Prepare for a COVID-19 Test Although COVID-19 testing is often viewed as a painful experience, that is not inherently true. There are a few things people who are going to get tested should know before they go and take one. There are three different types of tests one could take, a molecular, antigen, or an antibody test. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a molecular test takes samples with a nasal swab, throat swab or saliva test. In some locations you can get a result with this test on the same day or up to a week. Molecular tests are also highly accurate.
