THE PROCESS - My inspiration was an aesthetic layout of paint brushes to reflect on my personal passion for art -I started by sketching the area which the jar will take place, then gradually added details ARCH 221/1511

- I started with an outline which helped me gain spatial awareness - I gradually added layers from lighter to darker

FEEDBACK - Blank background makes this unbalanced - There should be more contrast between the teapot and cloth

REFLECTION - I used an art gum to remove a layer of pencil for the teapot and added more shading to the cloth - Using an eraser to get sharper highlight lines created visible contrast which made the piece more aesthetically pleasing - Adding a thin layer of shading to the background enforced balance in this piece

REFLECTION - My perception of the angle and perspective is good as it is clear which faces are showing and which are hidden - Shade and contrast is well presented - Adding a background allowed me to create more balance

THE PROCESS - I included interesting angles that would produce intriguing drawings - I used a 2H for the details which gave this piece more life

FEEDBACK - One of the angles created a flat, 2D shape

REFLECTION - This is my favorite since the different strokes helped me create the boot texture, making this more realistic - There is good contrast in this achromatic medium - A darker shadow may have improved this piece

REFLECTION

- This is one of my favorite since both intensity and value are present - Highlight shown on the top of the boot makes this realistic

- I found it difficult to create intensity with different shades of pencil colors since it was hard to blend - This could be improved by using less vibrant colors

REFLECTION

- I used ink and pencil which allowed me to create shade using both strokes of ink and light shading from the pencil - Adding more pencil shading could improve this

- The contrast highlights where the light source is - I think the shadow makes this very realistic - Background created balance

- This is my favorite because I enjoy working with ink - Also, texture is well shown through the different strokes of ink - Good addition of details

THE PROCESS - I tried adding the detailed pattern of the bricks

FEEDBACK - Fading out is to rigid, not very aesthetically pleasing to the eye - Deleting details should have been incorporated more suitably

REFLECTION - I now understand that this requires following 2-point perspective method - Overall form as well as shading is nice - Cropping and choosing a more suitable focus would have improved the overall product - Fading out should’ve been more smooth

THE PROCESS - I started with a brief outline then started applying darker shades in denser areas

FEEDBACK - Texture is well displayed - Choice of detail should have been more specific and clearer

REFLECTION - The texture here is very nice and obvious due to the smooth strokes drawn - I think overall it looks realistic - Removing the table and sofa details created a smooth fading away effect which I like - The focus is unclear, although there is some cropping.

- I experimented with different techniques like wet on dry and wet on wet - I liked the wet on wet as they created nice fading away effects - I practiced adding layers to get a more defined product

REFLECTION - Adding value ensured closer areas are clearer - The used wet-on-wet technique produced a nice fading away effect on the petals which makes the flower look more natural - Adding a wide range of shades of green would create more balance and make this more realistic

- I created an interesting composition to show off different textures - I started with a light yellowish base color and gradually added red and orange in suitable areas which allowed me to build nice layers

REFLECTION - I made sure to add value in this piece as an improvement from my last piece which helped make this apple look realistic - Adding the green shade to the slice also added to the realistic effect - I think the shadow is well inputted - An improvement would be leaving blank areas for the highlight

PROCESS - Starting with the lighter shades and applying darker strokes helped me practice creating shade - This was challenging for me since I have less control in blending - highlight and shadow is well displayed ARCH 221/1511

FEEDBACK - Intensity is present but could be emphasized using an extra darker shade

REFLECTION - The different lengths of strokes used on the walls formed a realistic brick texture - Using circular motion created a natural bush texture - I think the overall drawing is well drawn with good proportion - This could be improved by adding more strokes with the ink to further add details

- I decided to draw and render this couch as I felt as though it would be interesting to create the texture of it - This way I could practice creating texture with markers - the feedback on my first trial was that it required more contrast DRAFT

REFLECTION -I used smooth strokes to ensure the smooth texture of the couch is clear - By adding more strokes of my darker shade in particular areas there was more differentiation and so I was able to achieve more contrast - Perspective is also well used here - I think this could be further improved by taking into consideration the orientation of the couch on the paper to ensure balance

THE PROCESS - I began by drawing a rectangle making sure its not too big so that the piece isn’t zoomed in - For rendering I used the weton-wet technique for the walls which created a smooth texture ARCH 221/1511

REFLECTION - I really like the pattern included of the chair and pillows since it emphasized the home-like atmosphere - Intensity is shown through the beigebrown color scheme - The rough outline of the carpet gave it texture and made it more realistic - This could be further improved by adding more detail with ink on the sofas and carpet

REFLECTION - I like the soft effect that the wet-onwet technique gave for the background - I think value is used well and created good contrast between the dark and light areas - The shadow added made this much more realistic and accurately represents shade and shadow
