeji pupils from all over the world.  It was an encouraging time and remarkable to see how much the time spent at Sakeji meant to so many people.  It has been, and still is, a place where students get a well-rounded, Gospel-centred Christian education.  Several testimonies were shared by people who were saved during their time at Sakeji.

After flights for the Sakeji event were done, a doctor from Scotland was flown up to Chit to help for a month, along with a local evangelist from Lusaka, Mr Kapanji.  He lives in Lusaka but is originally from North-western Province where we are and is a gifted teacher, fluent in Luvale.  He spoke at a conference nearby in Kayula village, organised by the assembly there, with the help of Dr. Chibwe from Chitokoloki Mission Hospital.  The teaching given was appreciated by the local believers, including some younger girls who have been saved recently in the Chitokoloki area.  We were happy to see them encouraged.

We also had our Junior camps in July which went smoothly with around 100 at girls’ camp and 100 at boys’ camp.  We turned some girls away so maybe we’ll do a 6th camp next year to accommodate everyone who wants to come!  Anyway, it feels good to have finished the camps for 2025.

We will be going up to Dipalata Mission to cover the furlough of the missionary family up there.  We leave tomorrow.  We plan to be up there for about two months, God willing, during which time Chris wants to give a concentrated effort to improving his Lunda.  We would appreciate your prayers for the Lord’s help and that the time in Dipalata would be productive.

Sunday 16th IRELAND Cootehill

A “STEP” Bible Teaching Weekend: It was encouraging to have almost 70 young believers with us from all over Ireland. Gareth taught “An overview of the Book of Leviticus”. It was an intensive weekend with seven sessions, but those present expressed how they had been challenged and helped.

Holiday Bible Club in Newbliss: During the last week of June, in the local Community Centre, we had 75 children on the roll, with a great number of parents with us on the last evening (see picture). It was encouraging to see some of the young men of the assembly giving sound gospel messages to the children who attended.

Annual PBS Summer Camp at Avoca: In the third week of July we had a group of 122 for one week of camp in Co. Wicklow. God blessed as Martin Peters shared the word of God from the Book of Daniel and we were encouraged when one young girl of 18, who trusted the Saviour last year at Camp, asked if she could be baptised. She lives locally and was baptised on the last Sunday of August. She has since joined us in the fellowship of the assembly.

As we look to the future:

Drum Bible Activity Week: We always run this the week before the children return to school. Around 70 children attended each evening and most of them brought their parents on the final evening. Please pray for the local families we have contact with. We are praying earnestly for salvation to change homes.

Joy Ann Flynn: Joy Ann is an ex Postal Bible School student who feels led of the Lord to take a one-year break from her career. She has joined the administrative staff at the Postal Bible School office in Cootehill. Please pray for Joy Ann as she settles into the busy PBS Schedule and helps with the work of the assembly.

Four Sunday Evenings in September: We have just had four evangelistic evenings when Stevie Rogers gave an overview of the Book of the Revelation. It was an opportunity to invite many unsaved along to hear of God’s plan for the coming days. Pray for those who heard God’s Word, that the Holy Spirit will convict and draw souls to the Saviour.

Autumn Activities: This month we have re-commenced the Children’s Bible Club on Monday; Community Coffee Mornings and Parent and Toddler Group on Wednesdays; Men’s and Ladies’ Bible Studies; “The SHED” Teenager’s Outreach on the last Saturday of each month; and regular Gospel Meetings on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

Building Project: Plans have been approved to renovate the existing hall (which is very needful), and to build additional facilities beside the hall which will be used for evangelism, building links with the community, and shining the local light of testimony a little more brightly. We would value your prayers for this development.

MEXICO

Acts 19-20

In recent months we have had a few gospel and ministry efforts in Xalapa. In July, we had an encouraging week of house gospel meetings with brother Timothy Stevenson, followed by a week of children’s meetings later in the month in the hall with the help of brother Ricky Sawatzky. In August, the assembly enjoyed a week of ministry, when brother Paul Thiessen gave the saints refreshing and challenging ministry from the lives of the patriarchs. We look to the Lord to bless His word.

We were with the Nezahualcóyotl assembly in Mexico City for their annual conference in September, along with a number of the other workers, to share in the ministry. The overseers had requested teaching on the subject of the family, and a nice variety of ministry was given on this theme. The assembly was also encouraged when the sixteenyear-old daughter of one of the overseers was baptised.

We continue with the regular ongoing activities in gospel, ministry and literature work. Tonight we recommenced the weekly children’s meeting, and were a little discouraged that some who attended the special series in July did not return. However, we trust in the Lord that they will attend in the coming weeks.

Lord willing, we plan to commence a short gospel series on Lord’s Day 12th October with the help of brother Melvin Mendez from Philadelphia, USA, and we would appreciate your prayers for this effort. Our brother can’t stay with us for long, but we will carry on with the help of local brethren if there is interest. Specifically pray that there might be a response from the area; that those who attend the regular weekly meeting will attend; that the Lord’s presence would be experienced nightly; above all, that His name might be honoured.

MALAWI Saidi

We thank the Lord for giving us many opportunities to spread the gospel in different ways this year.

During the months of May and June, I travelled around the country training Sunday school teachers and distributing around 60,000 BibleTime books. We praise the Lord for reports of how this curriculum is opening the eyes of teacher and student alike to the true meaning of God’s Word. Please pray that He will use this material to make many wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15) and develop a generation of spiritually mature and grounded Christians. There remains a lot of work to do with follow-up and visiting to encourage proper use of the material. Please pray for wisdom to know how to best do this in the coming months.

We are thankful that we were able to print 6,000 Emmaus courses in the country a month or so ago. The past year we have been revising and updating the material, as well as adding to the 12 or so courses that existed, with the hope of restarting the work. God willing, we will be in a place to begin distributing courses as soon as next week. My prayer is that we can continue to build our library, as there is a dearth of clear, Biblically-sound teaching material in the local language, Chichewa. Please pray with us that God will use this material to reach and teach many Malawians, especially in light of the lack of workers. I look forward to seeing the power of His word at work in the lives of many.

School will be starting tomorrow, God willing, after being delayed for elections. The results are still not out. Please pray that the peace that we have enjoyed during election season will continue during and after the release of the results. The resumption of classes means we will be opening our Saturday and Sunday Bible classes. Please continue to pray for the salvation of the many children who come. How wonderful it would be to see the Lord raise them up to continue the work of spreading the gospel and making disciples. We are also anticipating the start of school visits again, with the goal of prayerfully choosing some schools for a regular, weekly Bible class. Please pray the Lord will give clear direction for this work.

As always, there is an unlimited number of open doors but a very limited number of workers. Please pray for the Lord to raise up labourers for this very plentiful harvest. Please pray as well for wisdom and grace to help disciple and equip local believers to help in and eventually take over various aspects of the work.

Thank you for praying with and for us! God is at work here. May He get all the glory.

Emmaus Courses in Chichewa

Wednesday

SCOTLAND Aberdeen

By God’s grace we are able to look back and give thanks for the opportunities that He has provided to proclaim the Gospel.

The Lord has enabled me to continue teaching the ‘Explore the Essentials’ course in local Primary Schools. The 2024/25 academic year was a very busy and profitable time of classroom teaching, and during the school year about 650 children received twelve one-hour classroom Bible lessons. The teaching is interactive, and questions are invited which often provides great openings to teach the gospel. Recently, during teaching about the birth of the Lord Jesus, a young man asked “So, why did God send a Saviour?” thus I could tell him about our greatest need being met through Jesus Christ.

I am able to run three lunchtime clubs in local schools from September to June. These are fast paced as they only last 30 minutes, so we teach a Bible lesson and enjoy a concluding quiz.

In June my home assembly (Fernielea Gospel Hall) hosted the Ultimate Adventure Exhibition and visited the local Highland Games. We were very thankful that every slot for the exhibition was filled, so over 350 children had a guided tour of the exhibition, whilst completing activity worksheets. Each visit was concluded with a lively quiz time. After marking the worksheets, we always return to the schools for a prizegiving assembly.

The Hazlehead Highland Games is an annual event in a nearby park that attracts over 10,000 visitors. During the day we distributed over 500 John 3:16 bags that included a gospel booklet. Most encouraging was the number of Gospel books that we distributed and the conversations had. We do trust that the Lord will use all that was done for His glory.

Bible Exhibition Hazlehead Games

At a time when many false philosophies and worldviews are being propagated, the Summer Camps bring wonderful opportunities to teach youngsters the truth. I had the privilege of serving at the North East of Scotland Christian Youth Camp (NECYC) when Blair Martin helpfully spoke about the Lord’s rescue mission.

For the third year in succession, it was a real joy to help the saints at Riverside Christian Assembly with their summer holiday club. Over 70 children attended, and we enjoyed a very profitable time. As the Tall Ships had been in Aberdeen, we followed a ship theme in all the messages with a concluding message on prize-giving night about John Harper and the Titanic, when we spoke about there being a list with two columns detailing the ‘Lost’ and the ‘Saved’ and then relating that to our spiritual state.

The new academic year has recommenced, and I am very thankful to report that, once again, the Lord has continued to keep doors open for me to teach in many local primary schools. The diary is very full to June 2026.

Prayer Points:

• Thank the Lord for His goodness in allowing many children to hear the Bible taught in the classroom.

• The Lord will continue to provide opportunities to teach Bible truth in Primary Schools.

• The Lord will give the needed energy, wisdom, and patience so that the classroom teaching will be done in a manner that honours Him.

• The Lord will use the seed that is being sown to bring many young children to Himself.

‘Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace…’ 2 Tim 1:9.

The 16 children in our home are doing well. Liam, the youngest, is thriving and keeps us all entertained with his antics. He recently took a New Testament and led my daughter by the hand to sit in the living room and have a Bible study, complete with the few choruses he has learned how to sing.

Lupita (who arrived with extreme malnutrition as well as additional health conditions) has also surprised us by starting to say few words, the first one being Jesus as she loves to hear “Jesus loves me” sung to her. Three of

the five toddlers started preschool this year and four of the oldest are in high school. They are in a local public high school, and we ask for prayers for their preservation in this evil world. Nelson (15) professed after Allan’s passing. The three girls are Gabriela (14), Belen (14) and Antonieta (13) – please pray for their salvation. We were able to take the children to two national conferences this year. We managed to get a couple of small cars in condition for the trip and packed the 20 of us in. We also try to get them a day or two to the beach as they greatly enjoy it and wouldn’t have the opportunity otherwise.

The work with the school has grown and the Lord has been faithful in providing. Two new schoolrooms and four bathrooms were built for the current year. There are 115 children enrolled up to grade 5. By God’s grace, there is no issue in filling the slots as parents even want to save a place for their unborn children! Our hearts were

filled with unworthiness as local authorities commended the school as unique for the order and peaceful environment observed during inspections.

The construction of the gospel hall in Barinas has been advancing slowly but surely. This year, a crucial retention wall beside the canal was built just in time before heavy rains flooded a lot of the country. The hall remained dry! The next step is to put flooring in, although there have been no complaints about gathering on a dirt floor. All the available space was used for the hall and it will seat 800. The brethren have been praying to be able to host a conference as the nearest ones are 3 and 4 hours away. They usually try to rent a bus among themselves to be able to get to the conferences. This represents a great sacrifice for them as the cost would amount to at least two weeks’ pay.

The construction of the gospel hall in Barinas city, the small bridge goes over the canal where the retention wall needed to be built

We covet your prayers and intercession at the throne of grace. We know that He who produces the desire also provides the strength to carry out His purpose in us according to His grace (Phil 2:13).

It’s one thing to be alive, it’s quite a different thing to be living a life…alive in Christ, “for me to live is Christ" Phil 1:21, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” Gal 2:20. Might we both be alive in Christ and living out the in-living Christ.

With sadness we still feel the void left by the home call of our dear sister Hilda. She was only 54 when cancer took her from us in July. She leaves behind a bright testimony to God’s grace, but sadly she also left behind a daughter and husband who are not saved. She showed no fear, only peace and a sure hope in her salvation and acceptance of the perfect will of God, as she exited this earthly stage and stepped into her eternal abode.

We just finished an encouraging week of VBS. We had about 65 different faces over the week, and at least 45 daily, also many parents stayed, often up to a dozen. Many commented throughout the week that they had heard things that had caused them to think. A few of these parents would be saved but attend places that are very “light” on the gospel and would practice very little New Testament church truth.

Cemetery - Hilda's Funeral
VBS Group
Hall - Hilda's Funeral

We have a good relationship with these families. They are often in our home, and we have opportunity to share the gospel and New Testament church teaching with them. They often ask us who we are and why we gather the way we do, because they have never seen nor heard this teaching before and it’s so contrary to the religious culture that blinds them.

In August we had a small group of young ladies join us for a couple of weeks to help in some outreaches we are involved in. It was encouraging as they helped at the orphanage each day with a variety of activities, as well as visiting the local hospital with baby packages for new mothers. With the recent permission from the Ministry of Education we were able to get into a few schools and distribute a Bible verse (Seed Sower text) to each child as well.

We have recently been encouraged by some new contacts coming in to hear the gospel, as well as others who attend the regular gospel meeting and then stay for a special social time afterwards on the last Sunday of each month. After the preaching of the Gospel, we have a time of singing hymns and then a light meal is served to all.

May the Lord continue to give help and strength to sow the good seed, and we leave the increase with Him.

ZAMBIA

Hot season has begun, and the temperatures are around 36°C now.  It is very dry and dusty.  I find this time of the year the hardest to work in because the heat is so draining.  There are continuous bush fires as the community burns bush vegetation to re-fertilise the ground in preparation for cultivating.  We are seeing so many with coughs, sneezing and respiratory complaints.  God willing the rains will start at the end of October and these are absolutely vital for good harvests and power supplies within the country.  Most folk here are subsistence

farmers.  Poor crops not only have an impact on food supplies, but with no extra to sell, there is no money to buy uniforms for children to attend school.  There is a roll-on effect of increased prices throughout the country.  The national grid electricity depends on hydroelectric schemes, so poor rains add to the already struggling power supplies.  The last few years have meant that daily power cuts are now the norm.  With this mobile networks also go down and communication is difficult.

We regularly care for individuals with very bad burns – often epileptics.  Cooking here is done using charcoal or wood.  Houses are thatched and the environment is dry and prone to easy combustion.  Sadly, the local beliefs about seizures cause much fear so they are not rescued until after the seizure has stopped – thus resulting in serious burns indeed.  Wound care, skin grafting and dressing changes form a large part of my regular workload here at Chitokoloki.  Many of these patients have large smelly wounds and are quite ostracised by other people as a result.  Being able to provide nice toiletries, air freshener and just some kindness makes a big difference to them.  Such patients tend to be with us for an extended period of time as their wounds heal, and it provides lots of opportunity to build up relationships and have good conversations during dressing changes and nursing care.  One current patient lost his right arm and has extensive burns to his chest, abdomen and left arm.  Last week he requested a bible and came to our English gospel meetings.  Please pray for him.  He is recovering from multiple surgeries and so far the skin grafts are taking well.  He will be with us for some weeks – hearing the gospel daily.  The fire has left him with major disabilities, but we pray that his time here will result in his salvation.

Pray too for all the missionary children and staff children who hear the gospel each week.  There are many little people at Chitokoloki and we desire that they trust the Lord young in life.  Chitokoloki is busy with activity alongside all the medical work.  Please do pray for us – for continued strength – and for all our dear colleagues and staff.  It feels like each week someone in our team is bereaved of a loved one.  Alcohol, debt, troubled relationships, unplanned pregnancies, financial problems and family pressures are commonplace.  Many of the struggles are unseen.  Only the Lord can help us navigate life.  We seek to shine as lights in the darkness and show a little kindness in a hard world.

Sunday 23rd

CANADA Portage la Prairie

It was a real privilege to lead four series of Children’s Treasure Seekers in July and August. The Lord wonderfully overruled in so many ways; in attendance (some parents also joined each day), in attention, the weather, in safety, in help given to prepare and speak and in the sweet fellowship enjoyed with each of these local assemblies. Some 327 children in total attended these four assembly outreaches, with an average of 58 kids per day. Though, to date, we haven’t heard of any being saved, we’re thankful the Word of God has been sown into these young hearts and would value prayer that it will yet bear fruit. Also, please pray that the local Sunday Schools will be added to as a result of these efforts.

A few highlights come to mind. In Portage la Prairie, as I was just about to give the Bible story on Hezekiah, we had a power outage. So, with no power point or back up pictures to show from a book, I had to move into drama mode to hold their attention! At Roseisle, it was particularly encouraging to see 3 or 4 rows of young people (aged 17-25) who are now in fellowship enthusiastically supporting the outreach, but who had once sat in children’s meetings in the past! It was our second consecutive year that we had been given permission by the local school board to erect a tent on a school playing field. This time it was erected opposite our home in Steinbach. Some returned from last year and some were from the school itself, though the majority of the kids here are homeschooled. Finally in Winnipeg, the children were great singers and all the kids, from many different backgrounds, got along really well together, especially when enjoying the games session.

Tent in Steinbach

This summer the Lord wonderfully provided so that PBS can employ someone to help Elaine in the office. A summer student quickly picked things up and was a real help in many ways. She continues to help when her home-schooling schedule allows. The Canada Post situation remains uncertain, so we would value prayer that there will not be any further strike disruption, especially in December.

Our exercise to preach for four consecutive Sundays in August in a park at the end of our street, was also an encouraging time. Each week there were several locals present, some returning and even when we had to abandon the park due to rain on the second Sunday, three adults came back to the hall in Mitchell. Please pray again for all who heard the weekly messages from John 3:16, including our own families’ children and for any literature taken or passed on. We were much encouraged by the support of our home assembly. The earlier time of 4:00pm seemed to suit those with young families especially. We are now prayerfully considering whether to book the same venue for next July, God willing. The photo shows the local believers engaged in conversation with some of the visitors after the meeting.

Prayer would be appreciated for the safe delivery of over 4,000 BibleTime Booklets for use in 17 schools in St. Lucia. If they arrive before the end of November, as expected, I will book flights to go down in early December to distribute them with a local brother, who is helping in this work. If they don’t arrive until December, distribution will have to be postponed until January, as the schools break early for Christmas.

Preaching in the Park

Monday 24th

BRAZIL Porto Alegre

We are very happy with the children’s work in two outreach areas, where children of families not associated with our regular meetings in the gospel hall, show an interest and memorise scripture verses each week. A gospel meeting following the children’s meeting continues in one of the areas.

In July we were able to finalise the purchase of a site adjoining the gospel hall in Porto Alegre. The family who lived in the house on that site offered it to us as it had been the owners wish to sell it to Dad, if ever the time came for it to be sold. This man, called Tadeu, lived beside the hall since it was built in 1964, raised his family there, and died there a few years ago, but never came into the hall to hear the gospel nor did any of his family. He did come as far as the door one night many years ago while drunk, to remonstrate at brother Tom Matthews for his very loud voice while preaching.  In latter years however, he was very friendly toward the believers and in particular to my father. He passed away suddenly one evening as we were arriving for the weeknight Bible reading, still clutching to the vain, hopeless, pointless, and empty beliefs of the religious system which has held so many millions in darkness over the centuries here in South America. Mother was called into the house as he was taking his last breath, but he was just passing out into eternity.

During this year mother had been able to attend most of the meetings in Porto Alegre. However, at the end of May she was admitted to hospital for 10 days for treatment of a respiratory condition, the diagnosis of which is still unclear. She is on continual oxygen support at home but thankfully never in distress, though does become breathless when required to do any light physical activity.

During the month of August, brother Gabriel Dutra and I had a series of gospel meetings in the neighbouring town of Alvorada. The hall was filled each night and two professed

Gregg & Elizabeth Buchanan with Beth Wilson

to be saved: a young man in his 30s and a lad of 14 years old. The young man is called Richard. His great grandfather was saved in Rio Pardo in the early days of the late John McCann, his grandfather was saved later in life in Alvorada, and his mother was saved listening to the gospel preached on Zoom during the pandemic. Richard’s brother, who refused to come into the sitting room and listen to the gospel with his mother, nevertheless put his ear to the wooden wall and listened to the gospel from an adjoining room and was also saved a week after his mother. Sadly, his father died of Covid, unsaved, at the beginning of the pandemic.

On the Saturday night, after the end of the series, a neighbour who lived in front of the hall and who used to park his car on the footpath in front of a text bearing the words of Romans 5:8, was shot dead on that very spot. He never came to a meeting, even though invited many times over the years. It was a solemn meeting that Sunday evening.

August marked two years since Dad was called Home to Glory. While he is very much missed along with others, it is wonderful to see the work of the Lord continue, with much activity in gospel work and large gatherings of believers at conferences. Smaller assemblies in the interior of the state need spiritual encouragement and growth.  We will have a conference in Capivari next Saturday D.V., after many years of discouragement and difficulties which made it impossible to hold a conference there. We trust that it will be a time of blessing.

There is great need all around and the enemy is busy sowing tares and seeking to destroy what has been built. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” Ephesians 6:12. With renewed thanks for your interest and prayers for the work of the Lord in Brazil.

As always, I am so thankful to the Lord that I can live independently so far at 89 years of age and attend my home assembly (Pennsauken Gospel Hall), which meetings are a joy.  We have good gospel preaching, with the blessing of some precious souls professing faith in Christ this year.  It is a joy to see the participation of some of the young men.  The young people do avail themselves of many conferences near and far.

We have a local home bible study for ladies in the town of Haddonfield composed of several ladies from the assembly reaching out to ladies in the community, some saved and some not saved yet. This bible study is to resume on 3rd October, studying the Gospel of Luke.  Gene Higgins is to give us an introduction to this study of Luke.

Our brethren have meetings on Lord’s Day in Spanish for the many who attend and do not know English very well.  So many have come to this country from South America and Central America, so this is a great opportunity to try and reach them with the gospel.

CANADA St Thomas, Ontario

As we look back, we do so with immense gratitude to God, for the way He has graciously involved us in a little part of His great purpose for the nations, through Christ. In 2008, we arrived in Hermosillo, Mexico, with three little girls, and very little Spanish knowledge. We can trace His hand, as He faithfully gave us increased confidence in the language and added four more children over the years. We were encouraged to see God’s blessing, as we worked in discipling the young in the faith, preaching the gospel, working with children and young folks, as well as some writing.

In 2023, we prayerfully made the decision before the Lord to make the transition to Canada. This was not an easy decision, but one we felt was in the will of the Lord. We had been praying about stepping back from the assembly we were a part of, in order to allow God to further develop and strengthen the work. Additionally, our older girls were reaching post-secondary age, and we wanted to be present with them to help with the significant transition that would mean for them. So, in April of 2024, after almost 16 years, we packed up our final belongings, said a tearful goodbye to believers we had come to love, and made the long 4,000km drive north.

Our adjustment to life in Canada has come with both expected and unexpected obstacles, yet God has reminded us repeatedly that each is fully under His control. The country has changed, the assembly has changed, and so have we! Since our arrival, we have tried to be available to help in assemblies in the area, and occasional series of meetings, but our main exercise is to work locally.

The assembly has got quite small, but we look for opportunities to be involved in what God is doing here. He has brought us into contact with some Hispanic newcomers, as well as other immigrants, who often show a good level of gospel interest. We were encouraged by the salvation of a Muslim man this Spring, and his ongoing hunger for the

Scriptures. The Sunday school has grown, with a good number of both children, and parents and grandmothers attending. Most of the children have significant family and/or developmental challenges and have experienced trauma on multiple levels.

In October, I am to make a third visit this year to Mexico, DV. The whole family was able to return for a week in March, which was a real highlight for our children. The assembly there has had its challenges, but God has graciously preserved them, and there is numerical and spiritual growth evident.

Your prayers would be most appreciated for the following:

• Hermosillo, Mexico – wisdom for overseers; preservation of young people; salvation of believers’ family members.

• St. Thomas, Canada – help to love more deeply those who are most vulnerable and need salvation; spiritual growth of those young in the faith; growth and preservation of the small assembly.

We are currently supporting an outreach in the gospel in the small town of Tokoroa. Given the make-up of the town, the work is hard and the people are indifferent. Some nights, only one visitor was in attendance, while at other times quite a few responded to invitations.

One lady who has been attending every night since the start of the campaign is called Juanita – please pray for her. She has a real struggle at the moment and is under the attack of Satan, as we know she is under deep conviction. This outreach is now entering its fourth week.

I was supposed to join Cameron Piper (England) in the preaching (at Tokoroa) this week, but due to personal circumstances, I was unable to travel down to Tokoroa.

Locally, we have commenced a series of ministry meetings on Assembly Principles. Please pray that the convictions of both the old and young will deepen as a result of this exercise.

Your prayers for us and the Lord’s work are most appreciated. May you too know the Lord’s help, blessing and encouragement in service for the Lord in your locality.

With the Lords help we have been able to start the children’s bible classes again, after several weeks off during the school holidays. The numbers have been smaller, but we trust they will increase in the weeks ahead. We can see the need of starting classes in other areas of the city and pray the Lord will open other doors and give us the needed help to bring God’s Word to many children who are totally ignorant of what the bible teaches.

San Carlos

Last week we were going to start gospel meetings in the gospel hall here in Tucupita, but a young man who was a grandson of one of the believers was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. His grandmother asked us to preach the gospel in her home instead, so unsaved relatives who are with her may be able to hear. So, David Perez and I are preaching in this home for a few nights before commencing the series in the hall. In our country there has been a huge proliferation of motorcycles, as they are more accessible than vehicles and cheaper on fuel, but the imprudence and lack of control has caused so many fatal accidents.

Aldemar, the young man of 30, who professed to be saved in meetings held in January, passed away at the end of August. He had suffered from Tuberculosis, and it had already practically destroyed his lungs. But his testimony in these few months gave us assurance and we were gladly able to preach the gospel at his funeral, and then his unsaved parents and brothers asked for meetings in the days following. In this way many who have never heard the gospel are present and God gives them an opportunity.

Janokosebe is an indigenous community where we have been working for years with a bible class for children and a gospel meeting, but have not seen many results, apart from the elderly brother Don Guillermo who is in fellowship. Recently, a man called Leo, who had come quite often to the meetings, told us he was saved. He shows a keen interest in hearing and reading God’s word. Then, another man called Felimar, who had also been attending the meetings and asking questions, told us he had got saved a few days ago in his home after the meeting. I had given him a bible and reading glasses and he is reading with great interest. These cases encourage us to continue, even though the results in salvation are slow to come. Please pray for these men. There is so much Pentecostalism in the area that we see the deep need of teaching doctrine and so pray that the Holy Spirit may guide them into the truth.

On the 11th October, we purpose God willing to have a ministry meeting and bible reading here in Tucupita, for the benefit of 11 assemblies in this eastern region of the country. It is a big undertaking for the believers here to receive, for the first time, so many from other assemblies. Several bus loads are expected, even though they need to travel up to four hours. David and I are helping the brethren with the preparations.

ARMENIA

An update on the activities of the assembly in Yerevan.

On the 2nd of August it was a joy to the saints to baptise four believers, one brother and three sisters.

The camp work this summer had a different format, in that the brethren decided to have some outreach camps daily in Yerevan and in three villages around the city, including Dvin. There were 45 to 50 children participating daily. Some of these children may never have heard the gospel before.

Writing from Ireland

Then they went to Stepanavan, about 140km from Yerevan, where there is the assembly camp site. For three days the brethren collected children from three surrounding villages close to the site. Again, there were similar numbers of children attending.

At least half of these children were new to such gatherings. They had the usual activities of camp outreach as well as getting the gospel message each day. Also attending were 18 teenagers who were there to help, but also for teaching from the scripture.

The camp site in Stepanavan, which has a long lease to the assembly, is in need of some repairs. Also, the tents used in the past are well past their useful life cycle. They were purchased years ago when they became available after the earthquake in Armenia in 1988.

There were plans to continue in two more villages, but because of the extreme heat, they were forbidden to do so. In these remote areas there are no fans or cooling systems of any kind.

Do pray for those baptised that they will be an encouragement to the believers. Remember the children who were under the sound of the gospel, that there will be a harvest of young souls for the glory of our Lord and Saviour.

Remember Armenia, an ancient land where there has been much suffering over many centuries. Armenia is Ararat, same meaning, and we know from Genesis 8:4 that the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Armenia.

CANADA Writing from Arizona

Linda and I have recently come home from our latest visit to Old Crow situated in the far north of the Yukon territory, above the Arctic Circle. Yukon is a territory of northwestern Canada, an area of rugged mountains and high plateaus. It is bordered by British Columbia to the south, and by Alaska to the west, and it extends northward above the Arctic Circle to the Beaufort Sea.

Our first trip to Old Crow opened up in 2011 while having gospel meetings in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.  A request

Sadly, drugs, drinking and suicide is all too common in this area.   There are no roads, thus the only way to get there is by airplane or to travel by river boat for many days.  I try to spend time with all those I can, often on the boats alongside those working with their nets. It is a subsistence village and often I spend time helping them sight in rifle scope, etc.

This time in August there was a gathering of about 60 folks for a meal, and my prayer was answered, as I was asked to speak to all.   John 3:16 was the

came asking would we come if they provided air fare and lodging, as she wanted to hear the gospel. Our reply was that if a building could be found for meetings we would come.

The Lord opened doors for us to go in October of that year, with two feet of ice on the river already.  One professed to be saved in the first gospel meetings there.  The work consists of publicly preaching the gospel in whatever place opens to us, door to door visits, time in homes telling the sweet message, and praying with the people.

text I used. A few this year thanked me for the clear teaching. A trapper (wood cutter), when he saw the two roads chart said, ‘this is worth over a thousand dollars; it tells the way to Heaven and real eternal things, which is most important’.

Prayer is requested for our Lord to work in souls, as the good seed has been sown. Please pray for labourers in the Yukon and Alaska, which currently has no full-time workers that we know of. Conditions are very primitive and at times water is boiled for drinking. When travelling outside of the village one needs to be armed in case of bear attacks!  Who will go? May beloved ones be raised to labour for the best of Masters in this area.
