About the Event The Long Island Children’s Museum’s annual fundraiser brings out “kids at heart” from across the region to “play with purpose” in support of LICM’s educational programs, family performances and community outreach efforts.

The evening features a continuous cocktail party that allows guests the opportunity to truly experience the Long Island Children’s Museum as they play throughout the galleries, enjoy live performances and explore their creative side in activities and mini-workshops.

A highlight of the evening is the spirited bidding surrounding the Cupcakes Auction as guests vie for experiential packages involving coveted sporting events, highend travel packages, and much more.

Leading figures from the worlds of business, athletics, entertainment and the political and academic arenas support this special “night at the museum”—drawn by their shared interest in the Museum’s efforts on behalf of children and families. This strong support makes Cupcakes & Cocktails the most successful fundraising event on Long Island.

Honoree Profile – Richard J. Daly Inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more …

John Quincy Adams outlined these traits as the definition of leadership. Long Island Children’s Museum applauds tonight’s Honoree for incorporating these principles in all phases of his life.

As Chief Executive Officer and President of Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc., Rich Daly is widely recognized for his leadership abilities and business acumen. Prior to the formation of Broadridge in 2007 as a spin-off of ADP, he founded and was directly responsible for the Investor Communications Solutions (“ICS”) business. The ICS business had two employees when he sold it to ADP in 1989.

Today, ICS has 4,000 associates globally and reported $2.2 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2016. Today, Broadridge, has over 10,000 associates globally and reported $2.9 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2016.

Broadridge was the recipient of New York State’s Society for Human Resource Management award for “Best Companies to Work for in New York State,” the last nine years in a row. Broadridge also earned the prestigious “Gallup Great Workplace Award.”

The company’s philanthropic arm, the Broadridge Foundation, supports myriad organizations here and abroad that provides opportunities to improve the lives of individuals, including the MV Foundation’s Residential School for Girls in India. The program tackles the problems of child labor and illiteracy in India, by enrolling children in Residential Bridge Camps. Locally, the Foundation supports

Fountain House, which provides employment and educational support for individuals with mental illness, in addition to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the United Way. Numerous charities over the years have recognized Daly’s service and support, including Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, Viscardi Center and the Diocese of Brooklyn Futures in Education Scholarship Fund.

Daly has worked with leading business companies since his graduation from the New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, including Arthur Andersen & Co. and Touche Ross & Co, Independent Election Corporation of America, and Thomson McKinnon Securities.

He attended the Harvard Business School’s Young President’s Program from 1996-2004, thereby successfully completing the President’s Program in Leadership. Rich was the recipient of the Ernst & Young 2003 Entrepreneur of the Year Award and Arthur Andersen’s worldwide “Best Practices Award” for “Organization” and “People.” He currently serves as a Director of the SIFMA Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board for the New York Stock Exchange and the National Association of Corporate Directors.

A Message from Our President & Board Chair Welcome to Cupcakes & Cocktails 2017!

Your support of this night enables us to continue the important work that takes place at Long Island Children’s Museum every day on behalf of our region’s children. The last year has been a busy one as LICM developed its next five-year Strategic Long Range Plan. As we mapped out new initiatives and organizational priorities, our role as a community gathering place for all families resonated more strongly than ever; which is reflected in our new mission statement: “Connecting all our communities’ children, and those who care for them, to one another and to a life of wonder, imagination and exploration.

Here, children discover their passions and their relationship to the world we share.”

Tonight as you explore the Museum, you will experience the cultural diversity we see on a daily basis in the food, music, dance and hands on activities available. We are excited to have you learn more about the Museum, and to see how your support helps children and families and students and teachers.

But no single night can capture all that the Museum does. We hope you’ll visit LICM’s newly redesigned website (www.licm.org) to delve deeper into the range of programs, performances, exhibits and community outreach initiatives that you are supporting. Programs like: • LICM4all - that provides museum resources to support children with neurodiversities and physical challenges

• Together to Kindergarten - our kindergarten readiness program that serves dual language learners and stands as a national model • Westbury STEM Partnership – delivers STEM curriculum for 900 first and second graders and professional development to their teachers.

Cupcakes & Cocktails is the Museum’s main fundraising activity. Its success makes all that we do possible. Our thanks to Honoree Rich Daly and Event Co-Chairs Debby and Scott Rechler and Olga and George Tsunis for taking on leadership roles to achieve our ambitious financial goals for this night.

We would also like to thank our colleagues on the LICM Board of Trustees, and Museum staff and volunteers who create and deliver the vibrant Museum experiences that inspire a life of wonder, imagination and creativity to nearly 250,000 visitors annually.

A Message from the Event Co-Chairs Teamwork makes the dream work.

We are proud to be working together to support an organization important to each of us.

We have all been inspired to lend a hand over the years because we have seen how the Children’s Museum has inspired our kids … and millions of other children. The Museum’s value to the community is more important than ever; we need a place where all our children can come together, learn from each other and celebrate their similarities and appreciate their differences.

All of you who are here tonight, and the hundreds of others who have supported the night, have joined the LICM team. You have demonstrated your generous spirit by supporting all the children in our community who have been welcomed, encouraged and inspired in this special place.

We are grateful that Rich Daly has enthusiastically joined Team LICM. He personifies the values of the Children’s Museum and inspires those around him to follow suit … from friends and families to colleagues and employees. His

commitment to causes that level the playing field and create opportunities for people to achieve their dreams is far reaching; extending beyond geographic borders and individual issues.

We would also like to acknowledge the teamwork that exists between the LICM board and staff. This collaborative relationship is in evidence tonight as we present an event that allows all of you to experience the energy and excitement that takes place at the Museum every day. Teamwork that has made this night a success, and allows these experiences to continue uninterrupted for all our children.
