to do
We spend a lot of our time at work. As much as 1,950 hours a year in fact, and often more if you don’t have a collective agreement. So it’s important you are happy and well looked after at your workplace. Compared with the rest of the world, the Norwegian Working Environment Act is very good, but it doesn’t stop problems arising every single day. When they do, it’s good to know you’re not on your own.
If you are in a union, you are backed by a strong supporter. We will give you the help you need, provide good advice along the way, and do whatever we can to keep you safe at work.
Quite simply, we stand up for you.
Why join HK Norway?
If you work in the private sector, HK Norway is the union for you. As one of LO’s largest unions, we have the negotiating power to secure fair pay, safe working conditions, and good employment terms for our members.
With us, you are backed by a strong supporter who will stand by you with good advice and expert assistance. We’ll take your case – all the way to court if necessary.
First and foremost, it gives you and your colleagues the right to influence your pay and employment terms. A collective agreement also ensures a guaranteed wage, annual pay rises, thousands of kroner extra in pensions, and better pay for working at evenings and weekends. It also means your employer has to provide you with information and discuss any changes with you before they are implemented.
A collective agreement gives you improved rights
Having a collective agreement at your workplace puts you in a stronger position in your job.
Get support for courses and further education
Members have lots of opportunities for further education, professional certificates, and scholarships. For example, after three years of membership, you can apply for up to NOK 50,000 in scholarships to pursue higher education at colleges or universities.
Study management and technology
Through Addisco, you can take study credits in management. The course of study can easily be combined with work and is a blend of online studies, webinars, self-study, and weekend meetings. The studies available range from business law, HR, and technology, to sustainability and the circular economy.
Get smarter about working life
HK Norway arranges courses in legislative and agreement frameworks that relate to working life. We cover all the costs, and the courses are designed for those members who hold, or would like to hold, positions of trust. The courses can be expanded with top-level training in employment law and the working environment, for example.
