Quarantine Life

Being quarantined, now for five weeks, has greatly affected Loma Linda Academy students.

Weston Cook (9th) said, “COVID-19 has affected my life in many ways. I have had to adapt to the school changes and it has made learning very interesting, especially with BROB [Beth Robertson] not being here [on medical leave]. I sincerely believe COVID-19 is not to be taken lightly.” “It’s definitely different in the fact that I don’t go out anymore. I just stay home all day in doors. It’s also harder to interact with my peers, but social media and our phones help a lot with that,” Atalia Villegas (11th) said. Lauren Vitangcol (11th) said, “It canceled the banquet that the officers worked on for a long time which was very disappointing, especially since we poured our hearts into it.” Andrea Vargas (10th) said, “It feels a bit strange to be at home all day on weekdays while still doing school work. Also, seeing stores with empty shelves is a bit unsettling because the fact that COVID-19 is a serious issue suddenly becomes real in my mind and it sort of like hits home.” But students are trying to make the most of this stay-athome-life. Vargas is not finding much time away from school work, “but when I do, I go on a walk with my family, cook, talk to friends online, or watch a movie.” Aidan Kim (9th) said he has been spending his free time “playing games with my friends, like Roblox, and I’ve been finishing a puzzle.” “The fact that most of my family is at home now, is actually really nice!” Vargas said. For fun, Cook said, “I am also calling friends more often while home.” Zadie Tsao (9th) likes being able to get her work done in the morning and she has “the rest of the day free! But it’ll probably make me lazier since we walk around at school.” Micah Solar (12th) is trying to stay positive. “I try and find and do things that make me feel great and put the negativity aside.” Some students and families have been directly affected by COVID-19 itself. “For those who have been affected,” Villegas said, “I just want to say that we are all praying for you, and that I know it might be scary right now but all of us are in the hands of God now, and even if we stay quarantined forever, we’ll be able to be with each other again in heaven.” Mirror Staff Quarantine Life
