The Thanksgiving Timeline compiled by the Library of Congress says the first Thanksgiving in what now is the U.S. took place in May of 1541 at Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas panhandle. Some 1,500 men led by Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado participated in a Thanksgiving celebration after marching north from Mexico City in search of gold. Following the timeline, we find that the Thanksgiving celebrated by the Pilgrims actually was No. 5 on the list of early Thanksgivings. After Texas, Thanksgiving celebrations or services were held in what now is Florida in 1564, in Maine in 1607 and in Virginia in 1610. The Pilgrim celebration came in 1621. Not yet, but rehearsals for the 2014 LIV Christmas program begin Tuesday, November 11th at 3:30 pm in the Rec. Hall and continue every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding Thanksgiving day) until the program. All singers are welcome regardless of experience. The music is traditional Christmas music. Here’s how it works: 5:15 - 5:30 PM Participants sign in at the Rec Center 5:45 PM Judging will take place 6:00 PM Parade leaves Rec Center and travels throughout the Village Prizes will be awarded at the chili Dump immediately after the parade. The Chili Dump will be held inside the Rec Hall because of our special entertainment. Bring chili and a side - corn bread, chips, dessert, whatever. Look for the sign up sheets at the Activity Center. We expect to see lots and lots of decorated golf carts this year - We want to “show off” for Leslie, don’t we??? IMPORTANT - Don’t forget that you will need to bring your own beverages, set ups, coolers, etc. to D & E Events this year. It is no longer cost effective to have the bar open. 4 LIV RENTAL PROPERTY At the August 27, 2014 meeting, the Board voted to Eliminate 3rd Party Rentals. The Association needed to follow the direction given by our attorney which was: • LIVOA must enforce the 2005 Restated Declarations and all property owners at LIV must comply with the 2005 Restated Declarations. The March 2005 Restated Declarations specifically state in Article VII. that LIVOA “has the exclusive right … to rent lots, which are a part of the Condominium as established by Declaration.” Therefore, any property owner that uses a 3rd Party (instead of LIVOA) to rent their property at LIV is in violation of the 2005 Restated Declarations. LIVOA must put any property owner that violates the 2005 Restated Declarations on notice (pursuant to the 2011 Restated Rules and Regulations of LIVOA) of the violation. LIVOA must then follow the procedures set out in the 2011 Restated Rules and Regulations. Attorney, Rafael Garcia The Designation of Owner form will be eliminated immediately and 3rd party renters that are presently in place will be done effective January 1, 2015. Owner’s who rent out their property will then have to fill out the Guest of owner form as they have in the past and present it to the office in person, by mail or by e-mail.
