We conclude our month-long celebration with a celebration of community and friendship. Friendship is central to the Buddhist conception of spiritual community, a community that reaches out to all people. Sangha Day is a celebration of the ideal of community based on friendship, shared values, empathy and courage. The day will conclude with Mitra ceremonies. Led by Maitreyabandhu and Subhadramati.

Open Day To celebrate our 40th anniversary we’re opening our doors for anyone and everyone to find out about Buddhism, learn to meditate, try a taster session in Breathing Space or just have a look around. 11am – 5pm. Refreshments provided and all events are free.

Forty years ago we opened our doors and started offering meditation and Buddhism in Bethnal Green. This November we celebrate the men and women who built from their own inspiration the nucleus of a new society, as well as those who keep building it today. Sangha celebration for volunteers

The London Buddhist centre is run mostly by volunteers without whom not much could happen. A celebration of the generosity that animates the LBC. 2.30-5pm. At 3.15 there will be a short ritual including two short talks by volunteers and a thanks from Suryagupta. If you regularly volunteer, come along!

‘In Conversation’ with Subhuti

Suryagupta in conversation with Subhuti about his life and practice. Subhuti has been the President of the London Buddhist Centre for over 30 years and was part of the original team who built the LBC in the1970s.

Suryagupta, Chair of the LBC, will launch 5.30pm – 8pm. All welcome. Food will be served at our month-long celebration with a 5.30pm. Reunion of Original Builders

The London Buddhist Centre started out as a burnt out fire station. It was transformed by a group of young, dedicated men and women in the 1970s. A chance for those who were involved to come together and rejoice in what they have given to so many. 10am – 12pm. Invite only.

Rambling into the Future

As part of his Presidential visit, Subhuti will be giving a series of informal rambles on the Dharma exploring his current thinking about Buddhism and reality and what it means for contemporary practitioners. 5.30pm – 7pm. Doors open briefly for latecomers just before 6pm.
